Yawn the galaxy s8 hit 1000mb last year

Wow that’s super cool .
Too bad I don’t use my phone in that way, in fact I don’t know anybody that uses their phone that way.

But real world usage, iPhone X does surprisingly well. About 120Mbps
No case, I was holding it in my hand, no lab or controlled environment.

Samsung is targeting the average joes or janes that have no clue about tech or smartphones.
No, that would be Apple

When the "internet speed" is the best feature you can use to compare with the competitors product you know there is a problem.
There are also fingerprint reader (still preferred by many), a headphone jack (can still pair with bt) and a microSD so you don't have to buy a higher storage option every time. Oh and no notch.

If only O2 could deliver those speeds. I can’t be bothered to go through the hassle of taking out my sim from my iPhone and putting it in my S9 just to see which one is the fastest.

119 is plenty.

Not talking about hardware or software, Samsung does have a point about the Genius bar though. I just went in for a battery replacement on my 6s+ and boy, is that store a diffuse disorganized mess. There were multiple people with the same appointment slot, but with no place to actually line up and wait with multiple distracted Genii just chatting and roaming the shop floor. Customers arriving later would get serviced first just because they happened to run into an open Genius. And then comes waiting at some arbitrary table with shoppers milling all around. I can't understand why they don't have a section in the back with a "service" sign and a queue system. Works for the rest of humanity.

lol, Samsung dosent have a Genius Bar....because their phones are already in the mail for replacement with something like a 27.4% failure rate
Not even close, I am an IT manager and I see far more issues with iPhones than Samsung phones. When an issue occurs with an iPhone, more likely than not it can't be fixed without being at least taken to a Genius bar. When an issue does occur with a Samsung phone, 8 times out of 10 a reboot fixes it, the 9th time a simple setting tweak fixes it and then usually a full reset does the trick about 50% of the remainder. In fact I haven't ever had to have a single Samsung phone replaced or repaired under warranty. I cannot say the same of iPhones and the mix is pretty equal here.

Yes. Some people hate it, some people tolerate it, while many others, like me, have absolutely no problems with it in its travel, general functionality, or indeed durability.

A real sign of a lack of quality and attention to detail is having to recall an entire product line...

Yeah, those silicone condom barriers to lesson failure rate of the much detested virtual keyboard butterfly keys on the Samsung Galaxy9 to make up for the Galaxy8 is really good since Samsung won't replace 2017 & earlier models for free. Oh, wait. That wasn't Samsung. s/

I can stream HD Video off of Netflix or FaceTime with about 10 MB download. I’m currently getting a ping of 15 and 45 MB down right now in downtown Memphis on my X. I really dont care if I get 20, 40, 80 or 500 down. I’ll just be happy to take 20 or better CONSISTENTLY - that’s what matters for me. Just give me a reliable and consistent speed. As others have stated, its all about the network, not really the phone.

Samsung must be the worst company when it comes to advertising.

These ads just want to make wars. To incite tribalism.

Stupid people can't differentiate between real information and ads. They are going to watch this ad, and come at random people with iPhone with "hurr durr, my phone is faster than yours, you are an idiot because you bought an iPhone".

Yup. But Samsung is succeeding in bolstering its own legion of Apple-hating fanboys, exactly because of the FUD from these ads. Yes the ads are stupid, but they cater to people of a certain mentality. And Samsung knows that. And it works to their advantage. Just look at all these Apple-hating trolls that populate MR and it's quite obvious.

Why do people need such fast download speeds? The cost of data is pretty bad in the US, and it seems like the unlimited plans are not truly unlimited. But even if data was cheap, what the heck are you guys downloading that requires those speeds? Video already seems just fine on LTE, as any other download activity I can think of except maybe bittorrenting or running your entire work/home internet off your phone data. Heck even running my entire office or home with mobile data I struggle to think of when I would need such speeds, and it's more of an issue of how much data I can get.

I really wish Apple could have 5G Modem in its 2019 iPhone, pushing all worldwide Network moving to 5G faster.

Apple has switched to intel modems and will never catch up to Qualcomm.

Qualcomm is leading the 5g standard as we speak and is putting all the r&d for it.

You think the next iphone without a Qualcomm modem can stand a chance?
Does that really matter except to tech heads? 5g will let the phone companies charge you overages faster and companies will still downgrade video streams.

What you claim is irrelevant. Maximum theoretical speed doesn't need to be met, Qualcomm modems are simply faster nu matter the situation.
Also carriers have been working hard for years to improve the connection speeds they provide and Samsung phones are always among the first to be targeted(by these improvements) simply because they have the best modems(and well they are more popular than other phone brands).

You seem to completely forget that half of iPhones have Qualcomm modems too, making your claim that Samsung are always among the first targeted because they have the best modems false. Carrriers may be working hard but that’s here, go to other countries and you’ll find a hard time getting even a proper 3G signal. Plus the difference between the two speed wise for the iPhones that have an intel modem is maybe a blink of an eye, or an extra sip of coffee while waiting, nothing drastic or even noticeable in the long run. My point is just how ******** this commercial is on a data point that is completely subjective to your phone, carrier, signal strength, what you’re doing, and so many more variables. It’s stupid to advertise a “feature”, and diss another companies when said featur is subjective anyway

It really is and Europe has the intel modem.
I used to be on o2, until the iPhone 5s when I switched to ee and Never looked back.
Ee has been great.

I thought you switched to the s9?

LoL I don't remember any iphone destroying Samsung in LTE speeds.
Apple can at most match Samsung's LTE speeds but given their conflict with Qualcomm the chances for that to happen are quite small. But who knows maybe 2018 is the year iphones will finally have gigabit LTE Speeds capabilities and will be able to match the old Snapdragon 835.

Also this article was posted last year on this site.

iPhone 8 Shows Modest Improvements in Cellular Network Bandwidth Tests
https://www.macrumors.com/2017/09/28/iphone-8-cellular-bandwidth-tests/

If iPhones, as you clearly claim, can match the speeds of Samsung phones, this Advert is just a pile of dung, isn't it?

Here in the Uk I have a 300 gb per month plan on my iPhone, no throttling. It really feels like the future.

Anyone care to speculate when we will start getting 5G phones considering they are doing field tests and deployment in a few cities?

No I haven’t switched. Just got the S9 as a secondary phone but my sim is still in my iPhone X where it will stay until the x plus comes out.

Really tempted to switch as I’ve still not been able to use my cellular Apple Watch on o2!

Did Samsung ever make commercials bragging how their phones are 100% more likely to explode and catch on fire? or that their phones are unique in that they are banned from all flights in the USA?

When I buy a phone, download speed isn't even on my list of features.

Only smart consumers care about faster download speed because it means the transfer can complete quicker so the radio can go into low power state to prevent from draining the battery.

Actually this is pretty genius from Samsung. The average consumer doesn't understand the numbers tied to every electronic part of a computer, but to say your phone has the "fastest download speeds" is enough for people instead of showing them graphs, MHz charts, and data tables in GBs.

Its not any different from saying "Ultra HD" TV or "retina" display. But is it legal to have someone wear a competitor logo in your ad? Isn't it like trademark and you need license to use it?

When you’re the biggest name in the market, you get ads directed at you. As it turns out, we don’t have ads directly attacking any specific Android brands, do we?

I hope you don't forget Apple launched the Mac vs PC campaign. Jobs literally had 2 computers on stage, Mac and PC, to show the speed difference between the 2. I believe it was a Compaq.
