Sure it’s a faster chip but realistically with the speeds some service providers give, there’s really no difference. Plus when you get back to the basement of your suberban home, or inside a concrete apartment, you’ll be lucky if your Twitter feed loads on any phone...

Realistically speaking Samsung's top Galaxy phones are faster on average(so basically most of the time) when it comes to connections speeds.
It's amusing to see users here trying to dismiss the importance of having a fast and efficient modem in a phone (so something that is a communication device) just because Apple is behind.

This marketing is deceptive and arguably dishonest. Who cares if the Samsung download speed is incrementally faster? Where is the benefit?

Download speed was fast enough 3 years ago. Consistency of LTE is the bottleneck now.

Also, people don’t go to Apple stores to talk to a genius. It’s a convenient way to get a device serviced locally. That in fact is a major benefit.

Well, to me it seems quite clear that Samsungs objective only is to make Apple look stupid... however they can.

I can literally name 10 apps that have a larger size that 150mb....smh check your “facts” buddy
He was most likely talking about app download sizes limits for when you are not on wifi.

These ads remind me of the Intel Pentium 4 versus AMD Athlon XP wars.

Throughput wise, Pentium won because of gigahertz advantage. (that is like Samsung saying they feature higher download speeds)

But usage wise, AMD won on lower gigahertz even, because their architecture was more efficient and got a lot of general work done faster.

It's nothing like that. Qualcomm's modems are both faster, more efficient and get better signal than Intel modems.
So it's not like a Pentium that would only have a frequency advantage it's more like a i7 8700k which is superior in both IPS and frequency to anything AMD has with the added bonus that Qualcomm modes are also more efficient.

I am a Samsung fan. My current phone is the Note 8 (best phone I have ever had - better than my former iPhone).

But... I dont understand Samsung ad policy. Their hardware is amazing, they dont need this crappy ads. I really dont get it...

Intelligent people can see through this type of advertising, only inferior competitors run their mouths.

A bit like Conor McGregor.

Like I said but you seemed to brush over, it doesn’t matter cause not every has a high end Wi-Fi connection, or do most service providers around the world provide speed and which even meet the iPhone’s chip. It’s not dismissing importance, it’s not being able to use it in most cases, making that speed irrelevant.

I find it hilarious that everytime Samsung make one of these adds we have pages of Apple fans expressing their outrage.

if I see one more Samsung ad, I'm gonna find their marketing director. Honestly their comparing unrealistic things that don't matter at all. Which makes no sense. First your comparing an iPhone 6 with a S9 and now this? like honestly this is some joke Samsung is playing, look around the people in the mall more people have iPhones. lets be honest. it all comes down to preference. the iPhone is just simple, apple doesn't start mocking the competitors as much as Samsung, goes to show how poor Samsung's sales are

So modem performance in a phone doesn't matter at all?

The Genius Bar really isn't something Samsung should mention. People otherwise forget how nonexistent their support is, especially against Apple having one of the best tech retail/support store chains ever.

What you claim is irrelevant. Maximum theoretical speed doesn't need to be met, Qualcomm modems are simply faster nu matter the situation.
Also carriers have been working hard for years to improve the connection speeds they provide and Samsung phones are always among the first to be targeted(by these improvements) simply because they have the best modems(and well they are more popular than other phone brands).

I just heard a radio ad on my way back from picking up dinner

*booming*
“THE FASTEST SPEEDS!!!”
“STREAM FASTER!!”
“DO THINGS YOU LOVE FASTER”

Followed by that high speed, almost unparseable BasedonasruveyofaggregatedownloadspeedsontheAT&Tnetworkspeedsmayvary. Treading a fine line
My download speed is probably like 1/100th what they advertise.

Samsung is targeting the average joes or janes that have no clue about tech or smartphones.
Don't "the average joes or janes" make-up the largest percentage of the population? Seems like a good business to go after to me. You want to be informed and niche well good luck that's why iPhones are only 10% of all mobile phones world-wide.

The difference between them is only 5 seconds when downloading a 100Mb file. Not a biggie at all, certainly not enough to warrant a whole ad about it anyway.

I might agree they “can” be faster given the right conditions but overall what is the actual percentage “faster” overall.

Attached is a result from my iPhone 7 Plus at my office on the 5th floor of a building at a window WITH the AT&T tower within line of sight.

The highest download speed is only seldom achieved by mobile users, so it is just a number on a spec sheet that has little impact on everyday's life.
Signal strength is way more important if you live on an area with poor coverage, so the main focus should be improving that aspect instead of theoretical speed.

lol, Samsung dosent have a Genius Bar....because their phones are already in the mail for replacement with something like a 27.4% failure rate

Yeah. Their phones are in the mail. While you're still waiting in line at the genius bar to get yours replaced....

:D

Samsung is just like a teenager teasing another one because they like them :D

Yeah, the stole that from Apple, too: Apple's marketing - especially their marketing for Macs - has always been about belittling the (usually more successful) competition.
[doublepost=1531901703][/doublepost]
The ads clearly aren’t working too well given the sales comparison

You know, that island called United States is not the world; it's not even representative for the other markets on this planet -- because there Android devices outsell everything Apple produces.

Great ad, worth every cent if only to see Apple apologists get all mad. :)

Yeah, exactly. :D

That was almost a decade ago. Keep up grandad!

1300 different brands of Android phones combined outsell one single iPhone brand? Really? You don't say....

Samsung do have some experience stores where you can take your device in to be repaired in the UK, although my nearest one is almost 2 hours away. So for most it is a case of sending your device away.

However you have to make an appointment at the Genius Bar and sometimes you can wait a week or more for that. In that time you could have sent your phone away to be fixed and had it returned.

LoL Blancco's not the end of everything data says 27% of android phones that fail are from Samsung. If Samsung makes about 35% of all Android phones, this would indicate that their phones are on average more reliable than other Android phone manufactures.
