Will it bend, does it bend. bend bend bend.. is that all anyone jokes about, its not like we haven't heard it. get some original material or don't speak at all. every year we hear about a problem that really isn't a problem all over media and then people online make these comments they think are funny despite it being obvious about 20 people before you in this forum already said it. ok done rant, this iPad will be over $700 starting price and if it is true it will be for businesses, professionals mostly.. average people will get the regular size or mini. It would actually be nice if they made it more like a laptop. maybe that is the plan to run some OS X or merging os x and iOS next year.

Isn't the first question that should be answered / asked is... What can this do, that laptops or an iPad Air can't already do?

A MacBook Air can do everything, and an iPad Air ALREADY does many things better, for many people, than a laptop. It's faster, easier, and more trouble-free than a conventional computer. Not for every person's uses, but for many people.

Some portion of those people would want a bigger screen than the iPad Air, which would obviously be more productive and more visible in the same ways as choosing a larger laptop might be right for some people. Most won't choose over 10", I'm sure, but eventually diversification of iPad sizes makes sense. (Still feels too soon to me, and I take the rumors with salt, but who knows.)

I'd love a giant one for art, for music, for video editing, for showing photos, for email, for games, and especially for Numbers. But the current Air is the better compromise for me. To each their own. Balance screen size with portability with typing with your app needs with your budget, and choose.

Also remember we've seen evidence of split-screen multitasking coming to new iPads. Useful at any size, and a nice Surface feature for power users. Even nicer at 13"!

That A8x should have made its appearance in my 6 Plus or at least they should have clocked it faster (slower than 6, makes no sense) poor performance and graphics due to the higher resolution are starting to take a toll

It’s not the resolution per se, the A7 easily handles more resolution on the iPad. If was just a straight issue with pushing pixels, the A8 with a 50% faster GPU (and 25% better CPU I believe[?]) could handle ~2.1M pixels (vs. the iPad with ~3.1M).

The problem is this scaling thing they’re doing. They’re using an exact 3X retina resolution 2208x1242 “internally”, then scaling that to the physical display size of 1920x1080.

*That* I believe is where the performance issue is, and I’m not convinced this can’t be optimized via software to provide a perfectly smooth experience (and just tossing more CPU at the problem isn’t a guaranteed fix either).

Personally, I found this a peculiar design decision - I get the larger display downsides, but I believe they would’ve been mostly offset, but this adds an extra layer of complexity to display performance.

"Apple's iPad Air 2 will feature 2 GB of RAM."

I don’t care anymore. History tells us that it won’t happen.

And unless Apple releases a fix for the many issues I’ve encountered in iOS I’m jumping back to Android. From running into many incompatible apps (tired of downloading apps that are hit or miss), crappy text prediction on the stock keyboard, third party keyboard issues, crappy notifications, updategate, icloudgate and bendgate I’m really getting fed up.
I did not sign up to become a beta tester for Apple.

iPad Pro to follow the MacBook line or iPad Plus to follow the iPhone line?
iPad Plus. It was mistranslated as iPad Math. The Chinese for "Pro" is nothing like the Chinese for "Math". This is well known, MR is just being obtuse and not calling it what it is.

Not that many people will want such a large iPad.................sells ten million in a week!

But will it B(l)ent?

But does it bend?

But the real question is: will it bend?

I can only imagine the amount of bending this could receive. Hopefully Apple learns from the iPhone fiasco and uses a better alloy...

Does it bend?

Yeah but will it bend if I try to cram it into my pocket?

Not good... A larger iPad will be more bendable :/

I know this is really funny, but here's a fact: Apple UK hasn't received a single complaint from anyone with a bent iPhone 6. None. Zero.

Dude its not slower then the 6 its on par or actually even faster, slight GUI lag that you may experience will be solved and can be solved very easily, the device just launched .

The GX6450 in the 6 Plus and 6 are easily superior to the Adreno 330 found in the S5/M8, etc.

GX6450 is beyond capable of running at 1080p

It has happened at least one time, and with Apple even differentiating the experience on different sized devices, it looks like they’re OK with specific unique models.

I’m in for $5 on it having 2GB :D

Maybe the reason why the 6 plus didn't get 2 gigz of ramz is so that we would buy the iPad air 2 with its 2 gigz of ramz.

Three words....Microsoft Surface Pro 3...if it cant pony up to this, its just another IPad, but with a bigger screen.

The Surface Pro is a top heavy laptop. I've seen two talks given using this thing. They looked clumsy. Microsoft took a really great laptop solution and and made it awkward. Of the few I have seen, all use the extra blue keyboard. How can this be a better solution compare to laptop?

If this larger iPad is true, it will not be use in the way that Microsoft and you think it will. It will likely be for graphic artist, musician and other content creators. Editing personal video/photo will be a lot easier than smaller iPad devices. Personally, I will wait a bit longer to see if these rumors pan out.

From the top of my head :

• Mac mini redesign with PCIe-SSD and DisplayPort 1.3
• Apple TV with App Store and Game Controller
• 13-inch MacBook Pro with Quad-Core CPU
• 12-inch & 14-inch fanless MacBook Air with Retina Display
• 30-inch iMac 4K Display
• 50-inch iMac 5K Display
• iPod Touch upgrade to iPhone 6 technology

But if you give me an iPad mini 3 with TouchID, ApplePay, TrueTone Flash and the ability to make regular phone calls over cellular, I'll settle with that.

You had me until 50" iMac, lol. That's just ridiculous. Also the iPod Touch can't compete on price with the newest tech, but it should be at least a generation behind using an A7 or something, even if it's an underclocked A7. Also, the mother of all phablets? That's a bit much, lol, and I'm a Plus user. But everything else looks good. I know many people who would pick up that stuff. I'd love a more advanced Apple TV, especially if there was a more expensive, beefier version for gaming. My wife would be all over that retina MBA and I'd be all over that 30" 4K iMac! For my own sake, I hope they don't release them all at once!

I'm trying to figure out what the target market of this rumored 12.9 device would be. I doubt it would be targeted towards general consumers.

I was just going to ask the same question. Will it be some sort of laptop convertible?

I think the Air could stand to be a little bigger, but I don't get the point of this thing. If Apple is targeting designers, they will have to beat Wacom at their own game, and I don't see that happening.

BTW, has the iPad ever had more ram than the equivalent iPhone? Remember, the OG iPad had a whopping 256MB ram, which is half as much as the iPhone 4 using the same A4 chip. :apple: doesn't give a **** about RAM.

I'm not sure about who is trying what with laptop PC's these days. I just bought my wife a new Lenovo convertible laptop at Best Buy for $600. Excellent system, Solid State drive, flip over top converts it into a full tablet, touch screen of course, etc. and it's really not that much bigger than my iPad air with it's Logitech keyboard. Loads more power and capability though. I only use the iPad because of my job and even there, it's still really only for presentations and email and web use.

I understand the using an A series chip will exclude OSX from the iPad Pro. But what if Apple is really just swinging for the fences here - launch ARM based OS 11 with the iPad Pro and announce that it will move all it's computers from the MacBook Air to the MacPro to ARM starting next year? High risk, high reward. Apple is known for such swings...
