The $200 is to help compensate Samsung buyers for getting the processor speed of a 2 year old iPhone and only a third of the length of time receiving system and security updates.
A third of the time. Samsung give system updates for 3 years and security updates for 4 years.

Don't agree with the hate for these.

But then again, I just came off the Samsung camp after 8 years or so, and was happy there. The OS, the performance, their incredible screens, fingerprint readers, feature upon feature (even if I didn't use them all). All good.

That said, I switched to Apple this year for the ecosystem, and the ecosystem only.

At this point, this is the only thing that really differentiates these higher-end devices. Everything else is aesthetic or muscle-memory preferences.

Man, they make some unattractive products. Also, if for some reason you do want the S21, just wait a month or two and they will be 4-500$ and buy one get one with a free washer.
I think Samsung coin it in based on Apple pricing; these phones are always "worth" $5-600 [Pixel, OnePlus, Motorola do just fine at these prices] and I suspect they still make a huge profit. but hey if they can charge more they can and do. Wait and see how much new headphones costs now that Apple have conditioned everyone to $600 for a pair. It's the one thing you can count on Apple being first for...new price levels, Phones, watches, speakers, tablets and now headphones, each one launched with a huge bump in prevailing RRP

when Apple makes cuts to lower prices, they try to do it in a way where it’s barely noticeable. Think of the iPhone XR, other than a couple compromises, experience wise it was basically the same phone as the XS.
When Samsung attempts to cut costs, they make it extremely, extremely noticeable.
That SE is barely distinguishable from all other iPhones....like the Ipad is so similar to the iPad Pro; frighteningly similar.

Those phones look awful. They remind me of swiss cheese.

And Samsung fans are OK with all those cut backs on their flagship phones? Plastic? In 2021? Did Samsung run out of glass at the factory or something?

This makes OnePlus look God tier in comparison. Big yikes.

its worth buying just for being able to set "organise apps alphabetically" without having to reset the home screen every time

Look at that back! See, you CAN make a phone with a unique design that's not ripping off Apple!
Too bad I don't see the back of the my phone that often, since I keep it in a case.
You know what I always see? The front. And what's that? A HOLE IN MY DISPLAY?
At least they got rid of that curved sides, that's an improvement...

Can't wait for my 8+ to arrive, the last iPhone with a no-nonsense display. Seems like I will have to use it for some years, until the manufacturers get back to their senses...

Unreal , they took the AirTags leaks and just made the product themselves with the AR thingy as well .......it’s a typical Samsung move, rush it to market to be the “first”. Prolly going to be terrible like most things they rush out.

I LOVED my iPhone 8 Plus. What a great, solid, fast, classy looking, reliable phone. I think it might be my favorite of all time so far.

I thought of getting the new S series phones this year because it's been 2 years since my purchase of an S10+. I think I'll pass again this year and just keep using my S10+ and my Note 10+. I'm also still using my XS Max. No need to buy new phones every year anymore.

And a lot of people forget that when the iPhone XR moved to the 11, it got a faster processor, I believe it got more ram, it got another camera on the back, a better battery, new color options... and was $50 cheeper.
Galaxy S 21 has a worse screen, a plastic back, less ram, slower fast charging, and yet it’s supposed to be an upgrade.

The A14 chip is still laughing at the snapdragon 888 and exynos 2100.

Short useless synthetic benchmarks are misleading. I tried playing Need for Speed No Limits on iPhone 12 Max but it suffered from periodic lag during game play. Must be bumping into thermal limit and throttling or something. Not the only one either.

https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/665191
Not when it comes to real world use, changing between camera modes doesn’t lag like on androids, never experience any lag on iOS when using a iPhone, same can’t be said about android phones.

There is always noticeable lag when using android phones, even on their flagship models.

Plus a iPhone with less than half the ram compared to these android devices runs way smoother.

Also iPhones have smaller batteries than android phones, yet they still put them to shame, that comes down to the chipset.

Apples chipsets are legendary, been leading the industry for a long time now, wouldn’t call it misleading

“Samsung's latest Galaxy S21 series of smartphones feature a new design, edge-to-edge Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O display with adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, and 8K video recording. The Galaxy S21 has a lightweight design and a compact 6.2-inch display, while the Galaxy S21+ has a 6.7-inch display and a larger battery.”

Makes the iPhone 12 Pro look like it is an much earlier two or three generation behind smartphone! Apple just does not want to put in the new screens, nor the 120Hz refresh rate, notch less screen or a true bezel less design. Sad! ;)

Apple needs to step up their components to state of the art now since it not only Samsung and LG but the Chinese smartphones that have these new features too. Apple is falling behind.

Not a case of not wanting to more a case not enough ltpo panels to meet apples demand last year for 120hz

8K is not really ready for mainstream either.

Samsung always uses the best Gorilla glass on their flagship phones. What exactly are you talking about? Saying that iPhones are "handcrafted" is very misleading at best. They are mass produced devices manufactured in countries with the cheapest labor force. Samsung manufactures at least some of their phones in South Korea. They also source most of their parts from South Korea.
And you think that labor is any different? Manufacturing is all about lowest labor cost...no matter where it's built.

A lot of butt hurt fanboy comments yet again. Kudos to Samsung for a fantastic phone. I will be getting either the S21 Ultra or Note 21 Ultra.
Its so weird that people on a Mac site prefer Apple products!
I personally hate Android and I can't stand Samsung phones as I think they look crap and are nowhere near as good quality as Apple, does that make me a butt hurt fanboy or does that make me a person that has my own opinion about something?

Enjoy your new S21, but then why are you on an 'pro-Apple' website if you think everyone here are dicks?
