I think folks here would have been ultimately happier if there had been no tracking to obsess over.

I agree, or no tracking until it was in the destination country.

If I got an e-mail saying delivers 9/26 and UPS just said it was overseas and the first real scan was in Anchorage or Louisville I would get the phone at the same time, but I wouldn't have spent half as much time thinking about the whole thing.

I think too much information has caused a lot of unnecessary stress for many people and a lot of wasted time for UPS and Apple's customer service teams.

At this point I trust UPS. The departure time finally has a flight with a matching time and it matches up with other flights on previous days from Hong Kong. The guy at my local customer center said it would definitely be available for pick up on Monday and that it would probably even be ready tomorrow.

No clue, I would have asked the moron I talked to but it was like trying to talk to a stubborn child. "As I told you several times, sir, UPS's tracking information is wrong, ignore it." Couldn't get a word in edgewise with this guy.

I'll probably end up calling back after my temper cools down and ask if they'll upgrade us to Saturday delivery. After the hellish nightmare this pre-order has been, it's kind of sad that we have to ask and that it's not being done automatically.

Think I spoke to the same guy yesterday. I told him that I felt like I was talking to a bowl of tomato soup and finally hung up on him. Useless.

I frankly don't get why you guys keep calling and wasting hours of your days on calls to agents that don't know any more information than we do. The phones will come by Monday. If they don't, then we can be concerned. But calling these agents will just aggravate you and waste your time. Sit back and go grab a cocktail.

Spoke to an Apple Rep via chat. He first said that he wasn't ruling out delivery today because of UPS tracking system. He then said they were working for delivery tomorrow should it not come today.

What came next was the dagger.
He said he would not expect it here today, that they don't do Saturday deliveries, and to expect it on Monday.

He also told me, despite the fact that the UPS report said weather delay, that there was a mechanical delay as well. So I got both of those excuses

They also aren't compensating at this point and the only purpose of filing an investigation is to give us peace of mind that our phone will get here as fast as possible.

He contradicted everything he told me, so who knows.

I just saw I finally have a departure scan out of Korea

09/23/2016 9:39 P.M. A mechanical failure has delayed delivery. We're adjusting plans to deliver your package as quickly as possible. / Your package was released by the clearing agency.

This is my last update

Yes, and I'm one of the ones that missed the flight :(
Missed the flight as well, unless we just didn't get scanned maybe there are two pallets?!?!? and the other one got scanned and we didn't?

I spoke to a Manager of Apple Online Store and she said she would compensate me after I got the phone. What exactly that wil be is a question. I'm shooting for an iPad Pro 12.9". Lol. Hopefully a color matched Apple Dock. It's $49 and probably cost them less than $25. Just don't use cases and that's what they usually offer.

I also wouldn't go by what one rep says good or bad. Don't think anyone knows how Apple will handle Saturday deliveries if it comes to that.

In order for them to scan each phone on a pallet, they would have to unbundle the entire skid. There are likely hundreds of pallets on each plane with perhaps a couple hundred phones on each. Logic would dictate that UPS is tracking each pallet as one shipment until they arrive in Louisville where they will be broken into individual shipments. Until that happens, and each phone is individually scanned I wouldn't put too much faith in the times listed on the UPS tracking page.

I know at this point most of what I say will be sarcastic unless I have good information

Two more flights coming out of Korea per Flightaware relatively soon. One in about 2.5 hours (UPS99A) and the other in about 3 hours (UPS 6099)

Ive come up with a theory that could possible explain the Mechanical failure and stuck at customs issues. If you guys have every watched any shows on TV dealing with boarder patrol, we know that usually anything being shipped in large quantities must be screened and this usually means x-rays and drug dogs. Now I wonder if the "mechanical failure" was the x-rays machine at customs.

If true this could possible explain why it took days for it to be repaired as most likely the equipment had to be inspected, parts ordered, wait for those parts to arrive, installed the parts, and finally packages can continue to be screen and cleared.

I noticed a lot of people are getting the "mechanical failure.....Package was released" message. Just a thought.

In other news, im trying to patiently wait for my UPS driver to deliver my phone. Its almost like the waiting never ends.

How do you explain UPS listing them as being in Korea for 2 days when they never even went to Korea?

There's a lot going on with this thread. Let's sum up.

- somebody screwed up. Maybe Apple, maybe UPS but probably some contractor paid by Apple and/or UPS.

- There is no silent recall. That's nutty. There seems to be a lot of us in this particular group, but apple has sold millions and millions of these already. If there was something wrong they'd announce it. This isn't a spy movie.

- It's very unlikely anyone giving out info on the phone with Apple or ups is lying or covering anything up. It is very likely, however, they don't know what the hell is going on.

- This is a very stupid thing to get upset about.

- Most of us know that and are upset anyway.

- it's possible that part of the screw up is we are all tracking the wrong packages and ours on trucks for delivery. But if that were the case some of us would have already got them.

- I think they are on their way to Alaska right now.

- Who knows what the actual **** up was, but here is my guess:

The phones missed their connection in Korea. Maybe the pallet was damaged. Maybe it didn't clear customs for some reason. But then their wasn't enough room for them on the next flight, or the flight after that, or that one after that. It was only after they stayed there for 2 days that someone realized and they began working the problem.

Haven't kept track but from where did you hear this? A UPS rep? I was told some went to Korea, some stayed in China, some went to Korea then China.

Good question, I have no idea. Again it was just a theory to keep my mind occupied. Maybe the big "screw up" that was rumored was someone from UPS scanning the pallets as shipped when they were still at customs or before they went into customs?

Yes. They admit that they never went to Korea and claimed that they have been scanning stuff ahead of time... and I have the whole phone call recorded to.
