Honestly, the notch is stupid and the iPhone 12 will look awkwardly outdated with that design in 2020.
The notch is a design fail. I’m not saying it makes a phone unusable, or that it has even has a particularly detrimental effect on the phone’s function (ignoring that it takes a visible chunk out of a full-screen video). It’s a design fail because it’s ugly as sin, it breaks visual symmetry and doesn’t need to be there. ”Liking” or “hating” is totally subjective—you’re allowed to like ugly things. I’m not here to deny you that right. But there is no argument to be made for the notch from an aesthetic point of view. It’s ugly, and it sucks. It's funny to see so much complaining about the notch. I was doing the same thing for a couple of years, bitching about how horrible it was and how I'd never, ever buy a phone with a notch.
Then I bought an iPhone 11 Pro Max because my desire for the camera upgrades exceeded my dislike of the notch. And guess what? Within TWO DAYS I completely forgot the notch was there, and it no longer bothers me.
Stop resisting the notch, it really isn't that bad. I'm more concerned about the PWM issues some people seem to have.
Seems like battery life and cameras will be the only significant compromises for the little guy. I can live with the latter, but battery life could be a deal-breaker if they aren’t able to at least match the new SE’s performance. I‘m guardedly optimistic the new processor will help a bit...I wonder what the battery life of the 5,4" iPhone 12 will be like. Hope it'll be the same 1,5-day battery as the iPhone 11's, but that was only possible due to the 6,1" form factor (bigger battery size) combined with the lower screen resolution. So it doesn't seem very likely that the 5,4" form factor will get a great battery, but yea, hope dies last. Would love to have that compact form factor with a 1,5-day battery.
It won’t.Just really... really hoping that it'll have USB C.

Not a smart reason to have a feature. I rather Apple implement it only when they can get the execution right. Those resolutions are insane. I just really hope it has a 120, not even because I want it, but just so that it has everything that competitors do
Because Apple is trying to diversity the supply chain for OLED screens in order to minimize costs. This one model will be used as a test bed. If the quality of the LG / BOE screens turn out good, then Apple will expand their use in the iPhone lineup.why is the more expensive iPhone 12 Max will not get the Samsung display and integrated layer of the iPhone 12?
first of all, no one likes the notch. However, there are some of us who don’t think that it’s that big of a deal. It’s like complaining about the camera bump, obviously it would be better if it wasn’t there, but I’ll take a better camera with a bump over a terrible camera that’s flush. The notch is a design fail. TLDR; to all you notch apologists, riddle me this: if a 100% notch-less, bezel-less phone was being offered alongside these iPhone 12 prototypes, how many among you would choose the version with the notch?
I rest my goddamned case.

3D Touch is dead, let it go. Haptic Touch is the future.
the notch-less iphone 12 for people who like enormous bezels that look terrible

The 13 pro max has my name on it.
How are these even close to the same thing. The notch cuts into the ui and video. Things work around it and pull down information because there is a gap in screen. A bump on a Camera on the back you never see or touch does nothing like that. You never notice a camera bump besides on a table. even it doesn’t cut into the screen real estate so it’s not a big deal.If Apple completely removed the notch, it would be great... for about 5 minutes. Then you would completely forget about it, and continue using your phone the exact same way.
It’s similar to removing the camera bump, it would be cool, but most people would never notice it because they keep a case on their phone.
Except...why does the Pro have a lower PPI?
It’s for professionals who are experts at using their phones and therefore possess certain skills which allow them to compensate for the lower pixel density. /sExcept...why does the Pro have a lower PPI?
I hear you. A counter argument, from my perspective as a hobby designer: whatever added screen real estate is gained by using the trapezoidal cutout shape doesn’t justify the aesthetic compromise. It’s essentially useless space. The phone would look so much better with a solid black bezel bar at the top, and I’m quite certain there would still be room up there for a battery status indicator and the date/time field (as has been the case with every notch-less phone since the dawn of phones.)first of all, no one likes the notch. However, there are some of us who don’t think that it’s that big of a deal. It’s like complaining about the camera bump, obviously it would be better if it wasn’t there, but I’ll take a better camera with a bump over a terrible camera that’s flush.
Likewise, I like Face ID, I like the good front facing camera, I like the stereo speakers, I like the ambient light sensor, so I’ll take a notch if I get all that in return.
To me, complaining about the notch is like the people that complained when the iPhone 6+ had The antenna bands. Obviously they’re not that aesthetically pleasing, but they served a purpose, and most people never noticed them.
Obviously, there’s random people on the Internet that will complain all day about tiny little things like this, but it’s really pointless, because The average consumer doesn’t care, so Apple doesn’t care.
The notch doesn’t take away any functionality, and there’s no functionality that’s added if it was removed. Yes, it looks nicer, but that’s it. If there was a way, with absolutely no compromises, to have a completely notchless iPhone with Face ID, fantastic front camera, and stereo speakers, and all that stuff, obviously I would prefer it. But the truth is, at the moment, there’s no way to get all that without some type of compromise.
Apple has compromised by using the notch.
And honestly, if removing the notch will make the iPhone even more expensive, most consumers are going to choose the lower price.
So an iPhone 12 Pro with a smaller notch, better screen, better camera, faster processor, new design, possible 120H, and more with the same starting price as the last one sounds like one hell of a deal.
