Could this be related to the quality of the iPhone 5 people have been experiencing?
Was there a fallout for not having the quality control expected?

On the other hand, this is China who is very controlling over what info comes out and I wouldn't trust them to tell us the truth even if it was the truth!
Or in other words, he may say that, but that doesn't necessarily mean that is actually what happened. China is very big on censorship and making sure people only see what they want them to see.
Try $350 a month
6 day work week
10+ hour days
That comes to $14.58 a day
$1.46 per hour.
$8 buys 5 1/2 hours of labor

Maybe Apple should use some of it's $100bn to PAY IT'S GODDAMN WORKERS.
What are you talking about?
Does MacRumors or any other tech site put news items about riots and other unrest. No of course not. What about house break-ins. No, they are not mentioned either. It was only because it was Steve's home that it was a story. That is for general news site.
It's only the connection with the iPhone that makes it of any interest here. If you want to read why the guards were beating the staff then go somewhere else. I am not justifying it, I am concerned too, but this is not the place.
Come on, what do you really expect MacRumors to post?
Then will you buy an iPhone or iPad that sells 6 times of the current price?
These are NOT Apple's workers. These are Foxconn workers that build Apple, Microsoft, Dell, HP, and a dozen other major brand name devices. Foxconn along with probably a dozen companies BID for the work that Apple and the rest of the industry puts out for bid. Foxconn along with everyone else bids the work CHEAP to get it.
I have no idea where you may live sir, but in America I 100% support CAPITOLISM, I don't support SOCIALISTIC BS to spread the wealth to anyone that doesn't make what I or anyone makes. Apple operates on free market and companies BID to EARN that contract for work. The only reason Apple takes all the blame is because it's successful and I guess people will always take the side of the underdog. Even though the underdog put itself in that situation.
And hundreds of thousands of poeple line up to get these jobs at FOXCONN.
This is true, but better to base things on what is being reported than pure assumptions. And I'm not claiming that the reports are true, I'm just saying that waiting a few hours to see what all the various sources say might be better than jumping to immediate conclusions.
Move these jobs back to the U.S., there are plenty of unemployed people who would gladly take the job for minimum wage. Yes, it would cut slightly into Apple's profits, but the positive P.R. would be enormas.
Power to the People!
Some reports I've read suggest that the plant in question has a reputation for treating employees poorly (mandatory over-time etc.), and that the alleged assault on an employee by security staff was the final straw.
My point is maybe someone (management) cracked down on them for the quality of the i5, and the workers were fed up with it. Straw that broke the camels back kind of thing.
So because its an iphone you can ignore the human suffering ?What are you talking about?

I'd say it's better to wait and see if more info comes out. Of course if the only thing that comes out is what the "officials" say, than that's all we have to go on. But to me that would say almost nothing on what caused it. China has no qualms about outright lieing and covering up stuff so their word (The government officials) means almost nothing.
