My rMini has the same issue. The bottom 1/4 of the screen is noticeably yellow. I made a Genius Bar appointment and had the Genius look at it. He basically insulted me and told me that I should get my eyes checked. He refused to replace the iPad. As soon as I turned around to walk out of the store, I heard him turn to another person behind the bar and say, "Are you f@#$ing kidding me? What a waste of my time." Of course I went to find the manager and told him about the situation, but he didn't seem to care much either.

My only option is to return the iPad to MacMall, which I ordered from to save on tax. I'm regretting that decision now.

I've got two rMinis here. Both screens seem to be different. One is a little more pink, mostly from an angle, but seems more uniform, and the other is a bit more yellow.

The pink one has a small piece of dust under the screen but it's uniform.

The yellow one doesn't seem as quite uniform as the pink. It also seems a tiny bit less sharp and has a little bit of light leak from the bottom left corner.

Neither have an image retention issue.

Not sure which to keep. I shouldn't have to choose the lesser of two evils, but have a feeling I'll end up with something worse if I get a third. If my first one didn't have that small speck of dust under the screen, I wouldn't have even opened the second. Now I'm tempted to buy another.

Poor quality thanks to iPad mini 1G.

And I have the same bleeding as pixelements. I'm gonna wait now for 2-3 weeks and then exchange it.

Wow, that's a really crappy experience. This is why I prefer to buy straight from Apple. Any problems and it's an easy return/exchange.

maybe i'm a pessimist, but his experience is more in line with what I expect. That way I'm always surprised with a good or smooth experience lol. What's sad is that my return to best buy was in and out in 5minutes, they asked why and then checked to see everything was included and i had my refund immediately. I suppose if I did this 5 more times I'd probably get banned though lol.

I'd be complaining to apple on the phone for such treatment, you'd paid for a premium product.

This makes my blood boil and is one of the main reasons why I absolutely detest dealing with Geniuses.

Mine is getting returned/exchanged today. Can't decide if I want to wait and/or possibly upgrade to a 32GB model.

That's how mine looks although the yellow is not as pronounced and is confined to only the bottom 2 or 3 inches. But I also have light leakage in the same bottom corners. I'm debating whether or not to exchange it. It's such a hassle but I really don't want to be bothered/annoyed by a screen like that for the next year or two or how ever long I plan on keeping my device.

I've just picked up my new retina mini today and the first one had really noticeable yellow tint on the bottom half of the screen, showed it to one of the staff who didn't notice anything but agreed to arrange a replacement.

They had to actually return it, then i had to do an online order again, as they don't have stock just to swap out supposedly, 45 minutes later got a replacement.

Its not as bad but was pushed for time to check it out properly in store, but now looking at it again its a little better than the last one but theres a definite transition across the screen.

On comparing it with my non-retina mini, the retina screen is much warmer, the old one is very cold but the whites are perfect. Going to return this retina one too and seriously considering just waiting a while or going for the air! Really disappointing, perhaps if I didn't read these forums/reviews I wouldn't have noticed it but as soon as you see a flaw its hard to stop seeing it!!!

Same issue here

yellowish screen towards the home button

its unacceptable for a premium product to have an uneven tinted screen.

will return to the online store in january thanks to the holiday return policy

then ill go to the local apple store and try to get an acceptable one there hopefully the faulty ones are sorted out till then.

btw. yellow uneven tinted screens on iPads are not new for me, had it with the iPad 1 and iPad 3 , just laste years mini was a good one right from the start for me.

Serial starting with DLXL

image retention also present with this one according to that test. However i don't think it affects real world usage scenarios.

i just want an even tinted screen thats all

too much to ask for from apple?

This is definitely an issue, but not for all. I got mine on release day and no issues at all.

You're better than me...They would have given me my money back right then. One for calling me crazy, two for being a pipe as I walked off.

Yeah, I was still fuming about this the day after it happened. I called up Apple's corporate phone number yesterday and was transferred to a regional retail representative who deals with Apple Stores in my area. I told him about my experience and he assured me that the situation would be "dealt with." As for my iPad mini issues, he said he had arranged for my rMini to be replaced at the store with no questions asked, or if I wanted to return it, then he would call my MacMall account exec and verify that there are defects with the iPad. This would prevent me having to pay the restocking fee.

I'm leaning towards returning the rMini and getting an Air instead. I really don't want to keep playing the screen lottery in hopes of getting a perfect rMini. It sounds like the Airs have pretty consistent, high-quality screens.

I would beg to differ

well I picked mine up last thursday "J" serial LG display with the yellow tint on the left and am afraid of returning and playing this game again. I feel that official apple store's in theory should have newer batches if we're believing that newer screens = increased chance of good screen, but I haven't decided yet.

Got my rMini today. Bottom half is yellow.

Unfortunately, I'm nowhere near an apple store. If I send it back, will Apple send a replacement immediately or after my unit is received?

Can we all agree that DLXL is the first run of the rMinis and pretty much all suffer from the yellowing at the bottom?

Honestly doubt it has anything to do with it being the first run. I have experienced yellow screen issues with an iPad 4, iPad air and now my mini.

First rMini had a grungy, yellow tint on the bottom 1/4 of display. Replacement is much better, perhaps a vey slight hint of yellow.

It must be the optical coating or colour filter application. Tilting my Mini up and down causes the tint to shift, disappear, or appear on opposite end.

I'm noticing the same yellowish tint on the bottom of my rMini screen. My guess is that its universal with all rMini's possibility with all Apple devices period. :) I'm going to keep my rMini because I'm pretty sure in a couple weeks I'll forget all about it.

I did finally get a uniform screen with almost no yellow tint....so they do exist.

I couldn't stand the tint on the bottom of mine.....I always saw it.

My other rMini has a subtle tint on the left side like the Air's have.

I'd recommend also to stop visiting this forum for a while too. Then you'll definitely forget about it.
