I didnt want to start a whole new thread for a dumb qquestion like this so yea...also, is there a listing of at how many posts it takes to move to the next name/rank?

At least Looprumors humbly apologized and admitted their rush to judgement.:(

After all, it's not their fault they were mislead, but I think this incident will be a valuable lesson for them....to be more like MacRumors!!!:D

[Big wet smoocher on Arn's behind to get him to let me use an avatar with my sub-twenty post count]

Well....

at least Apple knows what kind of change would induce the MOST excitement among us

and let's not be too hard on LoopRumors....so far, I like their coverage......especially their MacEsque webpage

besides - you can never have enough Macintosh rumor sites!

Well, it is 7:15 am and there is no word out (I don't think) that this is real. So I am just assuming that it is a fake.

I disagree with this... and not just because I run a rumor site. :)

(and this is not regarding looprumors specifically)

Too many rumor sites end up causing the line between speculation and true rumors to blur... as there is only so many "true" rumors.

Frequently speculation is passed off as rumors... and ends up causing far too many guesses floating around.

fake. all fake. besides, im still sticking with the fact that IBM will make apple's chips:D they will. you'll see:)

C'mon, guys. There's nothing crazy or devious going on here. The photo in question is one from a setup session at Intel's International Sales and Marketing Conference held in Las Vegas last week. That really was the Apple logo on the center stage screen.

Steve Jobs was a keynote speaker for one of the evening sessions. Andy Grove invited Mr. Jobs to speak to the Intel sales force about innovation in the PC industry. Steve also demoed video and DVD creation on a Mac and showed some clips from an upcoming Pixar film. After this, Andy joined Steve on stage for an informal chat about their longtime friendship and their respective opinions on the industry past, present, and future.

I know this because I was there with about 4000 other Intel employees. When Steve Jobs stepped onstage we greeted him with a standing ovation.

It was a great keynote speech and the highlight of the week. You don't often get to see two history makers on the same stage and I feel lucky to have been there.

Well, now I've seen everything...

Steve Jobs is there to introduce the iWalk featuring Intel's latest chips with military-grade DRM and a special OS X Lite version that also incorporates Microsoft's "Phone Home" software to automatically search for and bill you for media on your computer. Dell is also going to sell it through their online store and it will integrate with the future Bluetooth video iPod. Bill Gates and Michael Dell were there to congratulate Apple on their wise decisions.

Well, now I've seen everything.... :D

Thanks a bunch, dricci, I was lost but now I am found...was blind but now I see that this is the real deal. Yes, the truth is out there... but not in photoshop land, I'm afraid. :D

By the way, where can I get one of those "Phone Home" things? :D

P.S. Anyone know where I can get a Quicktime .mov of the original 1984 commercial? Thanks!

I submitted the original photo to looprumors.com

Hello

I am the one who originally submitted the photo which is seen on the front page of looprumors.com. It is not a fake, and Steve Jobs WAS there. I sat in the audience.

I cannot tell you more than that to protect my identity.

Jobs came on stage and talked to the Intel Sales & Marketing group for 90 minutes. I have the whole thing on DV. He did not discuss ANYTHING regarding Macs on Intel chips, but there were hints in that direction.

Grove was clearly in favor of such a switch. He would just LOVE to have Apple as a client.

While on stage, Jobs wowed the crowd with the new Powerbooks (they just LOVED the backlit keyboard), and he also demoed iDVD. After that, we got a screening of several scenes from Finding Nemo. He also spoke of how Microsoft is out for blood, and they will not stop - even for a behemoth like Intel. VERY sobering words. He is a great speaker.

After that, an editor for Fortune magazine (or was it Money magazine, I forget), came out and interviewed Jobs and Grove - who have apparently been friends for YEARS. They talked about everything from industry innovation issues to digital rights management. It was an enlightening talk. I was lucky to witness it.

I'll send LoopRumors more photos later today to show that the original was not a fake. I can also take some screengrabs from the video showing Jobs, Grove and the interviewer (who's name escapes me).

One last thing. . .

After the show, I was talking to some "intel top brass" (I can't devulge names - I'd be fired!!) backstage, and I was hinted to that Intel is working very hard to develop a relationship with Apple and that Apple Macs running on Intel hardware is a virtual gurantee. I can't personally gurantee anything, but that's what I heard.

Wow, i missed all the action... let's see it wacko_hack... you got proof?
Its quite impressive that you'd be willing to blow every bit of credibility you have on some photoshopped image. Alas, is this a dead thread or what?

The image is real...

I'm not posting 'to debate' if Jobs was really at Intel's Conference or not. I don't really care, although, 4.0GHz H/T P4 CPU's for Mac would be nice. :)

I'm only posting to say, that image is real. I do graphics and video editing for a living - and for countless years now. See the two images I'm posting, from my Photoshop program?

The first one is simply brightened and contrast adjusted to expose the dark areas. AND, to give you a view of the people's shapes which were shrouded in darkness within the original. Second image is an extremely exploded and color corrected view of the L/S corner of the Mac Logo we all saw on stage. It's blown up by 1600%. I then selectively removed colors, so you may now see the perfect symmetry of the logo's edge. You cannot create that digitally, no matter how 'good' you are. I do believe the banners we see on the (L/S - R/S) stage, were suspended by cables. That's why they look awkward at a distance. They are, apparently, NOT fastened to the walls...

If this was a phony, believe me, I can see that at 1600% zoom. At that level, the pixels are perfect squares. I've seen every fake imaginable but trust me, they're always easy to spot if you know what you're looking at! Especially so, when you simply blow them up and have an eye for it. For instance, do my job for 20 years... The so called 'expert' guys, who posted here - "I can do the same thing in my sleep." Well, sadly, they probably cannot even open Photo Shop, let alone make a perfect fake.

It's real. I took the damned photo!!!

I took the photo with a Nikon coolpix 990. I was taking pictures of the Intel top brass as they gave their individual keynotes for use later in a video segment. Someone rushed into the video lab and said "dude, there's an Apple logo on the screen!!!" so I ran out and took a few pics.

The image is a cropped version of the original.

the screens were hanging from cables. The middle "circle" screen was also hanging from cables, and they took it down and replaced it with another rectangular screen on other days. They had three HUGE DLP projectors feeding them from across the auditorium.

This was in the MGM Grand arena. It's not gigantic, but many major acts have played there, as well as many sporting events. It's a pretty big place.

Let me be the first to ask formally: WTF IS GOING ON?
This would be a slap in the face to IBM if pixar goes to intel.. if Jobs is there pushing the power of intel.. i mean, WTF? We've all been dreaming about the power of 970... what happens if the g5 is a p5?

Pixar has already gone to Intel.

Pixar's entire rendering lab is running Intel hardware. Jobs announced it at the conference with Intel.
