Why does it matter that it's the 10th anniversary? They didn't say anything for the 10th anniversary of iPod or MacBook Pro either. Screwing their whole development cycle over an arbitrary thing like "10th anniversary" that 99% of consumers don't care about anyway would be a terrible move.
Apple isn't particularly sentimental but the 10th anniversary of the most successful product in consumer electronics history is something they could easily capitalize on. I'm assuming they are planning on it but if all the elements don't come together, I doubt they will try to shoehorn an anniversary edition where it doesn't belong.

Dual vertical could be interesting.

Photos could be really wide or vertical by capturing either both side by side or both vertical, some kind of image stabilisation and stitching to pan them apart. Then also it could be used together to help low light and zoom and also used for shallow depth effects too.

Personally I would love to finally see wide angle options for video. While the zoomed in video is pleasing. I would thing a super wide 4k video option a great added extra.

They can't raise the 5.5 inch price simply because they feel like fitting a new model in between. I have no problem paying $100 more for 5.5 inch model but they have to offer more than current model. They could offer a 4K screen, additional AR cameras, etc. Extra storage and new colors don't justify price increases.

Tell that to new 2016 MacBook Pro owners! They got big price increases for a touch bar and less ports. Yay!

5.0 inches now? Damn, I was really hoping for a lineup with 4.9" and 5.1" sizes. Oh well, maybe next year.

In all seriousness, I think their lineup should be something like this:

5.7" (losing bezels so the case stays similar to or smaller than the current 5.5")
4.7" (losing bezels for a case smaller than the current 4.7")
Smaller SE no longer needed since the 4.7" wouldn't be much larger.

Uncle Timmy's hard at work with his inconsistent nonsense again.
By "inconsistent nonsense" you mean making Apple boatloads of cash? Man, this forum is filled with the whiniest bunch of people I've ever seen and it just keeps getting worse. iPhone 7 is an incredible device and is selling like hot cakes, Apple Watch is also killing it this year. My 7 Plus is the most incredible device I've ever used, an absolute masterpiece. The doom and gloom that people keep predicting just doesn't materialize.

A new model with again different features (that I'm totally not interested in)? This is getting very confusing...

Combine this with an atrocious Mac lineup, legacy software and a strong MS and I will be inclined to switch...sorry Apple...
Can all of you people who threaten to switch just do it already so we don't have to deal with your constant whining on Mac forums?

They should release a smaller phone, not a larger one. A 4'' with all the flagship features or a 4.7 without bezels. The current 4.7'' is way too big…

I can understand 3 different iphones.

But someone needs to explain the business aspect of releasing

7
7s
8

all at once.

Please explain how it makes any sense.

Either they are all gonna be the 8, or its going to be 7, 7s, 7x

I have a feeling that the iPad would be this way too.

The messy lineup aside, a 5" model would make sense as the 4.7" replacement if they are going bezeless. Similarly, the 4.7" would be the SE replacement.

Although why would the vertical camera only be in the 5" and not 5.5"? Unless one is the 2017 redesigned model?

They can and will. Add more features but exclude them from the 4.7 and 5 models and bam....price hike and we all suffer.

Not sure I believe this rumor.

Anyways, iphone 7s will be the normal lame update, but the new "Apple Phone" will have all the good stuff, and be 2g!

Trust me, the new flag ship phone will be ridiculously priced!

Why wouldn't Apple sell iPhone 7s while also releasing the iPhone Anniversary Edition? iPhone 8 would be the year after (as usual). I do agree that every Apple product line is a muddled mess.

Oops..

Apple may introduce a new 5-inch iPhone model that sports a unique vertical dual-camera system that sits alongside the existing 4.7- and 5.5-inch models, according to Japanese blog Mac Okatara. The 5-inch model would act as the medium size in the 2017 lineup.

The report, which comes from a Taiwanese supplier, says that the new models, dubbed the iPhone 7s, would be an updated version of the iPhone 7. The new 5-inch model, however, would rearrange the iPhone 7 Plus' dual camera into a vertical alignment rather than a horizontal one.

Earlier this month, Mac Okatara reported that the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus would retain the aluminum design of the iPhone 7. However, the report said the new phones would come in an all-new red color. Multiple reports have stated that there will be three new iPhone models in 2017, including updated 4.7- and 5.5-inch models with LCD screens and a premium model with an OLED display and glass casing.

The new report corroborates an earlier Nikkei report that said a new 5-inch iPhone would arrive in 2017. However, Nikkei reports that the three iPhone models in 2017 will have new glass-backed designs. In November, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said it's likely the 2017 iPhones will switch to new glass casings to support wireless charging.

While Mac Okatara was the first to report that Apple would replace the headphone jack in the iPhone 7 and debut a new gloss black color, its track record is not perfect. In November, it reported the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus would get a new "Jet White" color that has not yet materialized.

5 inch with the new CPU + GPU & double camera AKA iPhone 7S
5.8 inch=5.5+ 0.3inch with new glass back, oled and wireless charging AKA iPhone8

Vertical camera why?
1. Portrait = vertical
2. Landscape = horizontal

Tim Cook ran out of Steve Jobs' ideas a long time ago, and now just releases different sized devices. He realised that the huge iPad Pro was not a big seller, so with the iPhone his big idea is to create a new size between medium and large. Such creativity!

In 3 years, we will have the iPhone in half inch increments from 3.5 to 5.5. Five different sizes from Pipeline Tim.
