Holly camera bump Batman!

Design team: hey Tim, sir, Mr Cook sir. The new camera unit is a bit thicker than before. We could probably redesign the shell.
Tim Cook: that costs too much money, just put another bump on it
Design team: but Sir, that will put a camera bump on top of camera bump on top of camera bump

I don’t understand all the hatred for the lens bumps? Most cases now have a ridge around the lenses to protect them, and if you want better pics the sensor and optics need space. I personally don’t care how big it is, the higher the better imo, plus, when I first got my 14 pro max I didn’t have a case, and the camera bump saved the phone a few times from slipping out of my hands!

Huawei and Samsung can design phones with large camera sensors without resorting to ridiculous bumps like that. It’s all about design, and seems like Apple doesn’t pay too much attention to that anymore.

It would be downgrade because I would have to keep multiple types of cables. Not hard to understand, right?

Also I reported your post for off topic as you're clearly not following discussion rules with your personal attack.
This has been discussed so many times. People who only have USB-C would have a whole heap of cables. Sure, is it possible to get away with 1? Maybe (doubtful), but we’re talking about living in the real world. And let’s not get started on dongles. I went overseas for 6 weeks with 5 cables and only one was lightning.

Let’s see….
iPad USB C, Headphones USB C , MacBook USB C, Power-bank (stupid Micro USB rubbish), iPhone Lightning
That, my friend is reality.

Off topic? USB C is in the title and you brought it up! As far as being a personal attack; No. Ridiculous, just because you don’t agree with me, doesn’t mean I am attacking you. I was just pointing out that the benefit for a phone going USB C is marginal. Otherwise Apple would have done it years ago. 🤦🏻‍♂️

You based that entire dialog on a rumour? We have no idea what Apple are going to do with the camera.

I think the iPhones from the 11-14 look pretty nice tbh.

I have too. They are absolutely not.
People whining about the look of a candy bar phone. “Needs it to fold” to be the latest and greatest. It’s just 2 candy bars joined together.

The (original) Motorola RAZR was cool. The fold/flip are a solution to a problem no one had.

How can people want a folding phone and then complain about a camera bump? Oh, it could be apple doing it. That’s the reason right there.

We’re at the point there will be a protrusion even with a case.
Exactly. Cases that can protect those lenses would have to be thicker, resulting an even bulkier phone. If that's the goal, might as well make the phone thicker to begin with (and add more battery at the same time).

It's getting silly, especially when other OEMs like Huawei, Sony, Samsung, etc can design theirs so they don't have to have ridiculous bumps like that. It's as if Apple's design team is on hiatus, so the interns left behind can only add bumps.

Even Google has a better design idea this time around, creating the visor to mask the need for camera bump.

Sorry but the camera bump is out of control. It’s very prominent on my 14 pro, I can’t imagine it being any bigger than it is without looking even more absurd. If they can’t work out the periscope they should just stick with the current camera configuration for the 15.
Camera on par with competitors is the only way they’re getting my $$$

I am happy with my 2020 SE.

But a usb-c connection would be really nice, so I finally can go all in with USB-C and not carry two standard adapters for everything.

So I guess an iPhone 7 all over again? Maintaining the current form factor with subtle tweaks here and there and a focus on camera improvements. It feels like we’re on a 4-year track in terms of design changes.

Next year we’re probably gonna have an 8/X event — an iterative update with top-of-the-line phone that defines the next generation’s design language.
