As a fan of clean balls, that would be epic!

Haa!! jessica. your posts often crack me up. +1 for matte options on all machines. My iMac is still smokin' fast, but I might put it up on Craigslist if a nice matte screen option becomes available. Like the idea of a new mouse, but I have already invested in a nice Logitech mouse. If it beats that one, I'll be damn surprised—also, please skip the cutesy name.

Don't really care about the chin much. It actually is a good place to pick up the machine from (which I have had to do a LOT since I bought it for some reason). I won't complain if it goes away though. Definitely interested in their notebooks even though I am not in the market right now. I mean, I'd LIKE to be, but I can't swing it. I thought the last refresh of MacBook Pros was pretty solid. Very interested in seeing sweet new iMacs!

I wonder if they might pull something new. Maybe they release a boat load of new Apple hardware on the website and THEN send the invites out at the end of the week to go over them.

Sort of a pre-emptive strike as some have suggested.

What was the reason they dropped out of Macworld?
Something like they get as many people in to the stores window shopping each day or so than a whole macworld crowd.

Making sure they have display models for all the Apple stores ready to be placed before opening. Then have Apple presentation video run in a loop on all the machines. Then drop new stuff on the website.

Could even send press invite to drop in any Apple store and have one of the One to one staff walk them through the product. Get the timing right and the media misses Wednesdays deadline and the story runs Thrusday along side Windows 7.

That gets full world wide media and public coverage, with out anyone having to travel. After all their market is now 45% overseas at set to grow with the dollar weakness.

Mighty Mouse - track ball = happy apple consumer!! (pun intended! lol)

i've had my 1st MM for about a year and (surprisingly) the ball still rolls (somewhat. It may get stuck or it slips sometimes but the screen still scrolls)

after reading several reviews about the mouse, people's MM have officially stopped working after several months so I guess im one of the lucky ones?

I'd say you have good etiquette, don't eat at the computer and have clean fingers. ;)

I've had both of mine (Mighty Mice, that is) for over a year and a half.

Both work fine, and the second one was a floor model mouse at the store so it was good and gunky when I got it.

A little tender loving care in the form of upside-down mouse ball rolling :p got it all ungunky, though that one does tend towards the occasional relapse.

Happy Mightymousing,
Keri

PS Who'd have thought we'd still be cleaning mouseballs after Optical mice came out?

counting to 10 and a new quad core/bluray discussion will start

one... two.. three...

Worth a Positive rating on "Magic Mouse" alone... once upon a time I'd have thought it was the dorkiest name ever. But that was before they started using "Mighty Mouse"

If it gives me pinch-zooming (and other gestures) on my desktop, as I've gotten spoiled by on my laptop, I'll be tempted to get a new mouse.

Is it common for apple not to have an event from something such has this?

Not common. Apple always surprised us with an update on Tuesdays before Thanksgiving. New MacPros, MacBooks and MacBooks Pros always appeared before the holiday season.

Always happy to entertain and remember tip your waiters and waitresses. :D

The "chin" has a purpose and if they remove it the. They have to got thicker, which I don't see happening.

I don't know who is buying the white macbooks tbh. It seems the market is slipping for them. Even schools (ie: Duke) has replaced their old macs with 13" unibodies and iMacs in the office.

I got one in April, before the most recent bump to 2.13 ghz. My GF is about to buy one, as is someone I work with, both based on them seeing mine. Actually my GF wanted one before based on my 2006 Blackbook, but as it was closer to 1400 than 850 what the Whitebook refurbs are going for now, you do the math. She hates her Acer she got less than 2 years ago. She was really suprised when I got the Whitebook for 799 after rebate, same with the friend from work "Really? I thought Mac's were like 2 thousand dollars"

I'd love to see the Blackbook come back, or even as others have speculated iPod like colors. Really though for a portable machine that does not have to do intense photo editing my MacBook is awesome. Between Pages, Numbers and Shop 'n Cook Pro, it does everything I need it to do for my job, and it is affordable, and I do not have to jack with Windows.

So in other words Apple, do not get rid of the Macbook!

You mean not UNcommon :)

Sometimes Apple schedules a big event in advance, sometimes not.

If it was a while new CPU line (like the iPhone) then a media event would be expected. Otherwise--it could go either way.

I'm betting, from past experience, that all or most of the rumored products are real, with rumors from real sources... BUT that not ALL of them are coming tomorrow. Some will wait longer even though they are coming in the end.

9 to 5 reporting possible new Airports tomorrow....

I know, not as exciting as anything else, but what if that's all there is?;)

Can't help it, it reminds me too much this Stainless Steel Soap design :D

That is not soap, that is an over priced garlic and onion scent remover. Any stainless will remove the smell from one's hands, even the sink in one's kitchen.

Installing Windows 7 for geeks only? Come on!

It won't make a difference. Nobody is going to run out and buy Windows 7 except geeks.

You cannot be serious.
However well Apple is doing, the number of expected Windows 7 sales in the near future is shocking. I accept that many people buy a new MS OS with new hardware (unless they get a 'new' one by downgrading from Vista), but the corporate market on its own is so huge that it would embarrass your statement about geeks. For larger companies, 7 will be a major upgrade. Or in the public sector. There, they install new OSs by the millions. Probably more than what Snow Leopard will ever sell.

Also, I wouldn't patronize the majority as to say that only geeks would be able to install a new OS. People can, you know, make copies and backups of their photos and important files before do a clean install. Ironically, Intel Macs, BootCamp and the other usual suspects opened a whole new market for Windows - the Mac people who might want or have to have a bit of both worlds.

My final point is that under the Vista period and during the iPhone madness, Apple could pretty much do whatever it wanted and it still gained market share. A new, more stable MS OS will make that more difficult in the future. Unless 7 turns out to be a total bitch, Apple will have to come up with something big again.
