edit: This isn't the e-mpire forums btw :p

And you should feel lucky that it isn't. You would be banned and tossed out by now with all the trolling and flamebaiting you do
(or at least banned from sections of the board). On any real gaming board behavior like yours is never tolerated. However maybe you stay here since you know you can get away with your trolling and flambaiting because of the bias/lack of moderation from the moderators, more power to you i suppose

It really can't be that tired for you if you insist on throwing your one two punch in every Sony topic....now you owe them no favors but yet you still got a jab or two for em huh...thats the tired thing there(you do make it interesting just to see what you'll say next so rock on)

I think this would of been a different story if this was included on another console....:)

Some kids will never satisfied 2ny, of course in this kids ways its more a matter of being blind to anything that his opinion doesn't cover. Thing is with kids like him you could literally swap the PS badge for a Nintendo one and i guarantee you that his arguments would immediately change. It's kind of a kin to people that blindly vote down the party line in politics, its blind allegiance and not wanting to see the whole picture.

Really in the end I suppose he does no more than prevent himself from experiencing everything that gaming has to offer. It does however get real old fast :rolleyes:

This tired argument again
I like MS, they've done a stellar job. (unlike some) I owe Sony no favours so I'm not going to buy a system that isn't appealing and with a high price it's even less important.

A £300 40gb PS3 with b/c would be perfect at this stage. That's where I stand.

Problem is, it is the reality of things. I think cutting b/c is a bad move but I see WHY the did it. Chances are most people won't know/care about it but people DO CARE about price, as evidenced by the hoardes of people whining about it. Again, they are aiming at the same audience the core 360 is aimed to; ignorant consumers that look only at price, not at features.

And please don't give me the  over this, since you too are among the biggest broken records here on MR.

Forget so soon...

To reitterate, I wouldn't have liked the Wii to have HD because I can't afford £200+ for a games system. Is that so hard to understand? I've never paid more than that for a video games system. I also wouldn't want a system where games cost as much as 360/PS3 games, since I'm used to Gamecube and PC game prices...

No, the e-mpire forums are just funny. "Post why the PS3 rocks so we can convince the internet why it doesn't suck", course all fanboy forums are the same. It's just funny at the moment with Sony boards because they've gone from first to third in a single gen and fans don't like that :D ! As seen here too.

Just to dispell any myths (once aaagain)- I like the whole Half Life series more than anything on a Nintendo machine. The 360 is brilliant, especially now the pro is at £200 (gonna be a good Xmas for them). The PS1 was better than the N64, IMO. Sega and Commodore were my machines of choice as a kid. Nothing can touch a Nintendo handheld. If you frequent the forums then you'd know I have many crits for the Wii, but you must be...

We got details of this PS3 at work today.

Not much of a spy-shot, but here you go. It is going to be Europe only, retailing at £299, and the PS3 is getting another £75 knocked off it, down to £350. This is as of Wednesday.

I can't see the logic behind removing 2 of those expensive USB ports, but there you go...

Why would they remove Super Audio CD playback? Not that anyone cares anyway, but isn't that just in software?

And no LAN cable!! Thats it, they are teh d00m3d now!! :p

SACD playback is through HDMI only anyhow, since I don't have a receiver that uses HDMI I can't even play SACD's with my current PS3 :)

I think this will be a good deal for Sony, at least make them more competitive in the holiday season. Lack of BC might net them some losses from whiners, but those same whiners were probably whining about the price before this announcement. So chances are Sony really didn't lose their business (the whiners) since they never had it in the first place. I find that most these kids that whine just do it to whine and never intended to buy the system in the first place.

Yeah, lack of BC is the only complaint I have, but it's not big enough to make this a negative thing. This will help Sony.

No LAN cable or SACD support? Nobody will even notice.

Lovely, more things to buy to just play a game.

We're planning on getting a wireless bridge in our house so I'll bookmark this thread.

Bit of a double standard, no? You're willing to buy a wireless bridge for the 360 but not a (cheaper) USB hub for a PS3...
Not to mention that the XBox 360 doesn't have four USB ports either. Nor does the Wii.

Eeek

So those in the USA get the 80gb or 40gb version. Nice

However in Europe Sony plan to only make available the 40gb version  They have decided to phase out the 60gb starter pack version as stock is depleted they will no longer renew that SKU.

They believe one SKU in Europe ? So why does it have to be the semi-butchered bast*rd child ?

UK, October 8, 2007 - Sony has confirmed reports that, following the announcement of its lower-specced 40GB PS3 on Friday, the older 60GB model will be phased from European retail over the coming months.

Sony's new 40GB PlayStation 3 slashes 126 GBP off the original price of the 60GB console, but sacrifices two USB ports, the multi-memory card slot and backward-compatibility with PSone and PS2 titles in the process.

As announced on Friday, the 60GB model will retail as a 349 GBP Starter Pack, including SIXAXIS controller and two first-party titles. However, Sony UK has told IGN, "Our offering in the UK market place for Christmas are the two SKUs announced on Friday but, as the 60GB stock is depleted, the 299 GBP 40GB SKU will be the only version available going forward".

Commenting on the new downgraded 40GB machine, Sony noted, "[it] represents all the power and potential of PlayStation 3 at a very compelling price. Whilst the feature set of the 40GB is a result of extensive feedback and research, all the 'missing' features, should some consumers require them, are easily upgraded with USB memory card readers, USB hubs, or bigger external USB or internal HDs.

So all new PS3s will not be able to play PS2 games in Europe? It's not just an option (unless you get a current model before they're all gone)? WTF.

Seems that way. Wouldn't want to speed ill of their decision though, us Nintendo and M$ fanboys.

We didn't get any word of them phasing it out [60Gig version], only that it was to get an extra £75 knocked off it (Which, FWIW, I thought was desperation) but it seems as if that is to clear stock. Strange times at Sony.

Its still B/C with all PS1 games, and as I stated several times once they achieve 100% S/W emulation all those 40GB models will be PS2 B/C via a simple F/W update. So quit your bitching and go find something worth while to complain about. First its too expensive, and now its a good price but you want more features.......ffs people - buy it or don't.

Or maybe long-time videogame collectors like me who will just use the PS2 for PS2 games... (I like to use the original console for the game.)

true but the upconversion feature in the 80/60GB model's is pretty awesome. It doesn't make them look like a new game or anything but basically makes them look decent on a big tv.

Sorry.

Basically (for those who don't like clicking links). Sony said they won't be offering updates for the gimped PS3 to play PS2 games.

So you only believe Sony when it fits your argument......

And you don't believe it when it fits with yours?

Why would they enable it? It'd mean building a software renderer or licensing out one of the renderers built by emulator devs. They have no reason to. Then they might not have turned people away and looked like a laughing stock again by saying "it won't play PS2 games at all". Which is why I believe them this time.

So what happens with the PS3 Rock Band game with it's proprietary wireless adapters and people who buy the 2 USB port PS3? A bit screwed no?

Lovely, more things to buy to just play a game.

One has nothing to do with the other.
Rock Band will use the built in Bluetooth; USB is not required and nothing extra is necessary to play the game to its full capacity.

your point = moot :p

Well I suppose technically you could play Rock Band without this if you fancy being an air guitarist?

Come on now

Still trying to find the pic of a PS3 with 2 of these dongles in the back, unless they've now got all "controllers" working through 1 dongle?

^Are you still going ahead with this....give it a rest would ya:rolleyes:
This is real simple...80 for those who care 40 for those who dont....what does it matter to you...you owe them no favors plus you stated thousands of times before that you dont want a PS3...we get it.

MRU that article is kinda messed up....they said they will have the 40 and the 80 but will phase out the 60 just leaving the 40? I'm I missing something?

They said they will phase out the 60 and keep the 40 but made no mention of the 80 availability.

Since when does built in bluetooth require a USB dongle?
Oh that's right...it doesn't.

That and he will never find a photo with anything sticking out the back or a PS3 since the USB ports are on the front ;)

I doubt he will get over it and will continue to troll in any thread that mentions Sony.

I'm confused too. IMO: The 60Gig is going away from everywhere. Europe will end up the 80Gig (big bucks with PS2 compat) or the 40Gig (budget model). The USA will have only the 80Gig (at the $599)...
