I have purchased 4 iPads and one iPad mini. My iPad is the first thing in my hands in the morning and the last thing in my hands at night (sorry wifey). That said, I never saw the value proposition of the iPhone. I LOVE Samsung Galaxy phones. This is why the new GS6 phones are such a disappointment. I really like being able to swap out microSD cards and batteries if needed. Without that, there really is no reason not to seriously consider an iPhone. Samsung has taken away what is differentiating it from the iPhone and it can't hope to win against Apple without serious differenences.

Plus, putting the headphone jack at the bottom is stupid. It looks stupid on the iPhone and it looks stupid on any phone. Again, no difference in the hardware basics, why would I not choose an iPhone?

Sad.

Actually headphone slot on the bottom is quite a lot better. I'd rather have the cable down and out of the way rather than dangling down the side of the phone when I'm using the phone.

Apple doesn't even have to sue them over this one. It's such a joke and the sales will slip so much that it's totally laughable!

I don't know why it makes me so angry, but it does. It just aggrivates me! Not only is the design a blatent copy of the 6...And all the features they bragged about having (removeable battery, Expandable storage, etc) that iPhone didn't...And curves, and headphone jack, and speaker holes...But "samsung pay"??? Really? It has to be the worst thing Samsung has ever done in terms of copying. I am sure it's done on purpose for some reason. But if I was a decision maker at Samsung, "samsung pay" would have been wiped off the idea board 2 seconds after it was written just because if nothing else, it's completely unoriginal and embarrassing.

----------

Yeah, cause a curved screen is really copying Apple isn't it?

The curved screen is a gimmick, just like all of samsungs "features" that they have ditched. Like swiping your hand over the phone to change pictures. You know, for that one time that two guys are grilling and he needs to show his buddy a picture on his phone. Has anyone seen a Note Edge in the wild yet?

That funny how all you are talking about the iphone . But iphone is still way behind . Come one iphone still using 1g of ram and a dual core and low pixal camera's . Really . And that article is wrong both phone come with micro card slots. Samsung still have a 8 core processor 3g of ram and a really good camera. Iphone still sucks and is still way behind. And to set the record straight Samsung help apple with there phones . Apple stole samsung ideas so get that straight people.

What are you smoking? There's a reason Apple has won pattent disputes on design against samsung. Apple uses Samsungs manufacturing, which Samsung uses to steal Apples ideas. Android can only use 4 of those 8 cores, so it's a gimmick and Android needs 3gb ram for the bloat. Apple is also 64bit while Samsung is 32bit... even though android now supports 64bit. And my 8mp camera takes incredible pictures. If I need more than that, I use a CAMERA.

PS. your grammar sucks.

The trial is still ongoing in appeal and just in the US.

Apple lost trials for patent infringment as well in south korea.

BS

Android can only use 4 of those 8 cores, so it's a gimmick
More BS, some of those are little big concept so its never meat to be used together, but some allow it for heavy tasks.

and Android needs 3gb ram for the bloat.
More BS, iphone needs more then 1GB to remedy the page reloading safari issue its been having forever. PITA that one .

Apple is also 64bit while Samsung is 32bit... even though android now supports 64bit.
Basicly just increases the app size for little or no extra performance .

Good luck with that 8/16GB iphone

PS. your grammar sucks.

Wauw some argument .

2007-2011: Samsung is screwed, so they copy Apple.

2011-2014: Samsung is doing well, so they try their own ideas, which were goofy and laughably stupid.

2015-???: Samsung is screwed again, so they copy Apple.

Precisely. But I would not worry as much this time. Apple is now much more that a Device Maker. Samsung Mobile is nothing but a Device Maker. Apple has made a VERY successful transition to a Platform Manufacturer.

Samsung is completely dependent Google. The Android versions on their devices are fragmented as all hell.

Does anyone really thing Samsung Pay will be as secure as Apple Pay? If you do, I suggest you inform yourself ASAP on App Fragmentation.

Let Samsung copy. Tim won't go "Thermonuclear." Apple no longer competes with Samsung Mobile. Let samsung sell millions of S6's. Big deal. Android is the largest Mobil OS from being on $19 Pay Phones from Dollar Tree.

Not competing with Apple. :apple:

Whilst the name is the same, Samsung Pay formely loop pay will be accepted at nearly all the terminals regardless of NFC capability

The fact they can do Tokenised secure transaction using magnetic field instead of NFC which tricks magnetic swipe readers in believing a card was present is a far better solution right now.

So in this case whilst apple pay will make millions for apple, on this instance it looks like Appled rushed out the gate first whilst Samsung through the buy out of Looppay have provided a far better solution for the short term

The only winner here is the customer

Rushed out of the gate?!? lol...Apple took years carefully getting Apple Pay ready. First a finger print reader that actually worked, a secure enclave to store it, tokenization...finally talk to the banks to get them onboard.

Samsung...lol...they rushed out with their haphazard finger print scanner a month later, after Apple came out with theirs...Bought loopPay using magnetic strip which will eventually be phased out.

Samsung Pay
3 colors, gold, silver, black
Non removable battery
No micro SD slot
Similar hardware design
Similar storage options

Welcome to the Samsung iPhone S6.

Manufactured in Korea, designed by Apple in California.

Exactly right. And after all the money they spent on attack ads on Apple for no SD slot and no removable battery. Astonishing effrontery.

Apple Pay vs Samsung Pay.... it will come down to security in the long run. If one proves more secure than the other, banks will support it and retailers will follow.

It will be interesting to see how it pans out in the long run... but multiple can survive... Apple people will use Apple Pay and Android people will use whatever it being pushed by their phone company, or device maker, or Google... or ????

In general... it will be also interesting to see how these new phones pan out for Samsung... they seem to have abandoned some key features and that may push their customers to other phones.

To me, Samsung always seems cocky on one hand and desperate on the other.

Pretty sure they mentioned welcome to 2012 from hardware specs.

The gs6 is the only phone using 8 cores and 14nm finfet.they are a full year ahead of every one now in hardware.

Samsung already had 4/8 core phones already even though Apples A series processors were beating them in performance while still using a dual core. While Samsung tweaked the processors to show faster speeds during certain benchmarks, yet slower speeds with every application.

Really

Yes microsd has gone, 32gb base model, hows apples 16gb upgrade ios anyone?

Class leading cameras
Newest processor technology Developed by Samsung
DDR4 Ram faster and larger bandwidth - Developed by Samsung
New faster Flash Memory as used in SSDS - Developed by Samsung

Those are game changers for the tech side of things and for which only Samsung can pull off seeing as they are one of the leaders in the field of chip production.

Wireless charging covering both standards, pay system works on 100 percent of terminals, curved display, 10 minutes charge for 4 hours use

Not quite seeing the apple copycat argument here are you

While Samsung makes top quality parts, it does not nessicarily make good end products in the mobile platform compared to some of the other competitors.

As usual Samsung takes many pages out of Apples book. The same things they made fun about, Removable batteries, MicroSD card slots and so on. Headphone jack on bottom, simular looking antenna breaks on the case. Speakers on the bottom with the rounded drilled holes.

I'm in the market for a new phone. My Nexus 5 is getting wonky (need and RMA at the minimum)

I don't know what I was expecting out of the Android announcements yesterday, but I feel, even after sleeping on it, that no android manufacturer in this current "generation" has come close to "nailing it".

I'm impressed by the S6 for it's technical achievements, but, i'm not sure they've really done a good job here. HTC M9 is a laughable joke.

same UI as what I had on my Galaxy 2, 5 years ago. Way to innovate Samsung! Touchwiz is hideous and showing it's age. I'm surprised they did just go all the way and name the phone "iGalaxy"

lol whats up with these people hating the UI...
you realize you are in mac forum...?
iOS had "1" look change in whole iOS life...

These people just tries to come up with some bs to glorify the apple...:D:apple:

Samsung Pay... it hasn't copied Apple but rather Google as they kicked of the mobile payment system, just no one used it.

But would Samsung made their own payment system if Apple didn't do so? My guess, they would not. Google wallet was out for years first, but no inkleing of a payment system until Apple came out with their own. We still need a better payment system for Android, but I don't think Samsung pay will be it.

Samsung already had a pay system though pre-dating apple pay.

didn't do very well, But Apple Pay's attention has brought back up the discussions of NFC payment.

Wireless charging, a big meh. Its a great, cool idea, but lack usefulness.

Wall plug, cable, plug into iPhone

Wall plug, cable, baseplate. Where is the benefit?

If you have the plug, cable and baseplate in one place, fine, Id rather do the same with a dock that has useful features.

I used to think this way till I got a Qi mat for my phone and it really is easier.

you're right in the sense that it doesn't change the overall activity of charging your device. It'll still be sitting stationary while it charges, and there's still physical contact.

but there's no more fiddling with plugging something in. When it's bedtime, it's literally reach over, put phone down. Charge.

could I live without it? Absolutely. But it's nice to have

Waiting on Apple to support it. if the iPhone6 had wireless charging right now, I'd be ordering the 64gb model this very instant.

577 ppi?

Why? Just why?

I think this is more for the VR tech and how much samsung has invested in it.

577ppi is pretty useless at standard arms lengths, but, put that about 10-15cm in front of your eyes. does 577 pass the mythical "retina" moniker at that distance?

I think that is what they're gunning for here. Since now the S6 can be used with Samsung VR

The quote about big phones would make a point if it had been said a couple of months ago. Steve said that over four years ago. Four years is a very long time in the technology industry.
You're forgetting the 5s thumb ad about a year ago.

Sure, but as the graphic pointed out, NFC is only available at 3% (220K) of US retail locations right now, whereas magswipe is available at 90% (10 million).

In five or ten years that ratio will have swapped, but in the meantime, magswipe support will be handy in the US and some other places around the world.

For instance, it should work even at those big retailers who've turned off NFC.

"MasterCard says its transactions going through Samsung Pay will create unique tokens whether you're using an NFC terminal or a magnetic card reader. "
- Samsung just unveiled a new payments platform that could be bigger than Apple Pay (Business Insider)

Thats going to be a big change in October of this year. Apple skates to where the puck where its going to be, not where it is right now.

You gotta be an idiot to buy an iPhone 6 for the same price you can get a Galaxy S6 and it has so much more to offer. But sheeps will be sheeps no doubt.

Considering that used iPhone 6's go for almost double the price of used S5's let's us know which one the market values more. The S6 will likely be sold for the same price and probably even higher than the 6 and I'll be willing to bet which one will be worth more in 1 year.

For the moment the price of a 200gb micro sd is around $400 and barely available. A 128gb is around $100. Also, the UFS 2.0 flash storage on the S6 is about 3 to 4 times faster than the latest class 10 micro sd. Besides losing the hot swapable ability, there is nothing else to complain about. That could also be one of the reasons they decided not to include an sd slot. They don't want someone puting a class 4 micro sd card inside, then complain about the S6 lagging. From the Unpacked event, it seems like Samsung is taking Apple's approach at optimized uniformity.

As far as the non removable battery goes. Nowadays, everyone is using portable external batteries. Depending on the mAh, most can fully charge a phone at least twice or more. My last 4 phones had removable batteries, but I always choose to use a portable external battery vs carrying an OEM or non OEM extra battery.

At least you have a 200gb option with microsd. AND the price is going to come down. We were paying double for microsd's not too long ago. Also you can copy videos and music directly on the microsd much faster than the usb 2.0 interface that Samsung decided to put on their phone with super fast flash ram.
