It's a defective display and we are Apples quality control inspectors.Do you have any idea of what that could be ?
It's easy, just keep taking them back till you get a good one.

Slightly off topic, my display has the "gamut" issue where it looks less saturated than my 5S and my retina MacBook Pro. Is that an issue with all the retina minis or are some of them better?
I don't really care about gamut, i'd only like to have a plain uniform white screen.
Do you have any idea of what that could be ?
Gamut is not an issue. It just that it's different from the Air and iPhones.
rMini is the same gamut as iPad 2 and the original mini. So will they get better? Not with this generation.

STOP yammering about serial numbers and screen colors! The serial codes do not equal the panel manufacturers. Repeat. There is no correlation between serial codes and screen manufacturer. There are good and bad screens from EVERY factory, and the codes are about the date and location of the production, NOT the panel maker.
It's been said here 1000 times. And it's been proven 10000 times. One guy's STFUXL ipad is great while another's is plaid.
FORGET WHAT YOU THINK YOU KNOW ABOUT SERIALS BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW SQUAT.
I can confirm. Compared in store the gamut of an iPad 2, iPad Mini 1 and Retina iPad Mini and they all had the same gamut, slightly washed out compared to the Air which looks like on a totally different level, really pops. Look out for the following icons: iMessage, iTunes, App Store and the music app.
Is the problem because it is yellow at the bottom or because it is blue at the top?

I bought a rMini at Best Buy yesterday and when I got home with it I had a dual colored screen! About two inches from the bottom was all yellow and it jumped right out at me the moment I turned it on! I tried using it on bright for a few hours but it never changed. I returned it for another this morning and held my breath as I turned the replacement on. This one is PERFECT
. I now have an iPad Air 32 LTE and rMini 32 with perfect screens.
My point here is all those messages I read here on MacRumors about people receiving faulty screens and members sorta dismissing it as being OCD? The defective screens are real and the people reporting them are reporting some pretty harsh defects.
I have purchased way too many iPads over the years, this is the first time I received one that was truly defective. I am now a believer, Apple needs better quality control. These devices are way too expensive to accept anything less then perfect. Make sure before you leave the Apple store or Best Buy yours is not defective!

Mine is getting returned/exchanged today. Can't decide if I want to wait and/or possibly upgrade to a 32GB model.

Yup...that's what mine looked like. Unacceptable to me.
My new one is a 32GB Silver and it's great.
My other one is also a 32GB Silver and it has a very light yellow tint but this is on the left side, not the bottom/top. I see it, but my wife and kids don't notice it and it's their rMini.....so I'm keeping it. Don't need to exchange just to get one that's worse.

Yea I wouldn't mind it if the whole screen was uniform, but the difference from top and bottom of the screen is too much. Looks like I won't be getting another for a little while since my local Best buy is out of stock. Might just wait until I go home for break (at college right now) and buy one at the apple store so that if there are more issues I can get a no hassle replacement (they wouldn't replace my first rMBP since I bought it at best buy and only offered to replace the screen. so I had to exchange it at best buy and seeing that they're in the habit of banning people from returns isn't very appealing).
