honestly I like the old safari better.
too radical of a change for me with the new tab situation.

Microsoft edge browser is now much better than safari in its current form.

it's days like these when I wish APPLE would license Intel versions of macOS to Dell, Lenovo and others so we can have broader Hardware choices.

The video isn't selling it for me. :)

The M1 is just the beginning and it's a ”low end” chip in the sense that it's something that suitable for Apple's ”weakest” computer such as the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 13". The GPU performance for such as chip is pretty good, but of course it cannot compete with the dedicated (and more heat generating and power hungry) graphics cards from Nvidia and AMD. But it's pretty certain things will be quite a lot better in the chip (M1X or M2 or whatever it will be called) used for the upcoming 16" laptop.

Complaining of Premiere Pro on M1 when it's running under non-native Apple silicon code also seems unfair. Premiere Pro in native version seems to work pretty well:

Premiere Pro performance on Apple M1 was already impressive when we first released the public Beta last December. As the latest Pfeiffer Report benchmark results show, it has only gotten better. From first launch to final exports, everything is faster — on average 77 percent faster than comparable Intel-based systems — and editing is buttery smooth.

I've been using Safari 15 on Catalina since it was in beta and have never experienced a crash. I'm totally able to load target.com, even on the latest stable version. Anyway, I'm only using Safari as a second browser and Chrome as my main one.

I use Safari 15 on Big Sur (couldnt wait, shame on me): I tried to buy the new Mini with edu discount, but the linkback from the verification provider didn't work. Guess Safari 15 bugs saved me from jelly scrolling. Is it a feature?

The worst Safari bug that has persisted since beta 1 has been the inability for Safari to track the current web page in a tab group. If I’ve loaded a page on one Safari and go to another device and go to a different web page within the same tab group, it’ll often revert to the page that I had up on the other computer instead of updating the first computer with the new web page. It’s improved since beta 1 but it’s still broken. You’d think all Apple has to do is to track a time stamp when each page is loaded and to always use the latest time stamped page in each tab group.

Safari 15 crashes constantly when in Fullscreen-Mode while using another app side-by-side (Big Sur 11.6, iMac 2019)

What is Federighi and his team doing? Eight betas of iOS 15 and its full of bugs, a buggy browser update, I mean come on. He's either grossly incompetent as a leader or is too nice and needs to really enforce some discipline at Apple and the software team, and go out and find some better talent. There was a day when you used Apple because it "just worked." Now we just hope it works.
Couldn't have said it better.

Is it just me or Apple lately has been having a lot of software and hardware issues lately??

I switched to Windows on my 16" MBP from macOS and Windows feels quicker and smoother.

oh and Edge is WAY better than safari.
Maybe if they released a phone every 2 years and software maybe it would be better instead of shipping out iOS 15 then the day after a new drawing board for iOS 16 how they can make it "better" when they should already be makeing the previous one the best they can make it. 😔

Seems to affect M1 more than x64. YouTuber has M1 and can confirm my M1 MacBook Air is affected.
Interesting. My M1 MBA crashed as well (tested on the same MKBHD video).

Luckily all sessions have been restored. Phew..

How do you u explain first party apps having those issues after long beta test?

Is anyone else have an issue where Cmd + L (open location) does not work, at all?

I was about to say I had none of these problems, then I noticed the Catalina thing

Still yikes, you would expect at least someone at Apple is still running Catalina and has YT bookmarked

EDIT: Just realized the YT issue is also on Big Sur
I… guess it doesn’t happen if you already have YouTube as a bookmark..?

Didn't apple use to have standalone download for Safari? That link MR posted, I can't find anywhere on Apple Download public web pages.

Safari, once my go-to browser of choice for the entire time I have used Macs, has, with 15, gone to a complete, unusable mess, particularly on my macs, both M1's and my 2015 MBP running the Monterey beta. Slow, freezes almost constantly, and all in all a very frustrating experience. Why they had to change it is beyond me.

Have switched to Edge, and I must say, it's a much much better experience.

I'm fairly certain Apple devs don't actually use their own products anymore. Not just show-stopping bugs, but persistent significant issues that go unfixed for months or even years at a time.
I feel the same way. This seems like the only reasonable explanation. It is so perplexing otherwise.
