I'm tired of threads like these. Does anyone not realize the OP is just trolling? Who would honestly return a phone, because some developers haven't updated their applications in the four days since the iPhone 4 came out? The vast majority of developers did not have access to the iPhone 4 until it launched, and I'm sure many more haven't even been able to snag one yet. Obviously most applications aren't going to be updated for a while. I would give it three months until the vast majority of applications are updated for the retina display.

Oh yeah I'm trolling alright.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)

What would switching to a 3GS accomplish? You think the icons would be less blurry if you did that? I can understand some people having reasons to get the 3GS instead of the 4, but this is definitely not one of them.

Yeah, your default icons.

How hard is it to add another layer on top of your app? I heard PopCap didn't even have an iPad to release Plants vs Zombies for that platform but they did anyway.

You don't need the device to make the app. And considering the iPhone 4 known for <20 days, and released for <7 you shouldn't be complaining (*trolling*). Devs aren't at your beck and call.

The OP is being a baby. Developers are at NO obligation to provide you updates to applications you already purchased. Your $0.99 to the developer doesnt entitle you to that.

As a developer, people like the OP piss me off. Try developing an app before you b***h at us for not updating fast enough for your liking. Grow up.

I'm seriously considering returning my iPhone 4 and getting a 3GS.

I think this is probably the best move for you since you're so disappointed.

If you take it back to an Apple store tomorrow, I'm sure they'll be happy to give you a refund and set you up with the 3GS again. :)

I would agree. That said, I would just stop using these apps and go to another one. Reward the developers that are on the ball with making their app as up to date as possible. Overall, the developers who already have iOS 4 compatible apps out are the one dedicated to making the best product available. Reward them.

At the moment retina display is very very overrated. No developer is taking the advantage of the new display, all these blurry icons are really pissing me off. If there aren't more apps updated in about 30 days I'm seriously considering returning my iPhone 4 and getting a 3GS. I don't know if it's worth it to keep the new phone even though it has more ram. That's about the only positive so far.

return it imo

Well it's just a bit disappointing when you wait for a phone that's supposed to be high quality and the apps turn out like ****. I'm a very impatient person.

Just think about the thousands and thousands of app updates that developers have submitted or will soon submit to Apple for approval. The number of apps that need approving right now must be many times what the normal amount is, so Apple's app store approval team must be pretty backlogged. Not only that, but many developers may be doing more to their apps than just simply touching them up with higher resolution artwork and icons. They may be working on new features that take a little while to code and don't feel like releasing an interim update just so all of us can have fancy high resolution icons for our home screens. By the end of this week I'm sure there will be a great many more app updates that will better utilize the iPhone 4 display. Patience grasshopper...

Seeing as I don't have the iPhone 4 (Canadian) I assumed that apps would like the exact same in terms of graphical quality as they did on previous iPhones but they can take advantage of a better display if they choose?

and the faster processor, longer battery life, much better camera, and faster download speeds? To name a few. Oh, and the fact that if history holds, some features in iOS 5 will not work on the 3GS and will work on the 4. Don't get me wrong - I'm still a 3GS owner, and it's a fantastic phone with iOS 4. But if I were buying now, the iphone 4 is a no brainer.

Yes. Although next to Apple's application icons there is a noticeable decrease in quality for applications that have not been updated.
