Well, I'm not a Photoshop expert, but this corner of the Apple logo circle looks mighty suspicious to me:

Reasons this photo is likely a fake:

- The big Apple logo is off-center in the circle. It's high and to the right. It's also not in the correct perspective. The camera is tilted slightly counterclockwise, and is not looking at the logo directly, yet the Apple logo is dead on, as if it had been copy-pasted and the doctorer of this photo forgot to rotate and skew it.

- If this is an Intel conference, why does the Apple logo take center stage and why is the Intel logo small and less noticeable?

- What the hell does Apple have to do with Intel with the socks-rocking 970 less than a year away?!?

- History has shown that when big unwanted information releases like this are made, Apple Legal is on them like flies on rotten crap, and they get pulled immediately. This is still online.

- Why did the anonymous e-mailer reveal himself? That's suicide. No sane person would do that.

I find this thought scary...

Steve Jobs face live via satellite on the big round display! That would freak me out!

dude the hanging screens are real

there is a shadow on the non-lit valence behind the circle one on the wall... If something's fake it's the images themselves. It's very good but i call fake... i work for a trade show company and the screens that are being projected onto are called lumin-oz, what's bothering me is that they are normaly projected onto from the back, and the viewer sees it through the front, so that there is no bleed of the image onto the wall behind it, and it is tough to have such perfect edges on the screens... the hangings are real, the images, i'm not so sure, but it is possible... does look like there is some fade toward the edge of the screen... I'm a graphics guys who works with AV guys and they are not usually this good with Photoshop!!

I could go either way... fake

It is definitely fake, if you look closely, you can see that the circle is pixilated and smudged!!!

Besides, I want AMD and Apple not Intel!! ;) :p

yeah, that edge looked almost methodical, but i thought it might be the way the camera inputs the data into its jpg algorithm. i really don't know though.

I was originally going to say real, but upon further examination, I'm going towards fake. Zooming in on the Apple Logo, or rather, both logos, there seems to be a bit of distortion, like a quickly applied smudge-type tool around the edges of both. Further proof - the distortion is uneven. The Apple logos are the only instance where a white object, against any background seem to have a distortion around them.

It's probably best not to nit pick about the photo. As people said earlier, ones that have been called fake before turned out to be genuine. However I can't help myself... ;)

I own a digital camera and I often find artifacts around edges (down to the jpeg compression) and ghosting/fuzzyness around edges.

The 3 hanging boards do look in the right perspective. They are hanging straight (compare them to the pillars) Any slight un-eveness could be caused by the strings not being adjusted correctly on either side. Also cameras (especially cheap and digital ones) can distort perspective slightly.

Looking at the large image, the strings do not appear to continue down underneath the left board. It looks like underneath is a shadow. The reason it doesn't match the shadow above the board is unknown, but is consitant because the shadows to the right of the pillar do not run parrallel either (sorry if that doesn't compute easily its pretty late here heh)

The only real 'evidence' I can see suggesting this is a fake is the fact that the circle containing the Apple logo matches the circle in the left test card. But this could easily be co-incidence or designed to match. The gradiant on the apple board looks to me to be at a different angle to the gradiant on the test board and again fits the perspective well.

If this is genuine it doesn't mean that Marklar is coming or Apple will start using Pentium CPU's, it just means someone from Apple will likely have been talking (we're lead to believe Steve Jobs) what about - we don't know.

If its fake then congratulations to the artist. It's been fun :)

looprumors.com haven taken off the e-mail, pic, and everything else to with this from thier site... at least I dont see it anymore. they must of relized some how it was a fake

wow, thanks man, now lets get some good ports of my favorite games with eax technology and this will be a big step up in the apple world. thanks for the news. now apple will have to include more drive bays unless they are just coding strictly for the soundcard. personally i like having the remote control for my pc.

I concurr, sirs.

No references left on Looprumors whatsoever.

New site trying to break a major headline first, I guess.

Just trying to gain the respect that Arn and Macrumors recieved for being the first and only site to confirm, at least with almost certainty, the introduction of 12" & 17" PowerBooks.:)

BTW, a belated "Good Call" on that one Arn as I was not yet a registered Macrumors member.

an hour ago we were talking about the power of apple legal.....looprumors takes down this content...not that i want to support the fact that i think its fake but perhaps this is a sign that its legit because it was taken down so quickly? anyone with me

Here's the real photo. Steve Jobs is there to introduce the iWalk featuring Intel's latest chips with military-grade DRM and a special OS X Lite version that also incorporates Microsoft's "Phone Home" software to automatically search for and bill you for media on your computer. Dell is also going to sell it through their online store and it will integrate with the future Bluetooth video iPod. Bill Gates and Michael Dell were there to congratulate Apple on their wise decisions.

Interesting Kwyjibo-

It's the ol' Glass Half Full, Half Empty" perspective.

Optimist View-
There could be something to this because of possible Apple Legal intervention...

Pessimist View-
Those dirty rotten bastards got fooled and now are trying to cover their tracks...

Oh well, we'll know something either way in awhile, if not tomorrow.

If I were LoopRumors I would have done as arn does and update with a comment explaining that they had been hoaxed. Just dropping it doesn't really make sense.

lol, good comic relief dricci, macquest, and iJon. Nice picture, got a good laugh out of it. hehe

About apple legal pulling the story. No. Period. End of story. I'm not even gonna go into the reasons why it isn't true, we will just settle at "no it is not true."

:D

Quick to dismiss!

Sheesh you guys are very quick at dismissing this. Ok the photo has been up for some debate and looprumors has pulled the story (legal matters or not - who knows) but what do we really know? diddly squat.

Why is 'reputation' so important with rumor sites? I think alot of us just read all of them and take it all with a pinch of salt. The people running them post what info they get. So what if your prediction was wrong and your informant took you for a ride. A simple message on the home page saying "Sorry folks looks like we got some bad info" would do, I wouldn't think any less of them.

We can't know for sure either way at the moment and may never find out. Unless we do get some new info can't we leave this as a "What on earth was that all about?" story?

Apple Legal can't really make people take down a picture like that. It's just a photo... doesn't contain "apple intellectual property"
