China being a socialist/communist form of government actually fears free market waves. It cannot control them even as they are providing unprecedented benefits of increasing the incomes and working conditions and lifestyles of the citizens. They fear the accompanying interest in brands and shiny objects, but seem to disregard the even larger trend of people being able to network socially and economically raising the power that China so covets. It makes possible the military hegemony China as a government craves, while lowering social ills and strife.
To accomplish this they had to import almost the entire US industrial base because their population is so vast. Now that they are "dependent" on US methods it makes them nervous because at the top the administration has opposite socialist/communist views.
Our US administration has in recent years become considerably more socialist while exporting industries to China, Vietnam, Mexico, India and others. We have reduced societal income yet have vastly increased governmental transfer payments in the form of reverse taxation (EITC), Food Stamps (SNAP), Medical subsidies (Part D, ACA), energy subsidies (solar credits), financial transfer payments (quantitive easing, failed fiscal stimulus), price controls (ZIRP), and other wildly (socialist) non-market government policies that are directly harmful.
Apple could give China what they say they wish for. Simply move factories from China to other nations that are slightly more democratic. It might take 3 years.
It is long past time for the USA to return to free market emphasis and reduced government influence. It's time to lead the world out of the funk. When the USA catches a cold the world gets the flu. That's where we are right now.
