I put in store pickup... But in my account on apple.com it says ships in October.. Does that change ? Or was the phone unavailable by time I checked all the way out ?

Slightly off this topic, but I purchased a 5S via apple.com, received it last Wednesday. I want to exchange it for a different capacity. Since I used the upgrade, it won't allow me to purchase another device on apple.com on that line(directs me to AT&T). Can I purchase a 5S for in store pickup on another line that is eligible for an early upgrade, have the apple rep reverse that transaction and do an exchange on the correct line?

There's an easy way around that.

You buy a brand new phone with a new line using Apple's website. Then, when you go pick it up, you pay, and return it. Literally. Then, tell them you want it at full price. And they'll give it to you.

Confirmed and working.

Purchased full priced device only from an Apple retail store both are unlocked.

Ok how you did that? Did you order online for 199dol and the return them at the same moment and tell them that you changed your mind and you want them for a full price or you bought tmobile non contract version from apple.com? Tmobile version 649dol is unlocked right? Or you get verizon iphone 5s? Please answer i need to send someone to buy instead of me and i need to explain that person everyhing its pretty dumb :( and guys what you think if i order today 5s from verizon or tmobile can i pick up the phone maximum untill 15 october?

I think you can just purchase it at full price and then do the whole return and exchange thing at the store. My store was telling people that wanted a phone to buy any color they can get and just exchange it within 30 days for the one they want. Seems like a waste to me but that was per their suggestion.

That's good to hear. I will give it a shot, purchase for in store pickup on the line that is eligible for an early upgrade and hope that they can straighten everything out. I know that there will be a hold on my credit card, but that should go away after they to the return and exchange.

With in store pickup you will have to order the T-Mobile version or order a new line and return it, then ask to repurchase as device only in store.

The T-Mobile and Verizon versions are GSM unlocked. The device only purchased AT&T version is also unlocked.

Something can't be right...

...I know I've posted posted several times yesterday, but something just doesn't feel right about all this. For over the last 24 hours, there has not been one single iPhone ADDED to the upper midwest (Chicagoland specifically, but when you click the next button it searches Wisconsin and Michigan too). Not by color, memory or carrier. Yes there are a couple in stock, but my point is nothing was added at all yesterday in this area. Nothing! I was under the impression that Apple stores received orders every day (save Sunday) and that as of yesterday they were under instructions to save inventory for online reservations. If that is indeed true, then the Midwest (including Chicago - third largest market in the US) sold no iPhones on Monday 9/30 and I find that hard to believe.

Can anyone please confirm in other parts of the country that they are seeing inventory added during the day? NOT that you looked and saw stock, but that you looked and saw stock ADDED yesterday that was not there when you looked earlier.

Maybe this is just a Midwest issue. After this post, I'll let this go.

Same situation here in Boston area. I've seen a few silver ones appear but there's been no gold and very little space gray (surprising) since the in store pickup feature when live again. When the feature was live for about 24 hours last week there seemed to be a lot more stock activity.

do u think it's worth a shot to show up at the store tomorrow morning at 8? =\

"worth" is a subjective measure of the value you place the other things you might do with the time, measured against the value of possibly getting the phone tomorrow morning (which itself is dependent on the availability of the model you're seeking).

Any answers to your question will be no better than guesses. Nobody is telling us what each store will receive each day, and none of us can gauge the value of your time or the value you'd realize in having the phone tomorrow.

With that said, sure, it'd be very much worth a shot of showing up at the store tomorrow morning at 8. :D

I just went to the 14th St. store in New York City. 8am sharp. The store manager was outside taking questions from people. There were like four total people, but he was turning them away. He said they had nothing in stock, and pointed us to online pickup.

He also told some people that there is no such thing as an unlocked phone, so who knows if we can trust anything he said. Point is they weren't giving out any tickets at that particular location. Online only. He did say the inventory updates throughout the day and goes online when it comes in.

Never purchased an iphone online yet so don't know the process... Can someone help me, if say an iphone 5s becomes available and I want to reserve for an online pickup (16gb space grey tmobile) does my account already have to be tied to a credit card?

You can enter your credit card info in the checkout process.

Of course, you risk someone else completing checkout faster and suddenly finding the phone's no longer available by the time you finish checkout.

Better to set up your online account with all your info including a credit card (that you'll have with you) ahead of time to make the checkout process faster.

He doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to unlocked iPhones. if you buy an iPhone without contract ($649, 749, 849), it is factory unlocked, that includes the T-Mobile full prices showing up on Apple.com

Since i have bad credit my only option at this moment if i would want to order today is to order tmobile contract free iphone 5s from apple.com for 649dol and pick it up in the store when they notify me? Am i right or im wrong?

Of course. I'm sure he's just pushing the company line. The customer started to gently argue with him along the lines of what you just wrote and the store manager simply responded, "Well, you'd be taking your chances."

Three colors. Three capacities. Three carriers. That's 27 SKU's. Extremely high demand.

How exactly are you monitoring each sku for new availability throughout a 24hr period? These are hot items and on the West Coast then the few times I actually "saw" new inventory appear, it disappeared just as quick. So while it may "feel" like new inventory isnt being put up, isn't it possible that you're simply monitoring the device that you particularly are after and are missing it?

For me, I'm looking for a 32GB Gold Sprint which is pretty rare already so IF I ever catch one at my local stores then it's going to be purely out of luck.

It is actully very easy to click around on the Apply page to check for these. I'm looking for a 32 Slate Grey and would take a 64 if I had to. Since I've been thinking the system is not working I started check all the other cariers and colors.

I can search all 27 skus in about 45 seconds!

Only saw 64GB silver show up in Tampa briefly, out of all of the FL stores, twice yesterday and once this morning (early). I got sniped all 3 times on it. Haven't tried searching any of the other options because I'm only checking stores from the final checkout page.

There's a silver 32GB in Ft. Lauderdale for AT&T.
