Just placed order at The Summit location in Birmingham, Al and was able to cancel online order then called att to reverse upgrade. Worked out finally, been trying this for 2 weeks...

Tried that at my local verizon, and verizon reseller, and they did not have any stock. So watching Apple stock is all I have going right now.
Plenty of stores out there. Best Buy, Walmart, Radioshack, Target, they all get 5S stock.
I am already thinking of buying a T-Mobile full price at a T-Mobile store and wait 40 days to unlock it. Well, lets see what happens next week... arriving at Miami on Monday and traveling to Orlando on the same day...11 Apple Stores to visit.
BestBuy overcharges for non-upgrade, and I believe Target doesn't even offer non-upgrade purchases. Was going to check Walmart when I had a chance.
I got 16GB gold AT&T in my cart. And yet, can't check out at all there places. All I need to do is just Place order now. Then it bounce back to cart, and then it disappear from each store one by one.

I've had success for three gold iPhones with the in-store pickup at washington square and pioneer square...with express checkout. It takes a few seconds for me to pick the store and confirm the purchase.
Have you tried express checkout?
Iv checked all these stores in my area and they none of them have any gold Verizon stock either.
Apparently, I do not have Express Checkout set to On.

Got a 32GB silver via in store pick-up on 10/1. Decided I really wanted a 64GB instead. I tried to return it to my local Apple store on 10/8 and was told I had to ship it back to Apple.com. Just got notification that my return was received today and processed, so my eligibility is now back. Then today I got an email from the iPhone 5S checker website posted here that a 64GB gold AT&T was available at my local Apple store. I snapped it up and am just waiting for the "we're ready for you e-mail". This has been so crazy!

I checked the T-Mobile website and they have stock of 64GB Grey and Silver available immediately to ship. Order it from their website and select next day shipping if you cannot find one in a retail store.
You have to wait 40 days as well has have the iPhone active on an account for at least 7 days.

When the iPhone 5 came out I bought a no contract full priced iPhone from Target. It was locked to AT&T so I had to call AT&T customer service and have them unlock it.

what time are you guys checking the website? is it at night time like the last iphone releases?
I check in the mornings and throughout the day. Usually I'll check before I go to bed but I have not had any luck
Although inventory refreshes more than once a day, I really miss the way I bought my very first iPhone (4S) two years ago when in-store pick up reservations opened up at 9pm local time.

Yeah, it was crazy. He even called Apple to get an override, but still wasn't able to do it. But, that's ok. It all worked out in the end.
Note: An iPhone purchased on the Apple Online Store is ineligible for return to an Apple Retail Store
I think they recently added it to prevent people exchanging iphones
I thought because I had done in store pick-up that is was different from something purchased directly from apple.com and shipped to me. No worries. I shipped it back and was able to purchase what I wanted in the end.

Is this confirmed? I thought we were always able to return to the apple store. I don't like to ship anything back of that kind of value.
I just got an email from Target that I got an iPhone 5s Gold 16Gb waiting to be picked up. I am located in Portland, OR. PM me if you want it. I already got the golds necessary and was just seeing if I can help anybody from Portland out.
Note: You will need to have full upgrade eligibility. Meaning you have to be able to buy the phone at the 199 price. No other way.

Dang it! It was finally available in my area so I rush cancel my order but it took to long for it to go back to upgrade status and now its gone and my order is cancel. Smart very smart

Me too. They finally had gold 64 At&t in stock. The phone was available but it took to long to go back to upgrade status and I missed both Bridgeport and Washington Square.
