now if you want top of the line spec from samsung you need to pay over 1000.....4-5 years ago...they kept the same price over the previous model
you want 5g on your iphone? same price as before...you want promotion, same price it will be
Apple knows its financial strategy ...macs with M1 become the most bang for the buck in the industry...now its seems the iphone 13 will become the same
I mean, you need to pay over $1000 USD for the top line spec from Apple, also. And they actually dropped the price by $200 from the S20 Ultra.

I still think that those topline phones - be they from Apple or Samsung - are just absurdly overpriced, but I get that they are halo models not unlike halo cars which sell in much smaller volumes, but are for the brand and also a test bed for the newest tech and innovations.

I, for one, don't mind a non-glass back as long as it doesn't look like garbage and is more durable/less damage prone than glass. Plastic still allows for NFC and wireless charging, so if it reduces cost while still looking decent and is still good to hold (i.e. no slippery plastics or glass), then I'm all for it.

Finally, not sure I like the new camera array, but it's definitely not any worse than the trypophobia-inducing iphone 11 pro max camera array. And it is an interesting design decision to integrate the housing to the alloy sides. Nothing really compares to the Nokia 9 PureView, though. That was just weird.

For $799, you get a plastic back, a worse camera, and a screen worse than the iPhone that was released in 2014.
What’s going on SamSung?
Your comments on the camera and screen are demonstrably untrue. They don't even come close to being true.

The iPhone 6 Plus, released in 2014, has a single 8MP camera that shot video at 1080p@60fps, 720p@240fps
The S21 has 3 cameras, two with 12MP and one with 64MP and (spec sheet says) shoots up to 8K video.

6 Plus display is a 5.5" 60Hz LCD with 1080 x 1920 pixels, 16:9 ratio (~401 ppi density)
S21 is a 6.2" 120Hz AMOLED with 1080 x 2400 pixels, 20:9 ratio (~421 ppi density)

There is no world in which any reasonable person lives where the iPhone 6 Plus cameras and display are better than those of the S21. You're just making up random statements at this point.

There is just zero attraction to these phones. Samsung made the wrong bet this year. They likely thought Apple was gonna hold back on the iPhone 12. I'm sure by 2022, it will be business as usual. The reality that's starting to kick in though is there really no game changing, must have features anymore. Even though this does not affect the iPhone much, i haven't gotten the desire to upgrade since I bought my iPhone X. My future plans really is just to upgrade when I want to, not need to. What a time to be alive?

Man am I glad I’m not into Samsung/Android phones anymore. These S21s look so ridiculous. Back in the day I switched between Apple and Samsung when I owned the S1/S3/S5 but stopped after that.

Samsung is all about gimmicks but eventually all that stuff falls short on what my needs are on a phone. Apple just hits all the right buttons and ever since the 6+ I haven’t looked back.

- No headphone jack
- No SD card
- Flat display
- Hole punch camera
- Lower display resolution than previous models
- ****ing ugly.

Hard pass. The Galaxy S8 really was the pinnacle of Samsung's design.
You do realize that all of those criticisms other than "hole punch" and the highly subjective "****ing ugly" comments also apply to the iPhone 11, right? No headphone jack, no SD card, flat display, lower resolution than the iPhone X. And as far as the camera goes, some people prefer the notch, others prefer the hole punch. I'm sure it's far more heavily weighted in favor of the notch here, but that's another subjective opinion.

Absolutely gorgeous phones. Glad somebody decided to finally integrate the camera hump in a more aesthetically pleasing way. Then we have the world leading innovation for displays that all other OEM have to wait for Samsung to introduce, before these other OEMs can decide what their own phones will look like. Amazing innovation, bravo Samsung.

Samsung has today announced a range of new devices at its Galaxy Unpacked event, including the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra, as well as Galaxy Buds Pro earphones and Galaxy SmartTag item trackers.

Samsung's latest Galaxy S21 series of smartphones feature a new design, edge-to-edge Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O display with adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, and 8K video recording. The Galaxy S21 has a lightweight design and a compact 6.2-inch display, while the Galaxy S21+ has a 6.7-inch display and a larger battery.

The Galaxy S21 series espouses a new Contour Cut Camera housing that blends into the device's metal frame, and the AI-powered triple-lens camera system itself also sees a number of improvements, with the ability to intuitively assess scenes and adjust the camera settings accordingly.

For customers who need the most from their Galaxy device, there is the S21 Ultra, which delivers an "intelligent pro-grade camera system," improved display, Wi-Fi 6E9, ultra-wideband capabilities, and better performance. The S21 Ultra also brings the popular S Pen experience to the Galaxy S series for the first time.

With a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, the Galaxy S21 Ultra is the largest device in the Galaxy S21 series. For the first time, users can enable a 120Hz refresh rate and Quad HD+ at the same time, and the display is 25 percent brighter and has a 50 percent improved contrast ratio.

The S21 Ultra features a quad rear camera system with ultra-wide, wide, and dual tele-lenses, 100x Space Zoom, improved Night Mode, and an upgraded 108MP pro sensor that can capture 12-bit HDR photos. All lenses, including the front camera, can shoot video in 4K at 60fps.

The S21 and S21+ are available in 128GB and 256GB storage configurations and a range of colors, including Phantom Violet, Phantom Gold, Phantom Red, Phantom Gray, Phantom Pink, and Phantom White, with pre-orders starting today. The S21 Ultra also offers a 512GB model, with Phantom Silver, Phantom Black, Phantom Titanium, Phantom Navy, and Phantom Brown color options, starting at $1,199.99. The Galaxy S21 starts at $799.99 and Galaxy S21+ starts at $999.99. Devices will begin arriving with customers on January 29.

In addition to the S21 series of smartphones, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Buds Pro, with "immersive sound," improved call quality, intelligent ANC, IPX7 water resistance, and enhanced connectivity. With an 11-millimeter woofer for deeper bass and a 6.5-millimeter tweeter for a crisp treble with minimum distortion, the Galaxy Buds Pro achieve what Samsung says is its "best audio experience yet."

The Galaxy Buds Pro feature three microphones, a Voice Pickup Unit, Wind Shield technology, Ambient Sound amplification, automatic ANC, and automatic device switching. When used with a Galaxy S21 series smartphone, the Buds Pro offer 360 Audio with Dolby Head Tracking technology, similar to Apple's Spatial Audio feature on AirPods Pro and AirPods Max.

The Galaxy Buds Pro can deliver up to eight hours of continuous playback, with an additional 20 hours of reserve power available via the wireless charging case. Galaxy Buds Pro are available for pre-order now in Phantom Black, Phantom Silver, and Phantom Violet for $199.99.

The company also introduced the Galaxy SmartTag, a low energy Bluetooth item tracker. The Galaxy SmartTag enables users to quickly and easily locate items based on the strength of the Bluetooth signal in the SmartThings Find app, and users can emit a chime from the tag. The SmartTag is believed to be Samsung's competitor to Apple's long-awaited AirTags item trackers.

The Galaxy SmartTag retails for $29.99 and all pre-orders of the Galaxy S21, S21+, or S21 Ultra will also include a free Galaxy SmartTag. An ultra-wideband variant called Tag+ will arrive later in 2021 for $39.99.

Because people make a huge deal over small things that Apple does, and they won't stop crapping on Apple about it for months. I never understand why it's okay for Apple to be made fun of here but when another company gets made fun then some people get defensive for that poor company. SMH.
How does that relate to why Twitter shows information about how a tweet was posted?

I am not sure why you said that Samsung held something back. As I see it they brought greater differentiation between Sxx and Ultra models. Ultra offers first 1440p+ 120Hz display (10-120Hz), 1,500 nits. They lowered resolution on Sxx models but that might be related to prioritizing 120Hz (previous models had 1440p but 120Hz only worked in 1080p mode). They now have two telephoto cameras on Ultra and ultrawide band support. Sxx went with flat screen (which is reflected in the price drop) but Ultra still has a luxury curved screen. The new phones also have second generation (bigger and faster) Qualcomm's under-display fingerprint sensor. Ultra model - as usual - offers the best smartphone hardware there is to have right now.

... if for some reason you do want the S21, just wait a month or two and they will be 4-500$ and buy one get one with a free washer.
Samsung's going to copy the iPhone 12 BOGO offers I keep seeing?

Entire phone lineup looks very nasty and they are using that cheap also NASTY gorilla glass variant also. Will never be handcrafted and designed with craftsmanship like an iPhone.
Samsung always uses the best Gorilla glass on their flagship phones. What exactly are you talking about? Saying that iPhones are "handcrafted" is very misleading at best. They are mass produced devices manufactured in countries with the cheapest labor force. Samsung manufactures at least some of their phones in South Korea. They also source most of their parts from South Korea.

Why do the Mods allow such misleading comments to be made on the forums?
