RESERVE online PICKUP IN Apple STORE currently live and working

The thing with the vague October shipping date is technically it should mean that the first orders placed with the October shipping date will begin shipping a week today. Which actually isn't that long to wait. The question is how many orders have been placed between the first with that date and yours!

I don't mind waiting two weeks if it saves me the hassle of ludicrously rocking up to random Apple stores at any opportune moment and (in all likelihood) continually being sent away empty handed. But if the online pick-up option pops back up I'll do my best to jump on that. It's the far superior method for getting the goods.
 
Question...

My goal: I want to buy an iPhone 5S from the Apple store at full price in order to keep my Verizon unlimited data plan.

Now, when I go on the Apple website, choose the $199 iPhone 5S that I want, and then proceed all the way to checkout, I see the 'pickup in store' option. Then, it tells me that it is 'available for pickup' now at the Michigan Ave store in Chicago.

Of course I don't do the checkout. My question: is it valid to assume that if an iPhone 5S is available for pickup with a contract price of $199 this very moment, then this also implies that the same phone is available currently in the store at full price?

Does anybody follow what I'm trying to say?
 
In store pick-up option seems to be down now. Wonder if they will switch to the 10PM reservation instead?

you won't know until you go there and try it. someone else on macrumors claimed that he asked to purchase the subsidized phone price at a "non-contract, unsubsidized price" and they let him do it.

When I go to apple.com now, and select the phone I want, in the "available for pick-up" option, it says "not eligible". This is only on the 5S, but it is available for the 5C. Maybe it's because I am on the West Coast and the stock hasn't been updated yet?
 
The point is.. Apple wants lines. They don't want the public (or investors) to know that despite the first day frenzy, stores have stock now!
 
Was in the front of the line this morning at Santa Monica and they barely had anything... 0 gold. I thought they usually receive shipments in the morning?

Actually the problem is they don't really have stock. Not all of them. And people were buying them out from under each other. An online customer gets to the end to find someone in store got to it first. A customer in store asks if something's in stock and they say yes but it's sold to an online customer before it can be pulled from the back for the in store customer.

Demand is too high for the in store pick up. BUT THEY SHOULD LET YOU GUYS CHECK STOCK ONLINE ANYWAY.

Last night my local store got a shipment at 6 pm for the next day. But because they sell them the moment they arrive they were almost out before they closed leaving little for people in the morning to buy.

I did that last night. Reserved around 4pm and picked up at 7pm. Had to wait a bit as I was not the only one picking up a phone. There was also a line out front for walk-ins hoping to get one in stock.
 
Three stores here in Vegas and one only has a small amount of Verizon phones. The second has 64gb space grey. On to checkout the third store.

MY local Apple store just told me that In Store Pick Up Option would start at 3am EST everyday till stock runs for pick ups, and then it revert to IN Store Ourchase only. CAn anyone confirm this?
