Every day I log on to see of the Cincinati store has a t mobile 16 or 32 in stock and it says they have 16, but i go through check out to pick up in store and at the last step it says it is unavailable. It's getting really annoying

If you have a device running iOS, it's best to use the Apple Store app rather than Safari on a desktop/laptop. Also, put in your credit card info and enable one-click purchasing. Memorize your security code on the back of your credit card so you won't need to physically pull it out at the final step. You'll get one sooner or later!

We can't buy the unlocked T-Mobile version through the Apple Store app. Only via desktop.

I got so fed up with this I bought a silver 32GB on E-bay for $790.00. Even though it was opened, the buyer claims it has never been used and just did it to activate in store and is offering a 14 day return policy. I only have 10 days left before I can return my 64GB Space Grey and it seems to be a challenge to get it device only at this point through the in-store pick up. If I even managed to get a hold of one at a Apple Store, it would be $816 after tax. I will return my Space Grey this week once I get my silver.

I was just checking and that is true. Its like Apple is alienating that whole market. This process has become a huge nuisance

Apple is trying to help a brotha out by biasing the availability of iPhones towards people who want to buy phones on a contract. I sympathize with this move because it's the only politically correct way to thwart the scalpers, who line up to buy phones every morning at 5am. I think people on here know exactly what I'm talking about, but Apple cannot safely acknowledge this problem. The only way is to severely limit the availability each morning by shuttling the phones towards legit consumers via in-store pick-up.

Problem is for people on T-Mobile. T-Mobile phones are a scalpers paradise. It's weird you can only buy them online though and not through the Apple Store app.

I have not seen Grey Phones in South Florida in 4-5 days, this is crazy....
I signed up for the email as well, and of course, no hits..

I've been trying to exchange my VZ 5s for an AT&T (now that I found out I qualify for the full subsidy :) ).

I've been religiously checking the inventory (tho I also signed up for the emails).

This process of finding and securing a phone (for instant gratification) is worse than a couple of years ago when I was anxiously awaiting a car that I special ordered (it took 3 months from the time I placed the order to when I received my car - but worth the wait!).

FWIW, I signed up for the emails too and they appear to only semi-work: on Friday I got an availability email at 2pm EST but was engrossed in a meeting and couldn't get to reserving it in time. I randomly checked the checker-page again that night around 6pm EST and there was the exact model I had signed up for the emails for and was able to snag that phone for pickup. Never got an email saying it was available, it was just random luck I checked.
So, I would keep checking it on the times that people seem to be having success with (2pm/6pm EST were times I saw phones, DC/VA/MD area) and not rely 100% on the email checker :)

I ordered/waited for a car as well (Aug 20th order, Oct 2nd pickup). I'll probably never, ever go through that again  Hunting down the 5S was a chore, but was by no means as stressful as that wait for a $35k thing that my livelihood was semi-dependent on. Course, the 5S I knew I had the cash in hand for and was more of an annoyance than anything

Consider youself lucky. I found it and was doing the in store pickup option when it nixed me during the last step pulling the "item is no longer available" card.Well thats happened 4 days straight now

I truly believe some people want to complain about something and have nothing better to do. I'm sure apple has heard of the issue now. As of now, nobody has heard of a fix so I don't understand why you would exchange your phone right now and then exchange it again if it still has the same issue. Just hold on to your phone until Apple fixes it or return it and just wait or go to android.

That I do, although the DC area went through a total dry spell early last week other than 16gig Silver and then Friday, all of the sudden, a ton of phones appeared both at 2pm and 6pm (didn't sell out for a good 45min). Grey has been in tight supply, but looking 5min ago, there were Golds across all storage sizes (AT&T), 16gig Silvers again, but no greys. Apple stocking =

Again. Gold 16GB AT&T Pioneer Square - Portland. Put to cart. Place Order, and it would not allow me to go through. By third try, it is not available anymore.

It happens to me every time in the Cincinnati Kenwood store. I get the possibility of one selling, but for 4 days straight I don't buy it. The 5c is getting tempting because of this mess

So how does one order an AT&T device only for in store pickup, if I have a contract with AT&T thats still one year before it's up? I also still has the unlimited data. I don't want to extend my contract for 2 more years. T-Mobil has very limited availability for in-store pickup. Ideally, I want to get the Verizon version which is also hard to get 64G.

Will the unlocked / T-mobile work w my Verizon?

No

Not really. More Silver still avail.
Lots were there at 2pm Must have sold quickly.

Order a new line and select in store pickup. When you get to the store tell them you changed your mind and you would prefer to buy device only. They will process the return then you buy it full price.

why dont you already have it in your cart and at the very last screen so you can pick in store pick up option and checkout.

I did, but I have the verizon version on the cart as that was what available previous days. I am gonna load the AT&T one tomorrow and try again. Hopefully I'll get it this time.

I was able to get 3 golds for my brothers and I on Friday night. It was around midnight that the gold 16gb and 32gb were avaialbe for about 1.5 hours. From 12am-1:30am. Went into the store on Saturday evening. What you want to do is load it onto your app. Have it saved in cart and when it comes time just hit check out and enter in your password and security code and BAM you got it. Pioneer also got me in and out of there for all three phones in less than 15mins. Held my gold high in the air to all those scalpers trying to probe and hassle apple employees about having Gold iphones in stock and not selling to them. Walked outside of the apple store and it was 6pm and they already had their chairs lined up outside the mall. SMH.

Good Luck.

Talked to the apple rep too and I they are really cutting down on the scalpers. They are no longer allowing cash or gift card purchases of the iphone and only one card that matches ID per person to purchase a phone.

Best of luck to you. Happy hunting

I haven't had any luck either at pioneer place, just a bunch of scalpers outside the store waiting and refreshing their phones every second to get all iphones as they become available.
