You are correct. Buy T-Mobile. The T-Mobile stock is harder to come by but I did see a store with stock around 4am. So it is possible to find.
You can't search all of them every minute of the day, They may come and go within just a few minutes, unless you are literally searching continuously for a 24 hour period you would definitely miss them.
I swear it wasn't working also....checked all day and all I saw was 2 times for about 5 min there was stock available in 2 stores in California. There was never anything available all day in any of Oregon or Washington. What gives??? Ughhh......

Most of the phones are being reserved when the computer system refreshes - between midnight and 3AM.

Same here, checking for last 2 days on and off and no space grays 16GB in any of south Florida stores...sounds like bs to me
I think everyone is buying into apples hype. There is no way one is trickling in here and there. When a shipment comes, they get 30+ (this goes for the 16gb gold that came in this weekend). Maybe they are just allocating their shipments to online orders at this point

If you want in store pickup it will be same day if you order before a couple hours when doors close.

Aha got it,so i "just" need to catch 5s in stock online in my area and reserve it (buy it) and i can pick it up same day or tomorrow right? Sorry im not from states so i need to understand whole process ,and how long they keep iphone for pick up? Example i found 5s today and person who needs to take it from the store can come next week or few days after reservations?
No, I'm not checking every minute, but about every 30 minutes. You would think eventually I'd see something change - even if it is a carrier/color or size I don't want. I'm saying Chicago is not moving one way or the other.

IF the online ordering is accurate, I'm pretty confident that the NYC 14th street apple store hasn't received a single 32gb verizon gold in at least two days.
Apple stores typically update their inventory every night, when they generally get shipments - not in the middle of the day. The reason you're not seeing phones is that most of them are bought and reserved in the middle of the night - between midnight and 3 AM. That's where the most success comes - including myself last year.
This morning a store near me had the 32gb black version in stock, too bad it wasn't the 64gb. It is now showing as unavailable, other than that, I haven't seen anything else change.
Check for stock in store, purchase on the apple site and select in store pickup. It's usually ready for pick up a couple of hours after your purchase.
I wouldn't wait several days or a week to pick it up. I believe there is a time limit.
Some folks earlier in this thread stated it is updated throughout the day. Who knows.

All I'm saying is that until I see otherwise, I do not believe the upper Midwest is getting any updates at all. Maybe the stores are getting them and they are never hitting the inventory system on the website.

I gotta say, I don't think there's anything fishy going on regarding the shortage. I really do think that there is just nothing coming in, which is perplexing. You'd think they'd have enough product to at least give their own stores something substantial every day.

There's a shipment en route for the people in the 7-10 day window, I imagine stores will get a shipment too and you will be able to buy online and pickup later today or tomorrow
So if i cant pict it up on time apple will refund me money from the credit card?

When I did my pickup order on the 23rd the email didn't specify a date or time by which I needed to pick it up, but someone else posted that you have a few days.

It says they'll even email you a couple reminders before eventually cancelling your order.
I'd say you're perfectly safe to order and pick up in the next day or two. The phone I picked up had a big sticker on the outside plastic with my name and order number, so it's not likely to get mistakenly sold to someone else if I didn't immediately go to the store.
Worst case they'd cancel the order and refund the charge.
They update midday. My silver 32 came in at 4pm and I caught it online after work. It was out of stock at 3:30pm and then in stock at 4pm.
