You can't seriously believe what you just said. The iPhone 4 is quite low-end nowadays compared to what's out there, the iPhone 4S barely catches up. The SGS II and SGS II HD are both quite ahead of the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S barely catches up to them in specs.

The fact is, you don't have facts, you have an opinion on Android.

I'm buying an iPhone 4S, but I also realise that I'm not buying some kind of super up-to-date phone.

Based on WHAT? This is the dumbest, emptiest FUD I've ever read. You're Wrong.

Good move by Google and Samsung. They can wait a week or so, it's not like they aren't dominating the market anyway.

Nice, but I don't think etiquette required that. Maybe there was a lot of anti-Apple marketing / rhetoric involved in the original plans?

I totally disagree.Listen to what you said, if they meant anything of what you said and they pulled the plug on it, guess what? Thats respect...Jeeez

This is not about respect, they just waiting the storm of media about sj death runs out.

I think it's very interesting that both of Google's founders issued very thoughtful statements about Jobs, and now are modifying significant product announcement plans out of respect. Look at how many other Apple "competitors" that Apple has had a love/hate relationship over the years with (Bill Gates) also issued very thoughtful condolences.

I wish the "Apple Haters" would take note. I'm not saying they should always agree with Apple, heck, they might loathe the company, and its products. That's fine, sometimes I do too! But, sheesh, have some respect -- Google does, Bill Gates does, every other leader in the tech industry does. There's no need for the outright vitriol many people spew towards Apple AND its fans/users that I see left and right across the web. I don't see nearly as many instances of Apple users bashing other platforms.

I guess some people just can't stand the leader!

The guess is totally ********.

If apple itself did not delay the media event and launch of iphone 4s (obviously they realized the health of steve better than anyone else), how comes that google's cancellation is a show of respect to Steve?

It sounds that google's announcement will crush apple altogether and they will delay their killer product to show respect.

What a "classy" joke!

I feel the same way, it's ridiculous to cancel on account of this, especially when they are competitors. It's not like Samsung/Google had anything to do with his death. The first time I saw the keynote was after Job's death and there were lots of people smiling and laughing and joking. It was a bit surreal that around 24 hours later, the death would be announced. Who even knows the exact time of passing?

Not at all. The iPhone 4S is not light years above it's competition. It will sell like it is, but in reality, the bar hasn't been raised. But sales are all that count.

They had great respect for each other, you only had to watch the All Things Digital 5 interview to see that.
*******
Earlier in the day, before Gates arrived, I did a solo onstage interview with Jobs, and asked him what it was like to be a major Windows developer, since Apple's iTunes program was by then installed on hundreds of millions of Windows PCs.

He quipped: "It's like giving a glass of ice water to someone in Hell."

When Gates later arrived and heard about the comment, he was, naturally, enraged. In a pre-interview meeting, Gates said to Jobs "so I guess I'm the representative from hell."

Jobs merely handed Gates a cold bottle of water. The tension was broken, and the interview was a triumph, with both men acting like statesmen. When it was over, the audience rose in a standing ovation, some of them in tears.

I wonder if Jobs would have shown the same respect if it was one of his competitors. Probably not.

In what world are you living in where Steve Jobs does not show respect to others? Steve Jobs understood competition and went after companies for unfair competition, or outright stealing. Someone dying has nothing to do with this. You're an Apple hater through and through and can't see the real world with your anti Apple blinders on.

iPhone 4S to SGS II HD ? Hum, the SGS II HD has better screen resolution (4.65" at 1280x720), a faster processor, the same GPU, SAMOLED with awesome black levels and very good sunlight performance (compared to other OLED implementations), more storage through expendability, removable battery and all the same little features you find in your standard iPhone.

iOS 5 now properly implements notifications (those were annoying) but still doesn't have true multi-tasking of 3rd party applications (still relying on backgrounded tasks and push notifications).

The issues I have with my 3GS right now : Installing app updates freezes once in a while, leaving the app unusable without a reboot. After rebooting, the app is removed from the folder I put it in so I have to move it back.

So no, iOS isn't perfect, Android isn't perfect and the iPhone 4 is not some kind of god phone nor is the iPhone 4S the king of specs.

Again, I'm buying an iPhone 4S, but only because I have an investment in the iOS eco-system. On a comparitive basis, it is not the best phone to get.

I'd say a bit of both. I wouldn't be surprised if the iPhone 4S was partially to blame too (i.e. they won't make an announcement next week).

Why would it be to blame ? The iPhone 4S does not even have anything that the SGS II doesn't have, much less the SGS II HD.

Not to mention this is the Nexus Prime most probably :

Now are we going to claim copying ?

Go on, launch whatever crap you have. It still will be failure. Samsun, please, just roll over and die.

Now, if only MR posters could learn from these companies putting aside differences to show respect.

Nah, lottery is a better bet.

This just goes to show you, all that bickering and all those court cases are just corporate legal nonsense, it's these people's jobs. But in the end, humans are still humans.

I got to the bold and stopped reading. That's all I needed to see to know that you're just another spec ***** who doesn't understand reality vs. concept.

I hate to belittle the possibility of these companies doing something "nice" but to me it all sounds like, "this is a great excuse for delaying our release while we work like crazy to "catch-up" or put together a better product to actually compete with Apple's new phone. All the while making ourselves look good."

This is not respect - it's politics and PR.

Yeah, it did strike me as odd. I mean, it's not like Apple themselves closed up shop. I think probably the announcements were, as always, focused with the usual "iPhone killer" rhetoric or pointed out their strengths bs iPhone weaknesses. But it can almost be seen as an admission that their product is linked to Apple's either by inspiration or patent infringement. If the latter, they could have put together a little thank you to Steve for years of pushing themselves Nd the entire industry to a higher standard. That would have been the classier choice.

Good. Give credit where it's due. All these also-rans owe a huge debt to Jobs. Finally they're actually giving something back instead of just taking and taking and taking.

I've watched interviews of him and Gates together and Gates praised Jobs for his work and Steve still took his cheap shots at Windows like he has done on many occasions. He has never shown respect for the competition, only mockery. It doesn't take away from what he has done in life, it merely shows what kind of person he was.

how is the 4s behind the SGS II or the SGS II HD????
