Honestly the ipad doesn't need state of the art chips blowing every competitor's tablet out of the water from a performance perspective. It's nice but unnecessary. Put pro chips in pro products and I'll be happy.

Viewing MacRumors.com. Honestly I don't know if it's CPU or RAM cause it's not like I can upgrade just one or the other. But I used to be able to view this site fluidly and flawlessly on my Air 1. Now it's so painfully slow and prone to crashing I only use my phone (SE) or laptop to view it. And no, I assure you this isn't an internet speed issue.

To be fair, if it's not the fault of macrumors.com, then my example is iOS 10's Safari itself.

I doubt it's CPU and to be honest, RAM might cause some issues if it's not handled right, like if macrumors was running some JS that was bad. I mean it's not like that can happen ;)

Maybe Apple should just buy TSMC. I mean, they have more money than most countries. Just buy TSMC and use them for their own chip production exclusively.

Except when we're using it for photo editing, word processing, coding (without compilers unfortunately), note taking, music editing, drawing, watching movies, etc.

I'm a software engineer and an amateur photographer I'd do neither of this things in my iPad maybe photos on my pro but if I bought a pro last year I certainly wouldn't be upgrading it.

It's hard enough to type on a forum let alone a word document.

Lastly movies run fine on my iPad 2 and my minis

Tim: Hey Phil, what's wrong with TSMC Chip yields ?
Phil: Nothing that I know. Except those Far Eastern guys: they're a little slow and never keep promises.
But that's their culture. Taiwanese, Koreans, Thai. Diversity, you know ?
Tim: Euhh, that's right. But will we meet our deadlines ?
Phil: Tim, welcome in this company. There are no deadlines anymore.
Tim: Since when is that ?
Phil: Well, since nobody understood when the Airpods would come. Those disappeared before ever appearing. We thought they didn't exist.
Tim: Well they DID exist, but I couldn't say so. It was top secret.
Phil: Except they were announced 2 months ago, for the beginning of december.
But we waited and waited. I kept asking everyone, every Chinese employee, including you, when these Airpods would arrive. Nobody could tell me. Neither yourself. It was the best kept secret in Cupertino.
And then, suddenly, they pop up. Out of the Blue, at a wednesday afternoon something.
Tim: You junior product managers just don't have a clue what I have been through to get those buds to market in time. I had to see everybody 5 times a day, including Donald Trump.
Phil: Well, fine, congrats. So did you meet the deadline ?
Tim: There was no deadline, let alone that I could ever fail.
Phil: Quite rightly so. And so, why should old knarfs like us get anxious or go berserk on products that hardly exist.
Tim: Mumph...I wouldn't know.
Phil: However, there is one deadline that I WILL meet: I am off for Christmas dinner now. Have a great Christmas. And try to relax.
Tim: Problem solved, happy Christmas

You're machine does not get slower it just isn't as fasted the new processors. Give me an example of an application that's grown to the point of needing a faster processor?
I'll name the one you should have been able to think of yourself. iOS.

Is there a reason you keep posting this type of comment all over the forums?

I'm sorry but TL;DR

does anyone really need a "faster" iPad? It's an internet reading device...

No one needs a faster iPad but I bet many aren't going to want to buy a 1 year iPad for same price as it was on release day. Apple only discounts stuff when a new version is released.

I hear it also plays games, but maybe that's just a rumor.

Except Steve Jobs predicted that the iPad would replace the traditional computer.

To be fair, he didn't say how long. He could have been talking about an iPad of the future that comes with a keyboard -- or uses nano machines you inhale to allow you to telepathically communicate with it like that spoof "PS9" ad Sony did.

Alternate Snark response: Maybe one Trump finishes ruining our education system, we wont have anyone who does any computer science work that requires a real PC.

I really would be fine with Apple going to a year and a half or even two year refresh cycle, for both software AND hardware...everyone expects them to deliver something brand spanking new every year but fail to realize it is a marathon and not a sprint... It is clear that Apple's QC has been struggling lately on both fronts, and when you still have updates brick or soft-brick devices (Apple Watch 3.1.1 and iPhone SE/iOS 10, respectively) after Public Betas, you know something is very wrong.

Rumors, rumors......... .
[doublepost=1482521571][/doublepost]I bet that in some weeks 'new rumors will say that the production of the A10X is going fine ..... saying that it had a delay in the production, but it has been resolved .

Yes... as long he was in charged, not this pile of... I can not say it in here because there are susceptible moderators who does not want face the truth and keep banning me when they read what they do not like to read.

Fear not...Tim says they have great things on a roadmap and in a pipeline. :)

Besides, I think there are other products that need to be updated before the iPad Pro.
What would need to be updated before that? Please tell me good news.;)

I feel like every article these days is something along the lines of "_____ Apple Device Isn't Going to Happen Yet Because Apple Doesn't Have the Resources." WTF?? Seriously, what is going on at Apple these days??

It's not apple's fault that TMSC is having issues manufacturing 10nm processors. It has literally nothing to do with "Apple not having resources."

Meh, this is SOP for the "analysts" / rumor mill. Every product release in recent memory has gone through a similar cycle.

It would be more interesting to me if a company was able to build a product product at similar scale with no issues to overcome. It is a skill Apple has mastered and a competitive advantage.

The iPad could indeed replace a laptop for 95% of casual users if it had a more comprehensive OS.

As it stands, iOS is mainly conceived for content consumption (which is perfect for), but the moment you try to embed a few excel sheets or files into a slide presentation and whatnot, the iPad becomes a painfully limiting device. Not to mention needing a proper file navigation system...

The hardware is perfectly capable of becoming a laptop replacement for most people. The OS is not. In order to truly become a household laptop replacement, the iPad Pro needs iOS Pro.

I use mine to read, study, type, reply, sketch, paint etc. Some of these things I don't do even do on my Mac.

Which household needs excel sheets and slide presentations? I'm really confused.
