Finally!!

Finally!!! I have a perfect screen!!! well as close to perfect as you can get!!
After 11 ipad mini's I decided to return it and give up in store. I had one last attempt to order online hoping it would be from a different batch. It just arrived today and right when I powered it on I could tell from the apple logo the screen looked brighter. When it came to the registration/setup/select your country where it's a clear white screen I got super nervous. To my complete surprise the screen was a bright even white!!! no YELLOW AT ALL.. I finished setting up the ipad and just opened safari and loaded the grey scale and split the keyboard. Both sides look even!!! AMAZING. To be honest I was expecting the same issue so I am definitely pleasantly surprised. I can now quit this thread and not visit it again. My serial number is DLXLT from Foxconn week 49. I've had week 48's-50's from Foxxconn before and they all had the yellow. So it's definitely luck of the draw.

Good luck to the rest of you.

Don't be so quick. The problems may appear tomorrow. Do the complete suite of tests every day and keep us updated. You may need to go for another dozen. :D

Congratulations.
my problem is that I have the gift card money and think you can not use the online Apple Store.

You can use gift card on the apple store. When you check out just select gift card and type in your PIN.

hahaha stop raining on my parade.. Yes I did not do the IR test.. A lot of people saying the even color screens suffer from IR issues. I think I'll pass on doing that unless I notice it in real life usage. CROSSING MY FINGERS :)

Tsk tsk tsk. That's not how we roll here. Test your screen for IR, dead pixels, hair and dust under the glass, backlight bleeding, etc. For example, my iPad is undergoing a 1-year image retention test, because without doing it I can't claim that I don't have an IR.

Glad to hear you got a good one. Enjoy.

here are some pics.. It's pretty hard to take a good pic of a screen from a crappy phone camera. I've seen quite a few ipad screens these past weeks and I must say this one is very evenly lit. No light bleeding, no yellow tint. Looks a lot better in person than the pics! :) I'm quite happy and hope everyone can find a screen to their satisfaction.

Good luck all

Home Button on Left where the yellow tint usually appears and starts from

Home button still on the left. The grey scale actually looks as close to perfect as i've seen on these ipads. Hard to focus on a single part of the screen. It actually almost looks identical in person. But clearly no more yellow!!!!

Woa! That's a lot of yellow!!! Is this the worst out of 12? :D

you are so evil :D i must go return and try another 12 now..

but seriously i do feel bad i had to go through so many devices to find a decent one.. Sucks I wasted so much time exchanging too.
I've owned several apple devices and never had to do this.

Here are a list of apple devices i've owned.

iPhone - no issues
iPhone 3G - no issues
iPhone 4 - no issues
iPhone 5 - exchanged twice. First one was due to a rattle, 2nd one was due to a thumping sound. Turned out the battery connector was missing a metal bracket!!!
iPad 1 - no issues
iPad 2 - no issues
iPad 3 - no issues
2 iPad Airs - no issues, one for my gf, one for my mom
2009 MacBook Pro 13 - no issues
13" Macbook Pro retina display - no issues
iPad mini retina - went through 12 devices to find one with out a yellow screen.

So I've never really returned/exchanged so many devices before. Only had issues with the iphone 5 and the recent mini. Hopefully Apple get's their QA in check soon and this doesn't become a pattern with their newer devices.

Just curious, if you eventually did the IR Marco test on it...

If you didn't did the test yet, don't do it... No need to search for a non-issue...

I did not run the IR test. I've been reading books, browsing the net, emails, and gaming and have not noticed any issues. Even of I did run the tests and it showed IR I would not care if I don't see it in real life usage.
If you are curious I can run it just for you. Heh. Outcome won't impact that I'm happy I finally got a decent display :)

WOW, finally, 10th iPad is perfect.. Just wow, I was thinking to give up, but here you go! Perfect white and even screen. Good luck guys, there are good screens out there, too sad that we are forced to exchange so many iPads and play QC for Apple..

What was the serial on yours? err.. first 4 rather?

After 10 iPads I really think the manufacturing week and screen quality are not connected in any way.. I had screens from 44th week to 52th. My 10th and perfect screen was from 47th week. DLXLQ..

I also thought - the newer the better, but... I already had 2 from 52th week and they were terrible, orange/yellow tint at the bottom.

One decent that I had was F4LLW (51th week). This screen was quite good, I've tried to deal with it, but after 3 or 4 days I've noticed that this SLIGHT(!) yellowish hue at the bottom annoyed me. So I've returned it, bought 3 new iPads, 1 was okay (47th week, slight yellowish), 1 was terrible (45th week) and the 3rd one was perfect (I still wonder why they send me 3 older iPads, I've ordered few days ago, but since I've got my perfect one, I don't really care).

I decided to risk it, have given me the money from the gift card (was not valid for the apple store online) and I have asked on the website of apple other ipad (will be the sixth), comes to me tomorrow, and I hope the display is properly .

Hi pixelements,
Nice to hear. :)
Just technical curiosity: did you ran the Image retension test on it?
Thank you for your answer.

Hi yoshimeow,
Eventually, did you ran the IR test ?
Just curious to know the outcome... But I certainly understand you prefer to avoid searching about imaginary problems... ;-)

@pixelements
Ok... I perfectly understand you :)
