Great for you ... :)

May I ask you two questions...

Just curious if you did the IR test.
If you don't, and you don't see IR in real life use, my advice is to not perfom this test...
No need to search for invisble issues...

What is the production week ?
You can get it with:

I didn't do IR test. Im not the type to look for problems that will not effect my life. Especially around gadgets. The production date of the new rMini with the good screen is week 48. Its the first time I ever returned a apple product for a bad screen or any type of problem that arose in the first 14 days. At times its hard to believe that someone can really get 5 to 10 bad screens in a row?

Thank you for your answer.

Agree with you, searching for problems like this only generate frustation. That's why I suggest to ignore this IR thing if you don't really see it in normal use...

An rMini with an even/uniform screen is a great device to use day to day, enjoy it !

I plan on in, its taking a bit to get used to coming from a iPad with a bigger screen, but I just love the form factor!

For one, I don't have a major issue with the yellowness, as long as it's uniform across the screen.

What does drive me nuts is the blue edge I have across the top of the screen of my rMini. I have to confirm the serial but I believe it was produced in Jan 2014, and purchased at Target.

Took mine to the store, and they said they could only swap it out once. What I really wanted was to go there, and keep looking until they found me the right one, but that wasn't going to happen. (Very un-Apple like given how well they've treated me in the past)

So they opened up the new one, and it had the same issue. I decided not to accept it.

We also have an iPad air, which had the blue tint, but I swear it went away.

Anyone found a fix for this?

The first iPad Mini i received had about half the bottom screen extremely yellow. I handed it in on tuesday and received my replacement today. It has a slight yellow lower part of the screen, but it seems to me this is as good as it gets: ?

This was captured with an iPhone 5 camera which seems to add a more pinkish hue to the picture.

That absolutely is not as good as it gets. I have an Air and not an rMini, but I've seen plenty of rMini with beautiful white screens. There's no reason you should have to settle for a yellowish screen.

You know, I completely agree with you. I went to the Apple store and returned it today. Hopefully I'll get a new one next week. We can't pay premium price for a half-ass product.

Unfortunately, my personal belief is that every rMini has this yellowish tint but in varying degrees. I am on my 3rd rMini that was manufactured towards the end of January and it still has a very light yellow tint. It doesn't bother me as much as the first 2 and I didn't try returning it for the fear of getting a worse screen. My previous 2 minis were manufactured in December and had more visible yellow tints.

Good luck with your search for a screen without tint :)

I purchased 3 ipad minis recently to add onto my AT&T family plan. Two had absolutely even screens with no yellow, and one has the yellow bottom third of the screen. It's very obvious when they are all three compared side by side.

The even tinted screens really are totally even, so such a thing does exist.

My wife uses the yellow tinted one, and will probably never notice it. She absolutely loves the thing. It would drive me crazy given the price of these things, but most would never notice or care. That's great for Apple, because I'll bet a good third of them have some degree of this issue.

FWIW, the good screen models both have serial numbers starting with DLXM. They yellow one has a serial number starting with F4XKLX.

Interesting, mines a DLXM and has an even, white screen.

What's the production date, etc for your iPads?

The two DXLM ones are production week 3 (January), and indicate Manufacture in factory DX(China Foxconn)

The one with the yellow tint is production week 52 (December), and indicates manufacture at F4(China, Shanghai - Pegatron-Protek)

I just realized that the second iPad I had (which I've now returned) was also DLXM and it had the yellow tint (see picture above). It was even produced in Week 7 (February). That being said, my first one was an F4, and it was a lot worse.

I've been through 4 rMini's. First was from my local Apple Store and had really bad yellow on the bottom 3rd. I ordered another from online and that was ok so I returned the first to store. The online one then developed interlacing so I swapped that out. The replacement also had interlacing so I pushed for a boxed retail replacement. That's the one I have now. Fantastic screen and no interlacing. Only niggle is a faint blue line along the top edge, about 3mm deep. Bugs me less than interlacing so I'll keep this one. At first I thought it was 7.1 transparency lol.

I don't think so, the ones I saw on display at JBHifi and Yoobee (New Zealand) looked fine.

I believe this as well. I bought my first rMini on launch night in November. It had a horrible yellow tint towards the bottom two inches of the screen, very noticeable, so I returned it. Where I work at, we have one up on display. It is a demo unit, and has almost a perfect screen, with ever so slightly yellow tint in the top left corner. Went to an apple store, and their rMini had the yellow tint all up and down on the left side. I desided to try again and asked for a rMini for my birthday. The one I have now is hard to explain. It's almost uniform, almost like an egg shell white, which is nice on the eyes. But the top right side of the screen about an inch from the edge, is the ever so slightest, almost like a blueish white. I'll add a picture of it here.

All in all, I think it's one of the better screens I've seen, so I think I'm going to keep it. Can everyone see that it's not very noticeable?

Here's a screenshot of mine, definitely noticeable but not sure if it's bad enough to warrant replacing it.

Yeah, you will have to take a picture of it with another camera. Like what the other person said, taking a screen shot isn't going to show it.
