Anyone else noticing people leaving Apple lately?

After the iPhone 7 and the new MacBook Pro release I've already seen several friends and colleagues switch to windows and android.

I myself bought a Dell XPS 15 laptop instead of the new MacBook.

Now I'm considering getting the OnePLus and leaving Apple for good

.
I've seen the opposite people leaving android for Apple. Grass isnt greener on the other side.

Not really sure what a wrap around display will do to benefit the user experience... I like my side buttons.

But, as with the rumored wireless charging Apple is doing, when Apple copies someone, they do it much better.

Each to their own I guess. But no I haven't seen that happening on a worrying scale. I think that people have become more impatient and like little children, stamping their feet and expecting Apple to release something new and shiny all the while, with all the features they want. When they do something different like remove the headphone jack people moan, until 12 months later when they've forgotten all about it. If people want to jump ship to Windows and or Andriod that's their choice, but i still think Apple makes the better products.

I swear if I can't get a OLED iPhone that has a flat screen I will never buy another iPhone again. I can't believe Apple would want to copy the POS curved screen that Samsung has, they truly will jump the shark if that happens. Who in their right mind thinks that curved screen is half way decent? All it does is distort your screen and make it horrible for watching video's on or reading web pages, WTF Apple!!!
Well, if Samsung's implementation is so bad, isn't there a good chance that Apple is doing something different that can be described with the label 'curved display'?
Also the quote mentions AMOLED while the article from MacRumors says OLED. Maybe goes to show this is all just fake??
Since AMOLED is a subcategory of OLED, one might rather question your ability of finding clues as to the truthfulness of articles.

All very confusing I thought they were looking at adding a 5" to the existing range https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...inch-iphones-next-year.2014226/#post-23900820 .
I will be mift if the largest model only gets a OLED display, apple should provide the same display type in all models or many folks will be disappointed.

Agreed. Very confusing. And these early rumors are so contradictory of each other, It makes it impossible to determine fact versus false. Until supplier parts and photos leak, I never confirm any beliefs on the iPhone renderings until more confirmation is concrete. And I honestly think some of these tech sites are desperate for anything this time of year, being its slower until about March. They all report the same stories, just re-hashed differently.

Close. I would go as far as to say that both the 5" & 5.8" will be OLED. I can see the following lineup for 2017

iPhone "8" (5.0" / 5.8" OLED)
iPhone 7 / 7 Plus
iPhone 6s
iPhone SE
Apple has sold three generations of phones concurrently for quite a while, but the SE has upset that pattern somewhat by taking over the lowest price bracket without being two generations behind the current model (internally it is only one generation behind the 7, screen- and case-wise it is three generations behind the 7).
  • Apple sold the 4s, 4 and 3Gs concurrently for a year.
  • It sold the 5, 4s and 4 concurrently for a year.
  • It sold the 5s, 5c and 4s concurrently for a year.
  • It sold the 6, 5s and 5c concurrently for a year.
  • It then sold the 6s, 6 and 5s concurrently for half a year.
  • It then sold the 6s, 6 and SE concurrently for another half-year.
  • It is now selling the 7, 6s and SE concurrently for probably a full year.
My guess would be that the SE keeps being the phone to cover the lowest price bracket (probably getting cheaper by $50 or so) and that the 6s won't be sold anymore.

Who cares if the curved screen adds functionality or not. It looks better than a flat screen. The problem with the curved screen as done by Samsung is it hinders the user experience. If apple can make a good looking curved screen phone, that functions as well as a traditional flat screen, it will have a winner.

Can you imagine if Apple were to spend the smallest fraction of the effort and resources they expend on the iPhone in its many itinerations on that "other-thing-they-used-to do-but-don't-so-much-any-more" what sort of Mac lineup we might be seeing? You know, that Mac lineup which exists on Tim's roadmap but nowhere else?

Regardless of how you feel about Samsung's business practices, what's bad about this is it suggests pentile screens, which I'd hoped Apple would avoid. Hopefully they can still get them to make a real screen.

I agree.

However, for me, an even bigger disappointment would be if pixel density doesn't increase as a part of the shift to (AM)OLED.

Maybe I never looked closely before, but I don't recall any of the illustrations accompanying past mentions of iPhone 7s/8 screens specifying PPI.

A pentile (AM)OLED screen with less than 550 PPI = no deal.

The nest iPhone will come in 5" and 5.8" displays, will be bezel-less, no wrap around displays or anything like that, and only the larger model (7s Plus) will be OLED, remember this comment!

I think exactly the same. Plus iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus at lower prices. And all these rumors are messing up with everything because, yes, there will be a 4.7", 5", 5.5" and 5.8" models, but 4.7" and 5.5" will be the 7 and 7 Plus.

Nonsense
The S7 EDGE has 534 ppi and like many many many many many reviewers (including me) this screen is tested superb and sharper then the current 7 plus full HD screen. Period.

Whoa, take it easy. 534 is close enough. I just don't want to see anything not significantly greater than 401.

POST EDIT: My other implied point is that comparing pentile (AM)OLED PPI to IPS LED LCD PPI is not comparing "apples to apples". LOL?

I think you could be right, they started towards the removal of buttons with the removal of the clickable home button, I think we could see it put into the screen alongside the Touch ID feature. Then the removal of the power button, volume and mute button to be replaced with a wrap around display. OR what about if they did something similar to the Touch Bar, where the edges were able to change function? For example they could be a mute button, on off and so on, but it could also change to be other things like notifications and so on?
The edges of the iPhone are for holding the iPhone.

Back on topic, I am still wondering when will Apple finally realize that those of us wanting the small phone are NOT CHEAP and we are buying the smaller phone because we WANTED IT THAT SIZE, so that they can stop denying us the top spec features?

So you want them to focus on the minority using smaller? I rather them focus on bigger phones since after iPhone 7 a majority chose a 5.5 inch this time around.

@dominiongamma from USA.

You haven't got your facts right and I would love to know where you get your information from.

iPhone Sept 2016 sales

iPhone 7 - 31%
iPhone 7 PLUS - 12%

Fair play a big increase on 'plus' from '6' but standard 7 outsells 7 'plus' by approx 2.6 to 1
not 'a MAJORITY chose 5.5" this time around.'

The iPhone 5.5" has NEVER out sold the 4.7" since the 5.5" was launched on 6 plus.

Like it or not smaller phones are a thing of the past

Agreed. Look how the electronic industry has changed over the years with T.V's, Phones, smart watches, etc.

Streaming, reading and viewing content has never been easier and more accessible possible through larger screens, and high definition screens at that. Small Phones tend to be just that, a phone which accomplishes primarily for those who use it for texting and some online browsing. But the full experience will never be their for smaller screens, because it's limited and has more restrictions for some.

The major advantage for smaller screens is portability and offering more form factor for one handed use.

I agree the larger phones have a lot of 'pluses' [sic] and are gaining traction, but I think the sweet spot is 5" - larger than that they become difficult to carry.
Also with, is it 51% females, I think a chunky iPhone for the ladies would be a hindrance.
