My order wouldn't go through. First screen shows stock available but when I add to cart the next screen says unavailable for pickup. But when I go back and search the prior screen it still shows stock for pickup.

I had samething a few days ago. One click away to order but as soon as I did final click, all gold phones were gone.
Fortunately, another store had 16GB gold (ATT) yesterday so I was able to order and picked it up today.
Keep tracking in your area.

No luck in Lehigh Valley Apple store. They don't know how to sell me device only with personal pickup phone..... WTH

Yesterday afternoon in Miami, there were a lot of gold 16 and 32 GB phones available at a few stores...I was kind of shocked. I even hesitated with my order because I was going back and forth with which capacity I wanted. Even with that, I was able to snag one for in store pickup, and 10 minutes later I got the "we're ready for you" email. And there were still phones showing in the online inventory after I got mine.

I'm a little surprised that they didn't go faster, but I guess they came online at a weird time, and perhaps no one was really checking at that point. I'm just super glad to have the hunt overwith!

In so cal, there are still gold phones available, and it has been 3 hours since they appeared.

Looks like suppy is catching up with demand.

So to elaborate on my earlier post..

HUGE decision to actually cancel my order and take the chance...BUT, this was the first time in 2 weeks i saw a 64gb gold pop up anywhere within 2hrs of me...And today at 6pm there were about 15 stores in the area that got the. I still had to go close to Boston to get it(45min away) and pay sales tax in addition :mad:.

As of now 5hrs later there are still a bunch available at the same store and many others in the area. This was a huge 64GB delivery at least here up in the northeast, largest since launch i would say..

Kind of sad in a way though...i would still like to know when my online order would have shipped :) Ya, 24th-28th...but I would like to have known the actual date :)

I think they do. I was hoping they don't.

Unfortunately they do...Finally landed one today after a rough 2 weeks, including losing a phone to computer glitch at retail store!!

Had to cancel my original online order, updated eligibility (5 minute process total) and luckily the phone was still available in my closest store.

Keep at it, staff say availability is increasing daily :)

Original Order: 64GB Gold AT&T on 9/27 @ 3pm EST

Finally after 4 days constantly stuck to my computer and wondering maybe I shouldn't have cancel my order on Monday which I place on Sept 20th, it finally pay off. The phone I wanted is in stock. Just reserve it and picking up when I wake up tomorrow. Yay I'm so happy. The nightmare is over and I can breathe a sigh of relief:D:D:D

I tried ordering in store pickup in NYC all day yesterday and most of the night. I wasn't able to find stock of a Gold Verizon 64GB. So I set my alarm for 4am and arrived at the Apple Store on 14th Street at 5am. 4 hours before the store opens.

I took a quick count and there were about 80 scalpers ahead of me camping out. Around 8am the store manager started handing out cards. I could over hear most people asking for 2 AT&T iPhones. When they got to me I asked for a Gold 64GB Verizon. The manager said they only had Verizon in Space gray.

I was so disappointed. I told the manager I've been out here since 5am and asked if I should try again on Monday. She said for me to wait to the side so they can finish handing out cards, and she will she what she can do. About 15 minutes later, I was handed a Gold 64GB Verizon card. :)

So those of you who are not finding stock for in store pickup in NYC, showing up 2 hours before the store opens is not early enough. Aim for 3-4 hours and you will get an iPhone.

Nice phone after a day with it, think i am going to return it though. AT&T is fast as hell compared to Verizon's LTE. But it doesn't hold the LTE signal as well, whenever AT&T loses it's LTE signal it takes forever for it to switch back even if you are now in a <90db area. Had to flick airplane mode on a couple times to get it to switch finally.

Other than that it's a decent upgrade from the 5s. Any normal person would say it's not worth it, but i have to have the latest.

I think i am just going to return this and use my upgrade on Verizon and stick with them for a couple more years.

Anyone know if the phone checker/apple site is updated during the weekends? I remember checking a couple weekends ago and nothing happened all weekend. Don't want to waste my day waiting if nothing is happening.

Can someone enlighten me on the buying process, I am in the states till 28th of this month and would like to buy T-Mobile 5s as I plan on using it overseas (in new zealand).

I have been checking the iphone-check website and cant seem to find any t-mobile stocks.Should I line up in front of a store early morning ? I am in the lehigh valley area(PA).

What are the steps involved in getting a "device only" iphone ?

They do update on the weekends, but supply isn't as large as on Mondays...still worth checking though :D

T-Mobile stock for in store pickup is hard to come by.

Line up a few hours before the store opens. Do not ask them for an "unlocked iPhone." They will say they don't have any. Ask for an AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon iPhone in the size and color you want. When it's time to pay tell them you do not want to do a contract, you would like to pay "device only." When it's rung as device only it is unlocked. I explained this to 2 people waiting in line when I bought mine yesterday and they walked out with 4 unlocked iPhones.

Anybody know if stores get new stock on Sunday?

Also, are the phones available for online reservation separate from those available to walk-in customers, or if the Apple webpage shows no stock for online reservation, is it safe to assume I would not be able to get one as a walk-in customer, either?

From my understanding the stock is separate. I waited in line 4 hours before the Apple store opened and checked constantly and the stock checker did not change.

When the store opened I was the 81st person in line with 80 scalpers buying 2 iPhones each ahead of me. After they bought theirs they ran to the back of the line to get cards to buy two more. That means the store had at a minimum 300 units for in store walk ins. Yet the stock checker never showed in store pick up being in stock.
