I have never shifted from a Browser that works well for me, Firefox. And after seeing the mosh pit that is Safari 15, it just reinforces my decision to not even give Safari a try.
I've started using Firefox on macOS, but the lack of an ad blocker for it on iOS drives me potty. I forget how borderline unusable so much of the web is without a blocker, so I'm stuck with Safari on iOS until Apple allow other browsers access to content blockers.

I am telling you guys, I am testing Edge and so far is faster and more reliable than Safari, both in my IMac and my IPhone. Not perfect, it does not have zoom setting, but it will be there, surely. Safari is the IE of yore!.

I just saw this article this morning. I am on macOS Big Sur 11.6, on a late 2015, 27" iMac. I upgraded to Safari 15 on day one when it showed up. I tested one of the reported issues , creating YouTube links. I have one YouTube bookmark of my subscriptions page that works just fine, I've used that one for years, and I've set that for my start page. In addition to that, I right clicked on a video in my subscriptions. Selected add to bookmarks, chose where I wanted it and saved it. Went to the bookmark and it worked without problems. On the issue of sites not loading correctly, I've experienced this on and off for years with Safari, so that's why I primarily use Firefox, plus Firefox is cross-platform.

The main feature of Safari I use is the password manager via iCloud Keychain, as well as storing payment methods.
I enjoy the random password generator Safari offers, and then copy and paste the random generated passwords from keychain into my other browsers. I also have Chrome installed for cast support from the desktop, but there again, I generally use that from either the iPhone, or iPad. It's there if I need it though.

Seems to affect M1 more than x64. YouTuber has M1 and can confirm my M1 MacBook Air is affected. I use Chrome so not a showstopper but would be nice to have a functional backup browser.
Edge from MS is quite good in my week of testing (since Safari 15 was released), side to side is a little faster even and does not crashes 10 times per day while zooming in or other bad browsing habits of mine.

I’m running Catalina and i stayed on safari 14 because I didn’t like the changes and seen zero reason to update.

I also wasn’t going to update to iOS 15 because I hate the maps changes and drive for a living. However, I was forced to because I chose to purchase the 13 Pro

apple’s design is starting to really hit a weird point. In the maps app alone on iOS, it’s a weird combination of huge bold fonts and sharp smaller ones. There’s almost no consistency.

it’s pretty much time to stop shipping updates every year. Or at least stop while the entire team is working remote.

Safari 15 is such a mess on the Mac - iOS 15 too - that I’m likely to wait until fall 22 for the next updates.

I’m incredibly disappointed with Apple this time round - Big Sur & iOS 14 were pretty good.

Very very sloppy quality control in both engineering and UX.

And is anyone on security & bug fixing duty there?

Don't like the tabs, but YouTube bookmarks don't crash for me. 2018 15" MB Pro on Big Sur 11.6 (20G165). I have read that this seems to affect more M1 users.

I'm on Safari 15 and Big Sur. I had a LOT of trouble on Indeed.com yesterday. It seemed like the page partially loaded and then wouldn't load further. I made sure content blockers were all turned off, but in the end had to just load it in Brave, which is my backup browser for sites that don't behave in Safari.

Standard Apple these days. Bugs everywhere you look. Too busy worrying about social justice issues and prying into their employees’ personal medical affairs.
Yeah, remember the good old days when nothing Apple made had any bugs? Me neither.

As a side note, if you're spouting anti-vax garbage here, kindly peddle it elsewhere.

I just tried indeed.com on Safari 15, Big Sur, and didn't seem to have any issues. I tried the main page, and a couple of the common searches. It loaded quite fast actually.

Weird, might have been some one-off issue in that case. Thanks!

You're welcome. I did the main page indeed.com, as mentioned, then I clicked on Amazon. I didn't try much beyond that since things seemed to be working.

Like i said in an earlier post, I didn't know there were problems other than people not liking the new layout until I saw this article today. As far as the tabs, I have mine set to separate instead of compact, and they look as safari has always looked.

Luckily i dont have any of the issues listed here except my icloud tabs is not working (can only see them from my ios devices and on the start page of safari 15)

All software has bugs, but it seems they are getting worse in frequency and severity at Apple with every passing iteration. They are struggling, in my opinion, to keep on top of it. You're welcome to disagree but I've been an Apple fan long enough to form an opinion.

So have I. I've been using Macs since the 90s and I can remember some pretty horrific, data-destroying bugs in the past. Also, let's remember that software has become a lot more complex over the years. I'm frankly surprised there aren't more bugs, myself.

I can definitely get behind that. But maybe then they should improve what’s already working instead of doing things like totally breaking iPadOS Safari sidebar in the quest for more features that aren’t really even any good…

Thing that drives me batty is that using MacOS dark mode, the active tab of a private window is the dark tab, while the active tab of a normal window is the bright tab. Since I always work with a mix of private and non-private windows, I can never tell what the active tab is.

I foolishly updated to Safari 15 when I updated Big Sur to 11.6, I just wasn't paying attention. I just want the tabs at the bottom of the screen like in days of old...

On my MacBook - unchecking "Apps on this Mac using iCloud" - Safari - and re-checking fixed all of my tab/reading list syncing issues between Mac OS Safari 15 and iPad OS 15 Safari - just fyi for anyone else having the same problems of reading list/tabs not syncing between devices.

macOS Monterey is set to be released later this year with Safari 15, with key new features including redesigned tabs, grouped tabs, automatic switching of sites from HTTP to more secure HTTPS when available, faster performance, improved security, and more. Apple also released Safari 15 for macOS Big Sur and macOS Catalina last week.

Unfortunately, some customers have experienced a few issues with Safari 15, which we've highlighted in more detail below.

YouTube Bookmarking Issue

On both macOS Big Sur and the macOS Monterey beta, it appears that attempting to bookmark a YouTube page in Safari 15 results in the browser crashing.

The issue was demonstrated with a video shared by YouTube channel Krazy Wabbit. As a temporary workaround, the video notes that users can create a bookmarks folder for YouTube videos and then drag YouTube pages into the folder in the Safari sidebar.

Page Loading Issue on macOS Catalina

On macOS Catalina, some users across the Apple Support Communities, MacRumors Forums, Reddit, and Twitter have reported that some websites fail to load in Safari 15, with affected users receiving an "a problem repeatedly occurred" error message.

Affected users said that disabling JavaScript solves the problem by clicking on Safari in the macOS menu bar > Preferences… > Security and unchecking the Enable JavaScript box, but this is not an ideal solution. Fortunately, it appears that users can permanently address the issue by reinstalling Safari 15 with a package from Apple's servers.

I told you so, last Friday.
