the online inventory tool says that there hasn't been anything at GSP for days. i guess what people are saying about pick-up vs walk-in inventory is separate.

do you know if GSP has any 32g grey verizon iphones?

Best bet is to call the store. GSP was quite a small drive for me. I live in The Bronx. :)

Been trying to get a Space Grey 5s with 32 Gig for several days using the Apple Store app. Found a 64 Gig Space Grey in Boulder, CO. A bit of a drive but decided to get it. Got email telling Apple had processed the order followed about 30 minutes later with it was ready for pickup.

All exited I jumped in the truck and started the drive (about 100 miles) up to Boulder. About 30 miles down the road I get a call from the store manager telling there is no phone. Apparently something was broke with the App and I should not have been able to purchase it. So now my ATT credit is in limbo, I've got $432 in limbo and no phone. I was pretty mad so I called the Apple customer support line to tell them what had happened. I get transferred several times until I'm talking to some manager at Apple corporate. This guy was amazing! First he calls the store manager and then calls me back followed by the store manager calling me. Suddenly there is a 32 gig space grey in Boulder. Curious how that happened but there it was. It was placed on hold for me and two hours later, I had it in hand. Still waiting for Apple to refund my money for the original phone though. This guy that helped me worked directly with ATT and the store so that I was able to get my phone last night and it doesn't end there. Apple is sending me an iPod Classic as an apology for the screw up.

Started out pretty screwed up but sure ended nicely.

so I reserved an order at my local store, tried to return it and re-buy it contract fee, but they said it wasn't possible because they had to return it back to apple?? :confused:

First and foremost, depends if it was opened. If it is still sealed that probably means it was returned incorrectly. (Depending on how they process the return of iPhone will determine if it needs to be shipped back)

it was unopened, later on in the day I was it was available for pickup again on a Sunday night! they lied to me...
 
Every day I log on to see of the Cincinati store has a t mobile 16 or 32 in stock and it says they have 16, but i go through check out to pick up in store and at the last step it says it is unavailable. It's getting really annoying

Yeah that sucks. Each store has its own policies regarding selling as device only. Some will some won't, also depends on if you can convince them.

I usually can convince them with the fact that I'm never eligible for an 'upgrade' so always have to buy as device only.
 
I signed up for email alert for available phones for instore pickup earlier today, and just after an hour of signing up, I got a notification that the store closest to me (Tukwila, WA)has the Gold 5S 16GB AT&T, the one I wanted in stock, and sure enough, they did.
But I already have an order online, and I did not cancel the phone order I placed online beforehand, I knew that by the time my online order is canceled, and upgrade eligibility is cleared, the phone will be gone, so I didn't even bother to try. But I did watch how long it sells out: I got the notification of availability at 11:11, and the it's unavailable again at 11:34, so about 20 minutes, which is impressing.

where do you sign up for these notifications?
 
Just checked the inventory NYC area has a lot of Gold Verizon!

Silver is now harder to get than Gold in NY area. It also seems they are getting the same stock every 2 and 6pm EST as I've noticed I only see 16 GB Silver Verizon and not 32's anywhere. So frustrating.

I've heard that in some places (eg. Florida), Apple Store employees are treating foreign customers like trash, and I must assume that's all because of the scalpers. In my case, I will be visiting Florida for 10 days and hope to get a 5s for me and my wife, not because I want to sell it here in my country but because it is so much cheaper than here. ps. I'm from Brazil.

If you feel like youve been treated like trash, you should (when you are in the store) ask to speak to the manager and voice your concern. They will take your complain seriously. My Fiancee wrote an email to a apple store about someone hanging up on her and the manager actually called her back to apologize.

Tenta ir nas lojas de 1. Boca Raton, 2. Ft Lauderdale, 3. The Falls, 4. Dadeland..... Muito mais facil de achar do que no Aventura Mall ou Lincoln Road.

You don't speak Portuguese and used a translator? I travel to Brazil many times a year and have leaned Portuguese from friends. It's been easier for me to learn than Spanish though I use Spanish more.

The timing are (as per history)
2-2:15 and 6-6:15 EST
11:15 and 3-3:15 PST

Just keep refreshing at that time. And always have your phone in the cart at the very last checkout screen ahead of time so you don't waste time going through upgrade eligible check when stock comes in.
