They did copy a lot but to say that they are hardly coming up with new things is farfetched.

First Phablet
First pressure sensative stylus for phones and tablets
First consumer 12 inch tablet
Leader in AMOLED tech for mobile devices

And many more.

Anyhow, they all copy each other now.

First phablet - Dell Streak did it first.
First pressure sensitive stylus for phones and tablets - please do your research before making wildly incorrect statements like that. Wacom technology does not belong to Samsung and has been used in tablets far before Samsung put it in their tablets.
First consumer 12 inch tablet - again, this reeks of insufficient research.
Leader in AMOLED - finally one thing they did by themselves, even though the technology has massive flaws compared to traditional IPS panels.

Hey look, these are the headphones that will come with it.

Look familiar?
That's so sad

That's funny and myopic considering there's a substantial number of Android hyperfans TM (who purport having owned an Apple device in some distant past) posting religiously on this site with not one positive comment about Apple in their whole posting history, not a single one.

Getting a rise out of Apple owners seemingly the motivation for those posters (along with establishing a moral and intellectual superiority over those poor "isheeps" (or variant putdowns) as they are "affectionately" called)

They are mostly not constructive, or truthful criticisms or arguments; maybe willfully so.

At least people who currently own Apple products that they enjoy have a decent reason to spend quite a bit of time here.

But, hey, I've been around the net since 1988, so I've seen a lot of things that make no sense...

Getting a rise out of Apple users? LOL WTF? Maybe just maybe people aren't trying to get a rise out of Apple users, maybe they just like the GS6? And there are plenty of iFans on here who attack anybody who doesn't drink the Apple kool aid and doesn't look at Steve Jobs as some sort of God. Anybody who says something positive about Samsung is automatically labeled a troll. Seriously, some of yall need to grow the hell up. At the end of the day, Apple and Samsung are two multi billion dollar companies who are gonna continue getting multi billion dollars over the years. The fact that some of you defend Apple like Tim Cook is your own father is laughable, I'm sorry but it is. Apple doesn't give a damn about anybody on here. It's all about the money. And I'm not faulting them for that. Hell, it's all about the money. Noting personal, it's just business.

And before you try and say "you're just a troll, who secretly works for Shamesung and Google" (b/c me working for either company is totally in the realm of possibility), I'm typing this out on my 6+ which I love. But I fully plan on getting the GS6 Edge. I have an extra upgrade available, so why not? The device is downright beautiful. And I'm going to continue to post here. If some of yall are so easily hurt over a person's phone choice, then that's just too damn bad.

I think it looks good.

I think its crazy how many of you people come here to 'defend' a corporation. Find better things to do with your time.

My bad, forgot about the Streak

Sorry, should've said first to use to one for a mobile device. I know that the tech belongs to Walcom but besides their own graphic tablets, their pressure sensitive tech was not used on a mobile device before.

Prove me wrong then

Flawed just like LCD is, both have their flaws. I personally prefer LCD over AMOLED for phones

Fine, I'll list other firsts:

Samsung SPH-M2100 First phone that can play mp3
Samsung SCH-r900 First LTE phone
Samsung Galaxy Indulge First LTE smartphone

Like I would ever be caught dead using something called Samsung Pay. These people have no clue. Here's to Samsung Mobile going out of business.

Apple stole samsung ideas so get that straight people.

Like what? What did Apple steal from samsung? Is this really your camps plan, just reverse the claim even though there is no basis in reality. How about you samsung sheep start actually presenting an argument instead of your opinions. I am really curious to know what you think has been stolen from samsung.

Everyone wins here technology for all and the biggest winner here is Microsoft preloading ms apps on Samsung phones

Other phones had styluses way before the Note. Just because Samsung's implementation was better due to available technology at the time doesn't mean they invented styluses on a phone.

You can look up tablets pre-Samsung that used Wacom yourself. Google is free for everyone to use. Here, I'll give a little hint: ASUS.

Your 'other firsts' are hilariously irrelevant in this discussion. Samsung of the late 20th century are not Samsung of today. They used to be a truly imaginative and innovative company and they lost all that when they broke out the photocopiers.

I don't know why it makes me so angry, but it does. It just aggrivates me! Not only is the design a blatent copy of the 6...And all the features they bragged about having (removeable battery, Expandable storage, etc) that iPhone didn't...And curves, and headphone jack, and speaker holes...But "samsung pay"??? Really? It has to be the worst thing Samsung has ever done in terms of copying. I am sure it's done on purpose for some reason. But if I was a decision maker at Samsung, "samsung pay" would have been wiped off the idea board 2 seconds after it was written just because if nothing else, it's completely unoriginal and embarrassing.

Then Apple stole Pay from PayPal, whats your point?

I don't understand why people care so much about who copied who, or who was first, or whatever. Shouldn't we be happy that more companies are racing to adopt certain features (biometric security, contactless payments, larger screens, 3rd party keyboards, etc) and bring them into the mainstream?

I want Apple and Samsung and whoever else to continue to take the best features of their competitors and implement them into their own phones as quickly as possible.

interesting perspective. im interested in hearing your take on apple copying samsung as far as going by the way of phablets with the new 6 and 6+. especially when they said they would never, ever, ever, ever make phone that had a screen bigger than 4"

Steve Jobs said that. He is obviously not around to call the shots anymore. By the way increasing the size like making a selection transform in Photoshop keeping everything the same just making it bigger is not copying anyone. If Ferrari made a bigger car would you see Jeep crying because the Ferrari now caught up in height? I guess you are an anti apple lurker here so if you are don't bother replying lol

There are two types of people in this world. People who create and people who use. Example, someone who creates games and someone who plays them. The people who create things (myself) get annoyed when we see others ripping off other people to their own advantage when a lot of hard work and love has gone into something. If you made a baby with your partner would you want someone else to come along and claim the rights to it?

After looking at the Galaxy S6, I had to say to myself, "Where I have I seen this before?"

(Holds up my iPhone 6) Ah, that's where I seen it before.

Mind you, I do like the new camera and wireless charging, though Apple's excellent Lightning connector and pretty fast charging times even from half-discharged doesn't make me pine for wireless charging, though.

But apple copied the Samsung galaxy nexus (first phone on the planet )to have nfc and mobile payment.who gives a crap what you name it.Samsung had nfc mobile payments first.well it was actually the first cell to do it so who copied who?

Like I'm serious right now.you do know Samsung was the first on this very planet to use nfc mobile payments on there galaxy nexus right?

I just took a picture of my galaxy nexus that I got in 2011 that uses nfc and I clearly remember using Google wallet 3 years ago buying a pair of sneakers at my local mall before the iPhone even had lte 4G
So? All you're saying is that Apple took existing freelance technology (NFC) and sculpted it to be their own. There were already tablets before the iPad, smartphones before iPhone, and hell, even full-blown computers before the Macintosh. This doesn't mean Apple copied Samsung just because they didn't want to exploit a technology's full potential. That IS, however, what Samsung has done here. It's like they use Apple as corporate beta testers for new ideas and then just rip them off and label them as their own original creations.

Pretty typical hate from the fa.... oh wait you get in trouble when you tell the truth.... those that really really like apple.

I think the S6 edge looks great and love that you can see "alerts" while the face is down. I won't be buying one but as many many have said, competition is great and these phones will push apple to try harder.

----------

Well I have to admit, the S6 Edge is kinda sexy..

agree

Correct. You seem to get it. Competition and innovation are what drive these companies to do better and do it cheaper. That benefits us. It's amazing how DUH some people are here that immediately trash whatever Apples competitors are doing. Careful what you wish for. If everyone else goes away....then Apple is free to charge even more for their stuff and let the quality slip.

Again...this is DUH...but so many people just don't get it.

Samsung. Rustling Apple fanboys jimmies since 2010 :)
Samsung is just doing what they need to and using a design that is popular (Alluminum and glass). They don't own the rights to be the only company to incorporate these materials into a phone design. Apple used the same strategy by making bigger phones. They technically got the idea of a phablet from Samsung, because Samsung was the first company to introduce anything like that. But no one called that copying. As for Samsung Pay, they had every right to use that name. Fanboys will always defend a company with opinions. Never with facts

OMG...the irony.

Well, Samsung fanboys better pray that all this copying will turn Samsung's fortunes around or this will probably be the last Galaxy model the world will see.

Well, maybe they will release the 7 and then Samsung will finally realize that they can't compete with Apple and Xiaomi.

Really

Yes microsd has gone, 32gb base model, hows apples 16gb upgrade ios anyone?

Class leading cameras
Newest processor technology Developed by Samsung
DDR4 Ram faster and larger bandwidth - Developed by Samsung
New faster Flash Memory as used in SSDS - Developed by Samsung

Those are game changers for the tech side of things and for which only Samsung can pull off seeing as they are one of the leaders in the field of chip production.

Wireless charging covering both standards, pay system works on 100 percent of terminals, curved display, 10 minutes charge for 4 hours use

Not quite seeing the apple copycat argument here are you

All great specs but let's see how the camera actually looks in real life....processing has a lot to do with how great pics look... not just Mega pix but it's easy to fall into that trap.

Can't argue with them being a leading chip designer as that's true. That being said let's see how smooth the OS is.... Let's see how all that ram performs in real life applications. Let's see how if you'll need that quick charging to be able to use the phone for a reasonable amount of time. On paper the specs look great and in reality the edge looks fantastic. Competition is great for US, the consumer.

Apple skated to where the puck is supposed to be, not where it actually will be.

Latest estimates are that only 2/3 of USA POS terminals will be converted to chip by the deadline this Fall. And even some of those that are converted, will be missing NFC but still have magswipe capability.

Remember, it took years for other countries to convert to EMV chip + PIN, and many of them had governments mandating it. In the US, it's voluntary, and smaller merchants might not have enough fraud to make them rush to replace their terminals. (E.g. how much card fraud do knitting shops have? )

.

Just like when Apple killed the DVD & Flash, both were still in wide use. Soon after, Sony stopped making optical media drives and Adobe stopped developing flash on the mobile platform. Apple is not interested in supporting a dying technology.
