I REALLY wish Apple would bypass the upgrade and let you buy at full retail. I am a Vzw customer and would love to do an in store pickup. But since I am unlimited and haven't used my upgrade in a few years. Apple will only let me buy an iPhone 6 at upgrade pricing and ill have to use my upgrade. No option like Verizon's site to pay full retail.

Will they really offer in-store pick up? I just don't understand if they offer this option, why are people waiting in line a week before the release???

I really want to find out if this is possible because I will be in a different state (Florida) so I would love to be able to just do in-store pick up. Do you know if they will hold the phone for you? can I just come in any time during that day and pick it up?

I was thinking about doing a reservation so that I can have the phone right after work. If I ship to the house, I have to wait until after I hit the gym, but if Next is ineligible, maybe not.

Still need to decide between 4.7 and 5.5...

This is pretty good news.

Side note: in the keynote, they mentioned phones would ship friday. So I don't think people will be getting their phones day of launch, if opting to ship to your house.

Anyway, I could have waited to ship, but I would rather cross the boarder into NH and save the tax. A 64GB 6 Plus should save me about $65 if I opt to pick up instead of have it delivered.

In your shoes, and I need 3 iPhones. Let's cross the border together :) You can also use Discover card , log in the account use retailer link and it gives you extra 5 percent. Not to much, but it covers your gasoline.

I have a FAN discount and I've never had any issues upgrading at an apple store

Yea, I would hope it would have changed, but I rolled the dice a few years back and failed, and probably wont roll em' again. Ill just go through ATT (I may have changes anyway as I haven't been "locked into" a reg plan in years - and times have changed).

Sorry if this has already been said but can we reserve tomorrow or do we have to wait until the iPhone 6 is actually out?

Guy on Apple Chat:

"Reserving in the past was a lottery system so it very unlikely you will get an iPhone 6 on the 19th in this way."

So, reserving isn't as good as it sounds.

Many years ago (I actually think it was the iPhone 3g) I had an issue ordering through Apple. After hours on the phone with AT&T, they finally fixed it and it allowed me to get through Apple. They actually had the remove the discount. Never gave it another thought until last year. My wife's company was offering a 25% discount, so I added back on.

Hopefully there is no issue, I pay the bill (its not a business phone that the company pays... I know that those have to go through AT&T). Are you in the same situation?

Verizon

So from what I'm reading, if you are not eligible for an upgrade with verizon you cannot preorder from apple at retail price??

my apple store option is only through the mail, and I'm almost sure that pre-orders on AT&T don't have pickup option. I'm just going to get a case from the Apple Store Online, and camp out on the 19th.

Just went to another AT&T store and they confirmed what the first store told me: In-store pickup will not be available for pre-orders and they will ship on the 19th with an expected arrival of 7-10 days.

I then called the AT&T national hotline just to make sure both stores weren't just talking BS...and after 20 minutes of the agent bumbling around looking for answers, I got even more ambiguous statements. AT&T has limited information on how exactly pre-orders will be distributed, but online orders will only offer postal delivery while in-store pre-orders will offer both in-store pick-up and postal delivery. The exact date of when in-store pick-ups arrive is up in the air, but the agent claims that they were available on release date every year before so I should expect to have mine waiting for me in store on the 19th.

Basically, AT&T has no idea what's going on.

So, I ditched my hopes of getting anything release day through AT&T, and called two Apple stores to see if I can get an iPhone 6 Plus via AT&T Next through them. They both confirmed that pre-ordering online will give you the option of in-store pick-up and postal delivery and that you can buy the phone via AT&T Next. In-store pick-up will be available on the 19th, but postal delivery ships on release date and will arrive according to the shipping you pick at checkout. Looks like Tim Cook wasn't joking.

Here's the problem...both stores could not confirm at what time pre-orders will begin online. I tried prying them to see if I could expect pre-orders to open at midnight, but neither specialists budged and just said the usual stuff about checking the website often.

No idea what I'm going to do tbh! I really want my phone on release day but I really don't feel like lining up at 4 in the morning. What do you guys think?

IF you can pre-order and do in store pickup, why would have you have to be in line at 4am?

Because I can't spend hours refreshing their site and I'm expecting pre-orders to sell out very soon after becoming available ;) I hope it's a midnight thing tonight..

Can anyone help me with this?

I plan on trading in my iphone 5 , i believe apple takes it for around $200.

I am not planning to pre-order, and plan to line up on the day of launch , when it is my turn, ask them to trade my iphone 5 in and use the credit towards an iphone 6 right there.

Anyone did this and any problem with previous iphones?

I'm not sure if it is. I just asked an Apple rep on chat, and she said I could pick up in-store "beginning on the 19th."

It is at least possible for launch day pick up.

I have to work and after work pick up is my preferred option. Besides, I haven't sold my 5s yet, so don't want the wife giving me grief

Correct. This is from two stores here in Florida.

I just called my local store and was told the opposite.

She said that AT&T's policy is that Next phones are not picked up in store and that phones pre-ordered will SHIP on the 19th, not deliver on the 19th.

As stated, any orders shipped through postal service will not be delivered on the 19th. I was assured by two Apple stores that AT&T next phones will be available for in-store pick-up on the 19th, so I have no idea what to say!

Postal Service? Nope. Either FedEx or UPS and they are supposedly guaranteed for the 19th.

I wont do this again

When iphone 5 came out, I reserved the pickup at our local store. I went to there at 8am and got my phone about 2:30pm. I will never do this again.....

That's what I meant. A postal service. A box being transported to your house over long distances that isn't necessarily the US Postal service. Jesus, guys :p I was told they would not arrive on the 19th.
