The first time I played RE4 I was low on ammo, but on the second play through on the unlocked difficulty -- I forget if this was hard or pro? --- I almost always had too much ammo. Each progression of game only got easier.

I've blown through resident evil 4 so many times that i can complete it and get all the treasures (without paying attention to the map) in about an hour. lol...

After playing the demo, I decided I would not pick this up. But my brother bought it and I was visiting this past weekend so we played co-op (1 system, split screen). Wow! What a blast! The "mandatory" co-op really makes it fun.

I have two complaints. The first is that it's not scary... like... not at all... like... not... even... one... bit. The reviews have all said this, but I thought they might be overstating. It's just not even close to scary. Great action game, but not scary.

Complaint two is that i feel like i'm playing RE4 with a modified story and great visuals. It's pretty close to the exact same mechanics. Same everything.

That being said, RE4 was probably my favorite game of all time so I'm enjoying this game. Anyhow, it's great fun, but my visit ends tomorrow and then i'm heading back home and I'm not at all upset about getting to return to Killzone 2...

That's what you get for playing these games on easy. :p

Games overall have been shorter and not just recently. Look at Halo 3, or Gears of War 1 - 2, or COD4 to name a few. They can be just as short, so why are you just now getting fed up?

G4TV noted Mad World is about 6-8 hours of play, which puts in in the same scope as RE5 according to XBOX World 360. They completed RE5 on Amateur in just over "4" hours. They completed normal in 7.5 hours. They mentioned it was brief compared to RE4. You're playing this game on the easy mode. Restart now. :D

I've made it a habbit to always choose the highest difficulty available from the get go and it helps. It's not like these newer games are as hard as the old-school games, so I have yet to reach a point of complete frustration. I can also save when I need to stop playing.

Anyways, there's always replay value. Just don't buy these games at $60, that's crazy.

Hey sam10685, which cheese weapon(s) are you using in RE4? :) I played the cheese way on my second time, but started from scratch on my 3rd and 4th plays. I did the same thing for Dead Space when playing it on impossible. I like the build up my weapons, etc. :)

Not scary? I haven't even played it and the video's create huge amounts of suspense/scary times when you watch them. Especially since the already most-of-the-way dead people run at you. My reaction time is all bad so I hope it's not too difficult.

Are you able to purchase ammo in this game? That was my biggest gripe in resident evil 4.

There is a work around – whenever you upgrade any weapons capacity, it give you a full clip of ammo. So it is always good not too reload at the end of a round, as your weapon will be replenished should you upgrade the capacity.

I remember thinking Contra was hard in 3rd grade...then we'd have sessions in College where we had it almost perfectly timed every play through...14 something minutes :p

Some games these days take me the listed playthrough, some not. I started skipping the scenes and dialogue on that Chopin RPG game (can't remember name) and came in hours under what they list for it...I just couldn't take it anymore.

I remember thinking the original super mario brothers was impossible. Now my little brother (18) can blast through it in about 4-5 minutes. lol...

I finally got the game today for half the price(lets just say I have an admire at the game shop;) ) and I'm going to need someone to party up with...my usual suspect would be Ed but I don't think he got the game.

Any takers?

I tried the demo from XBL and didn't quite care for it, but still being a fan from day one I decided to pick up RE 5 on release day. I couldn't bring myself to open the game until I played more of the demo, and I just can't get into it. RE 4 was a great game, but 5 just isn't up to snuff IMHO. They want it to be a 3rd person run n' gun title, yet they still hamper players with the "you have to stand completely still to aim and fire". That mechanic works great when you're in a mansion hallway or really tight quarters, but quite frankly, all the ambience of the series is gone in this newest installment.

I'll try and rent it via GameFly or BlockBuster, but so far color me largely unimpressed. Left 4 Dead is a much better game at this point.

I'm not a fan of this one. I played the demo as well as getting more time with it and I can say I wouldn't take this game for free. Actually I gave my copy away so I didn't even keep the free one :p

Sure, whats your psn?

Personally, I don't mind the controlls. I find them far easier than the ones for previous RE games, mainly the first.

If you've got a problem with the controlls, simply change them. And if you're complaining they are too 'slow' you can increase the sencitivity. I did.

I'm loving this game, already completed it twice. Trying to fully upgrade all weapons and get infinate ammo on them all. Got the gatling gun and longbow too :D

Mercs seems harder than it was on RE4 though, and I found it really difficult then too :(

At least it's stopped me from playing RE4 over and over. Gone throught that game over 20 times.

^ I'm enjoying it too actually. It's very enjoyable, though the controls regardless ARE cumbersome, and by that I don't just mean the controller layout. I mean in the way your character actual controls and interacts with the environment, and the camera system.

This game would be perfect if it had sorted out some of the awful cumbersome interaction in RE5, as it stands it really does hold back a game from greatness.

The controls are abhorrent. They wanna keep them like the old RE to be like RE. But hey, the game ISN'T SURVIVAL HORROR ANYMORE! It's just another action game. Using antique controls doesn't cut it.

I agree completely. Although personally, I think they need to go back to survival horror and stop this whole action thing. Go old school and make RE was it was meant to be. Or at least some combination of the two.

My only real complaint with the game is Sheva. Totally retarded, no matter what difficulty you play. You give her countless weapons, upgrade them, give her ammo, and she just uses the worst one. She barley attacks anything, stands in the way of your shots, and uses most of the herbs on herself (if she even gets attacked, which seems rare). Her accent annoys me too.

But the co-op mode is great (if you've got a friend that isn't as mentally challenged as her). The only fault with that is that she's left handed so to speak. Everythings backswords, and makes her slightly more difficult to controll.

The equipment system took some time to get used to too.

I've been playing the game and I like it a lot...its very fun and visually its one of the top BUT the controls hamper this game so much that it can turn people off from it. I really wish they would patch it and give the controls a more action oriented tweak because lets face it....this is a pure action/adventure game.

The other thing that I'm disappointed in is RE has lost it scare....theres nothing scary about this installment and although I'm enjoying the game I really do miss the scare tactics of the past games.

Overall its a good game with bad controls.

Note: Sheva is hot....yum yum.

It's already been confirmed that Capcom is rebooting the franchise for the next installment.

I'm thinking that most of these changes have been made, because most of the key Capcom guys have moved on.

I'm still going to buy this game if it comes to PC, I figure it's at least better than Lost Planet?

I wouldn't mind the controls, if only I hadn't played RE4 Wii Edition before. Controls in that were just awesome. Anyway, the game feels pretty solid, and the co-op is simply amazing and fits so well.

AI partner for me tends to just waste all ammo. Shooting people when they're on the ground instead of going there and stomping.

But wouldn't you agree that being frozen to the ground while aiming is simply stupid for this kind of a game? It's a failure of programming for something that should be a no brainer.

It feels like Survival Horror game controls (RE1, Silent Hill) on an Action/Shooter game such as Devil May Cry, or Metal Gear Solid... :p

But like I've said, I don't mind. A patch would be welcome though.

She stomp no. Too stupid. She go shoot shoot air, then use herby herb on she self. Baaaaad AI. Stewpy!!! Patch need. Patch need. Not as stewpy as dada though. He go wrong direction, and into furnace! STEWPY!!

For the most part yes, especially as most are saying this game is mostly action now. I didn't mind it for RE4, but I'll take Dead Space's approach hands down.
