Samsung already had a pay system though pre-dating apple pay.

didn't do very well, But Apple Pay's attention has brought back up the discussions of NFC payment.

----------

I used to think this way till I got a Qi mat for my phone and it really is easier.

you're right in the sense that it doesn't change the overall activity of charging your device. It'll still be sitting stationary while it charges, and there's still physical contact.

but there's no more fiddling with plugging something in. When it's bedtime, it's literally reach over, put phone down. Charge.

could I live without it? Absolutely. But it's nice to have

Waiting on Apple to support it. if the iPhone6 had wireless charging right now, I'd be ordering the 64gb model this very instant.

I think this is more for the VR tech and how much samsung has invested in it.

577ppi is pretty useless at standard arms lengths, but, put that about 10-15cm in front of your eyes. does 577 pass the mythical "retina" moniker at that distance?

I think that is what they're gunning for here. Since now the S6 can be used with Samsung VR

They'Re still using Pentile I believe, so 577 is not "really" 577, more like 425. So, not much better than the current Iphone 6. But, from everyone I heard that actually have VR displays, it is still very far from going anywhere. The main issue is the nausea and headache inducing effects of quick movements. Slower movements were the view follows your head are less an issue.

The trial is still ongoing in appeal and just in the US.

Apple lost trials for patent infringment as well in south korea.

BS

More BS, some of those are little big concept so its never meat to be used together, but some allow it for heavy tasks.

More BS, iphone needs more then 1GB to remedy the page reloading safari issue its been having forever. PITA that one .

Basicly just increases the app size for little or no extra performance .

Good luck with that 8/16GB iphone

Wauw some argument .

Right... That's why reloading still occurs on the Ipad Air 2 even when you can check that memory is NOT the issue; most reloading is due to the way Safari seemingly handles memory, not actual system memory. Everything I else after that I just ignore. BTW, Android reloads and lags to death with 2G, what is their excuse?

Great post, dude. Totally agreed #

That's funny and myopic considering there's a substantial number of Android hyperfans TM (who purport having owned an Apple device in some distant past) posting religiously on this site with not one positive comment about Apple in their whole posting history, not a single one.

Getting a rise out of Apple owners seemingly the motivation for those posters (along with establishing a moral and intellectual superiority over those poor "isheeps" (or variant putdowns) as they are "affectionately" called)

They are mostly not constructive, or truthful criticisms or arguments; maybe willfully so.

At least people who currently own Apple products that they enjoy have a decent reason to spend quite a bit of time here.

But, hey, I've been around the net since 1988, so I've seen a lot of things that make no sense...

Samsung Pay

It makes sense for Samsung to use the word "Pay". Apple tends to popularise words. We all know that the word "wallet" for paying will die. Samsung is the first mover, and I see now Google Android is moving to using the word "Pay".

Samsung copies each step Apple makes very quickly. This means Samsung is going to continue to improve and close the gap. The gap is still a gulf at present.

Samsung have made a great move. Do I like it? No. I'm an Apple fan. I don't see the speed Samsung copy at as being useful to competition and pricing. I also own a Samsung fridge and it's a piece of crap.

But would Samsung made their own payment system if Apple didn't do so? My guess, they would not. Google wallet was out for years first, but no inkleing of a payment system until Apple came out with their own. We still need a better payment system for Android, but I don't think Samsung pay will be it.

Their have been contacted payment systems for a few years now, like in the London underground service. And we still have no Apple system in place outside America yet. I believe Google wallet was out first, but we have had bank cards with contacted payment for a while too now and this was still not used. Apple will have a hard time pushing their service onto retailers I think because they have been reluctant to use previous systems, even ones set up by the banks.
But I think it may succeed after a lot of pushing, mainly due to the finger print scanner and ease of use.

so it makes it tricky as their was a market already their for contacted payment, weather Samsung would of entered or not without Apple I don't know. I do think people were waiting for Apple to enter to give it a bit of a boost though. But as I said at the moment it is the same market as it was 3 years ago outside America.

wow

like okay this phone was released last year under a different brand, this is just more copies made under a different brand :D

and the phone released last year under a different brand was a copy of another brand.

I am surprised that Samsung didn't include the reversible USB connector port. This phone launch would have been a good place to showcase the connector. After a closer look the HTC M9 didn't include it as well.

It's obvious that Apple is working on wireless charging...they filed enough patents regarding that but Samsung was like...yeah let's beat them to that and be first

You serious? Maybe 'cause iPhone doesn't need over-specced hardware to function. Ever thought of that or are you just running after numbers to feel good

:D You should know better! Join date...today...number of posts...1...don't feed the trolls ;)

All the time!

Show me one story of Samsung being hacked or have its services compromised.

Samsung have had their Servers hacked all the time if you care to deactivate the samsung reality distortion field.

the culprits are called the NSA! curtesy of Edward Snowdon

??? You must be confusing dreams to reality. I bet you can't find any news article proving your assertion.

BTW. I don't like Samsung phones much, mostly because of AMOLED and Touchwiz.

Are you really defending Samsung?

I'm not defending anyone, just stating facts.

Samsung Pay... how original.

Soon they will have a Kia minivan running around Cupertino with cameras on the roof.

Because Samsung copies EVERYBODY!

When Apple copies Samsung, it's called innovation.

When Samsung copies Apple, it's called photocopying.

Samsung has a good and I mean GOOD track record of copying everybody and hardly every coming up with anything of their own accord. All they do as far as i see is wait for people to do something, criticise it to death the when they see how popular it is they copy it and then get stuck in with litigation for ever and counter suing till a settlement is reached of they ground the other firm into the ground and pay a pittance as token of admitting they were in the wrong. Then they start again.
they did it with HTC and many MANY others

The tech used is fromt a company called Loop Pay, which was created before Apple Pay was announced. Makes more sense to call it Samsung Pay and not Samsung Loop or Samsung Pay Loop

Do you mean the iSamsung 6 ? :D

now come on max, You dont need to resort to fanboy trolling, you're usually better than that!

but yeah, dissapointed in the S6. For some reason, despite having MORE than ever, it doesn't check as many boxes.

the S6 edge is somewhat unique and i'll wait till I get to fondle one before passing judgement,

but right now, if it comes down to a decision between, iPhone6 and S6, the iPhone6 is a better buy.

something about Samsung's S6 camera bump pisses me off. Like not just 'meh' or 'i find it ugly', but it's actually instilling anger in me for how poorly designed it looks.

They did copy a lot but to say that they are hardly coming up with new things is farfetched.

First Phablet
First pressure sensative stylus for phones and tablets
First consumer 12 inch tablet
Leader in AMOLED tech for mobile devices

And many more.

Anyhow, they all copy each other now.

???

You mean like how Apple boasts that Samsung should prepare the photocopiers after they release the iPhone 6+, based off the Samsung Note phablet line?

You mean like how Samsung has a good and I mean GOOD track record of copying every and I mean virtually EVERY Firm's ideas and then getting sued and counter sue for every and a day

How any times has Apple mocked Samsung?

People complained that Samsung had a nasty plastic removable back, now they complain that they have a solid one piece phone.

Apple can mock Samsung all they like considering all the apparent copying samsung has done to Apple and HTC and all the others...look it up. samsung have been in Court that many times with most if not all tech firms over the years i am surprised they are not on first name terms with the Judges
