I always use Safari. It’s fast, safe and syncs with all my Apple toys.

I always install:
- 1Blocker to avoid ads
- Vinegar for YouTube PiP and to avoid ads
- Baking Soda to replace custom video players
- Mapper to redirect Google Maps to Apple Maps

If only it had proper Ad blocking that prevented random javascript page opening on clicks. Until then Firefox will remain my browser of choice. Nothing like trying to read news sites, clicking and getting new tabs that make it difficult to actually read your news

Oh, I didn’t know they had that. Thanks!
I use Bitwarden for all my 2FA stuff for websites and then I use Authy for 2FA to log into Bitwarden for an extra layer of security, but just in case Authy isn't functioning properly, I keep a copy of the 2FA code so I don't get locked out of Bitwarden. You can also use a Yubikey for Bitwarden as well, which I'm probably going to do soon.

If only I didn’t encounter a bug – for several years now, on multiple devices – where Safari stops loading addresses typed in the bar, which is resolved immediately if I force-quit the app.
I have never had that experience nor has anyone I know, Sounds like there is something in particular about your setup/software that is causing the conflict.

I primarily use Safari for the integration with my iPhone and iPad, as well as the keeping passwords synced between multiple Apple devices, but there are times it is horridly slow or just locks up on a page, and then I turn to Firefox There are also too many websites out there that just don't work on Safari, so Firefox is my backup and occasionally DuckDuckGo.

Funny to talk about innovation when I have to use Safari technology preview as my default browser just to load content on basic websites like Nike. Additionally, I have to actually download extensions onto my computer just to use them inside my browser…why?
I have no issues loading basic websites like Nike... Could the problem lie elsewhere?

Safari was eventually overshadowed by Google's Chrome, which was released in 2008 and is now the world's most popular web browser across all PCs and Macs. Nevertheless, Apple says Safari remains the world's fastest desktop browser and is 50% faster on average at loading frequently visited websites than Chrome on the Mac.
Why do we say "most popular" when we really should say "most used"??

I have seen this back in the IE 6 days and as a developer then, we hated IE, but it was the mist used… NOT the most popular. Same with Chrome. It's the most used but not sure the majority of people care anymore. I am still surprised when people don't know what browser they are using. They just click on the shortcut on their desktop. (mostly Windows users, but still)

If that were the case, I would expect Edge to be far more popular than it is, as it is the default browser on Windows 11 and is installed by default.

That means that many Windows users have deliberately installed Chrome manually.

lol.....I used Safari when I was new to mac (with a 13" mid-2009 MBP), but once I got my (mid 2011) Mac Mini, I discovered Firefox and never looked back. It's never wavered with regards to extensions/ad blocking and has always been faster IMO than either Safari or Chrome

I actually miss the old IE browser that ran on OS9. Loved how bookmarks were done, and the color theme you could choose based on your mood. I actually booted up and old computer and saw that you can still somewhat see a few websites (of course the vast majority show nothing/crash).

Safari is my go to browser. For work purposes, I had Chrome installed, but I actually just made the switch to Firefox. I've had almost no problems with websites on Safari, so I'll stick with it for the foreseeable future.

As for extensions, I have Adblock and Adguard on Mac; Adguard and Noir on iOS/iPadOS. I look for new extensions on occasion, but what I have makes everything work well enough as is.

Funny that I'm reading this on Arc Browser.
Which no normal user has ever heard of. But that being said Safari’s Achille’s Heel, in my opinion, is that Apple has tied it to macOS in terms of updates. Unless both your hardware and software is kept up to date your version of Safari is likely to be behind the times and you are forced to use a third party browser if you want the latest security and privacy features. Users on the Apple Discussion forums are frequently reporting websites telling the their version of Safari needs to be updated... and they can’t because there is no standalone updater if the user can’t run the next version of macOS.

And when will Safari, or any other browser, be available for Apple TV?

Congrats to Safari. Great browser and great inspiration for us!

Just to note that Orion browser is slightly faster than Safari (~5%) in Speedometer 2.1 on macOS, which can be easily verified.

That was a beautiful icon of Safari. It sucks the redesigned icon from iOS7 has stuck for so long without any refinement like they have done with the rest of iOS.
Definitely agree! Most of the older logos really had a charm and beauty about them.
But over the last decade most marketing/advertising visual language and logo's have been intentionally simplified.
Next we will see companies slowly start making more complex designs again so complete the cycle 😂
