Oh yes, Windows 7 is indeed going to sell like crazy.
Mostly to Vista Users! :D

Companies won't touch it for quite a while. They usually prefer to stand back and watch what happens to the early adopters.

Even if Seven ends up being THE definitive OS of the century (unlikely) MS has lost a lot of momentum with Vista. Momentum that Apple was happy to pick up and run with.

Thank you for Vista, Mr. Gates. That drove me to Apple which was a good thing.

Have Fun,
Keri

I'm in the market for a new laptop, and I've got my fingers crossed to see what might be in store for the MacBook.

I would love to get a MBP - but in my family, laptops do not seem to live long. Lots of accidental breakages. If AppleCare would cover accidental damage (or offer a plan for one) I would feel a lot more comfortable buying a higher end machine... For now it looks like it might be a MacBook or, *gasp* - maybe an HP...

There will be no new hardware tomorrow. Usually they make an event just one week after the result.

So if there is some new product, it will be in an event next week.

Tomorrow it's impossible, or maybe it's just a small update of something but not a redesign iMac.

What about Apple TV?

I'm trying to understand why everyone is saying it is so impossible when two of the leading Apple Insider's who tend to know quite a bit about the inner-workings of Apple have both predicted it. I mean Gruber has been spot on with so many different predictions it is hard to just refute what he says as impossible. As stated earlier either new Macs are coming out tomorrow or one of the leading Apple Insider's on the Net is discredited in a way I don't believe has happened before.

I just got back from london drugs. I noticed they had not airport extreme routers left, so i asked him when they are getting more. I mentioned to him that apple is supposedly releasing new stuff tomorrow so maybe they are releasing a new airport extreme.

He checked the stock and said there are no new airport extreme's on order, which probably means there is a new one coming out.

Is it common for apple not to have an event from something such has this?
My thoughts exactly, I would say no. Look at the event they had last fall for the new laptop designs, a huge event with Jobs there. If the changes to the iMac are true, it seems like they would do something. The other wildcard here is that Windows 7 is being launched on Thursday and word is that Apple is planning some ads. They should because Microsoft came out with it's dishonest laptop shopper ads right when Apple released the new models last fall. The question is, however if Apple is going to respond, do they do it after Windows' big day or just before? We will see...

You must be new. :) There have been hardware updates without events.

Thank you.

I looked over their site, and now will need to do some research to see how their warranty program might work on Apple products. I wonder if they try/can fix it themselves - or send it in directly to Apple..

Thanks again, it may be a solution for us!

small update yes but never a redesign product.;)

MacBook released with no event and it was a totally new product.

Here's my prediction:

  • Thinner iMac, quad core on the high end, no Blu-ray
  • Speed bumped Mac Mini
  • Redesigned MacBook
  • New Mouse
  • New keyboard with trackpad

I have my credit card ready for the new mouse and desktop device. My mighty mouse is getting dirty again, and I don't want to have to deal with that hassle anymore.

Because major update is alway's presented in an event. And the event is alway's anounce at least one week before. It's the time needed to make appointment to all the audiance present in the room of the event. You can't invite people with only few hour of delay.

Small update is possible without an event, like speed bump, storage increase, but never a major redesign update like the rumors state, especially for the iMac.

So you read it from me first. IF there is a major update, I mean redesign, we will know about an event this week for next week. That's it. Period.

hmm not really, the same white plastic than the iBook, just the size of the screen change and the intel chip instead of PPC. not an overhaul redesign with new feature
ho yes maybe a new keyboard, but not really a new design for the rest

Not true. The MacBook was by all accounts a major release and there was no event whatsoever.

I forgot about that.

Thats okay, Im sure no 50%+ of the world hasn't even heard of New Zealand outside Flight Of The Conchords.

Clarkdale is going to fall in from $87 to $284. I have no idea why anyone would get the faster Clarkdale over a Lynnfield though.

You might want to revise that sentence. It doesn't make a lot of sense.

Prices in New Zealand dont really, drop. Even if they drop in other countries. Companies here wont compete directly because it will cut into their profits.

They aren't going to do these big redesigns without a press conference. No press conference scheduled so none of this happening.

Slight refresh 2 weeks from tomorrow.
