- I would totally use Apple Books if they had a library of content like Amazon does with Kindle Unlimited included with Apple One.

- I would use Arcade if they had some AAA games, even older ones. Just recently I spent money on a whole series of games from the early 2000s that were once available on Mac.

- Music is a good service for certain things, but Apple has done nothing to make it competitive. All the kids I know listen to Spotify.

- TV+ doesn’t have enough variety. It’s best to compare it to Max which has a ton of variety. TV+ concentrates too much on high-brow entertainment and doesn’t have enough for wider audiences. Apple TV+ is trying to hard to appeal to a small subset of streaming viewers and should think more about everyone else as well.

Audible subscription works well for me. If Apple Books would offer the same for less I might consider switching.

(Matching the price would is not enough: Audible has a wider device support than Apple Books)

Still I’m in love with AppleTV+, imho it is the best streaming service. Fitness+ is really well done and something the only reason I move my a$$ after a day of work

Apple should have bought Paramount and its vast catalog, it was barely pocket change for Tim. It’s still not too late, and I say this as someone stuck with that donkey of a stock lol.
Paramount would have been a terrific fit for Apple. They would now own franchises such as Mission Impossible and Star Trek. Apple needs to loosen up a bit and make stuff for wider audiences instead constantly going for prestige movies and TV.

I think one of the problems Apple TV+ has is that it only has exclusive content. I don’t know how it works in the US, but in my country it’s not like I can watch an old movie or TV show on it. If I’m hooked on their exclusive content, it still doesn’t make sense to continue with the subscription once a show’s season ends.

Over the recent days, MacRumors have published a series of article which to me announce the fall of a giant … Tim has failed dramatically with the team to carry on the legacy. I am preparing to make the big shift to competition because I can’t carry on with a glass rectangle overpriced undespecs which slowly become a dumb box compare to others … I can’t have lack of productivity and now lack of creativity … I can’t endlessly wait for the right move and the products we need that I see in the shelves of others … I want a foldable phone and a computer with touch screen that I can use with a decent monitor I want proper Dolby sound and Spotify with my TV I want VR and AR I want a watch with more than 12 hours of battery life and Blood pressure I want to be able to link all this home appliances with my phone without thinking if it’s truely compatible and finding it’s not … I want what I pay for. Regarding Apple services … TV + is inconsistent, music boring (I have a lot of tracks I produced in their and see the difference with Spotify now) Arcade was great and unique but then …

Apple Music's growth has reportedly virtually stopped and it remains "only marginally profitable." Since it pays artists and labels more than 70% of its revenues, it has a single-digit–percentage gross margin. Cue apparently told some colleagues privately that he doesn't believe the service will ever reach 100 million paying subscribers. Moreover, overall iTunes Store sales are now actively shrinking.

But but but... I was told Spotify was dying, and everyone was flocking to Apple Music, and Spotify will be bankrupt soon... 🤔🤔🤔

Apple has some good productions, no question.
But Apple has simply made some mistakes:
- They should have bought up a big studio like MGM (-> James Bond series) to expand their media catalog or to have one at all.
- They should have made sure that a well-known brand like Star Trek appeared as a series.

And I wonder if productions like Californication or HBO's Entourage would have been allowed at Apple!?

Their conversion rate for Apple Music is fairly pathetic when you consider.

In 2023 they were estimated to have 1.3 billion iPhone users, if AM has 90 million subscribers that's a sign up rate of 6.5% which is terrible.

Amazed that they have just accepted that tbh.

I think a lot of Apple's content feels like it's funneled through a "family values" hose and softened up for "clean" consumption. Here's an idea, stop with the "walled garden" approach to entertainment and start producing edgier content. Stuff that may not be appropriate for little Timmy, but content that actually sells to the masses. I like Apple TV+, but at the same time some of the content feels a little too Lifetime movie-ish.

A lot of their AppleTV+ content has a certain bend to it that has turned off a lot of potential viewers and those viewers’ word-of-mouth advertising. It seems part of the appeal of AppleTV+ content is that it’s underground and unknown. It’s the appeal of being quirky and obsessed with that underground band no one’s heard of 🥱

I can't justify the price but I would watch some if I just simply had access to all content and the creators got a percentage of my monthly subscription based on how much of their content I consumed in comparison to others. I would pay more for this service if it included all content.

Kinda but shrinking is pretty racy

Apple forgoes markets like smart home automation where their integration of hardware and software can help by relying on crappy, overpriced, third party hardware and instead wastes money on trying to reinvent the wheel worse than another company already has such as Apple TV+. I mean even though my devices would come with a 3 month trial I would never sign up because then I had to remember to cancel it at the end of the 3 months rather than it just stopping and it wasn't worth the aggravation so not even no fee could entice me to sign up for the service let alone paying their overpriced subscription amount. They would be better off giving it away, putting on old movies, and paying for it with ads

Can you please elaborate on what features you think are the compelling ones?

What I see on that page is this:

Play over 100 million songs, always ad‑free. Hear next-level sound quality with Spatial Audio1 and lossless audio.2 Take centre stage with Apple Music Sing. Access exclusive interviews and live concerts. And listen across all your devices, online or off. The music app for music lovers is here.

Spatial Audio = "most people don't care" or simply don't even like it

Lossless Audio = Available on other platforms, but also something that a lot of the mainstream doesn't care about either, depending upon their listening context and devices, etc

Apple Music Sing, Interviews and Live Concerts -- It's all just super niche neat side stuff that isn't going to drive interest on its own for most people.

 Music should be bigger, and people have heard of it. Problem is, Apple don't tell people the features of  Music that makes it different from others to entice them to switch.

To be fair they throw trials about like confetti.

The issue is the things that make Apple Music different are either things that aren't really a win for the service (it makes too many concessions to letting people manage local music libraries, they should have built the streaming app separate) or they are things that most people don't care that much about like lossless audio.

Apple TV+ is actually quite nice. Apple Music is my go to streaming service. And Icloud is a must for photo syncing/backup.

Games, however, are anything but essential. Especially since it's mostly ****** mobile games. And news+ isn't even available in many other countries, and probably not worth it quality-wise.

Have you done a survey on this?

The market has pretty much spoken.

If you assume AM has around 90 million subs (we don't know because they have stopped reporting the numbers), Spotify is about 3 times the size, and that is only counting Spotify users that are paying for premium (236 million).
