No rules with using Android and Apple. That S7 Edge is calling my name and it would look nice with my 6S. Apple better bring it with the iPhone 7 and don't even think about doing 16GB.
Rules, you're right. But I like the cross-device usability of things like iMessage.

If people didn't buy them, Apple would probably do something about it.
With iPhone growth coming to a stop, you'd think Apple would get with the times. 16GB was acceptable......back in 2010.........

Seriously though, the fact that iphone sales have to slow down before Apple leaves the year 2010 is absolutely pathetic. A $650 smartphone in the year 2016 with only 16GB storage is truly despicable. It would literally have cost Apple pennies to upgrade to 32GB since NAND flash is so ridiculously cheap these days. But no, the MBA types at Apple just couldn't figure out a better way to get people to upgrade above the base model so they decided to make the base model useless.

Lets be real for a second. I'm sure Samsung was planning on having a 3D Touch ripoff in the S7. They probably realized that it was half baked so I'm betting on a 100% chance of it being in the S8 or even the next Note. Also, why is the site covering Samsung products as of late?

I thought this is MacRumors ? What rumors? Most importantly where are the Mac rumors? It has been increasingly non-Mac and leaned towards iOS (which is rather tolerable) but now it's not even Mac nor iOS.

Moreover the article doesn't even pass as a rumor since it was announced at a trade show.

Today at Mobile World Congress, Samsung announced the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, the latest devices in its flagship line of smartphones. While the two new devices are nearly identical to last year's Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, they add a trio of features that were left out of those models: expandable storage, water resistance and more battery life. However, while previously rumored, the device does not come with a pressure-sensitive 3D Touch-like display.

The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge now include support for microSD cards with up to 200 GB of storage to complement the 32 GB of onboard storage. The U.S. will only receive 32 GB variants of the devices while some regions will receive a 64 GB version alongside the 32 GB version. The devices also support IP68 water and dust resistance, which means that the phones can be submersed in up to 5 feet of water for 30 minutes. The S7 comes with a 3,000 mAh battery, up from last year's 2,550 mAh, while the S7 Edge comes with a 3,600 mAh battery, up from last year's 2,600 mAh.

Both devices have received minor design improvements intended to make the devices easier to hold. The S7 now has a flatter home button and a less pronounced camera bump among other small refinements. The S7 Edge has received a larger 5.5-inch display (both devices sport the quad HD Super AMOLED display in the Galaxy S6). However, the S7 Edge has also received a sleeker, more curved back that, according to The Verge, results in a 5.5-inch device that is easily workable with one hand.

The rear camera in the new S7 and S7 Edge is now 12 megapixels, down from last year's 16 megapixels. Samsung says the camera now has larger pixels that let in 56 percent more light than the previous model's camera; it also comes with a f/1.7 aperture that lets in an additional 25 percent more light. The camera sensor's shape has also changed, moving from a 16:9 ratio to a 4:3-like ratio. The camera can also focus three times faster than the previous model thanks to its new dual pixel system, which uses every pixel as a "focus pixel," according to Samsung.

Finally, both S7 devices are powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor rather than Samsung's own Exynos chips, which powered the S6. However, Samsung notes that some regions of the world will still receive S7 devices powered by the Exynos chips. Both devices also have 4 GB of RAM, up from last year's 3 GB. Neither phone is equipped with the new USB-C port, with Samsung instead opting to continue with Micro USB due to its compatibility with its Gear VR headset and being the more mature technology.

The phones both run Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Samsung's TouchWiz interface. The two big software enhancements for this year's model are additional edge swipe gestures for the S7 Edge and an always-on display that continually shows either a clock with notifications, a calendar or an image. The system uses the proximity sensor to keep the display on, so when the phone is face-down, in a pocket or purse it turns off. Samsung says the feature only uses half a battery percentage an hour.

The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will be available on all four major U.S. carriers on March 11. The S7 will come in either black or gold color options while the S7 Edge will be available in black, gold or silver. Samsung didn't reveal prices, but said they will be roughly in line with last year's prices. Pre-orders will begin February 23. Users who purchase an S7 or S7 Edge between February 23rd and March 18th will receive a free Gear VR headset.

Because frankly it's more interesting than the trash Apple has been putting out the last few years.

Is that a fact or your delusions? I wonder..

Allow me to add in quality of apps to that list. I found the apps I use daily on iOS vs the Android version almost always seemed better quality with the iOS version. Not saying that is the experience across the board but it was based off the majority of the apps I used.
Same here. On iOS, the apps all seem to have more polish. Very few apps on Android possess greater polish than their direct counterparts on iOS. Plus, iOS has many more useful default apps, such as the stock Weather app (which I use frequently), Stocks app, Podcasts app, and Health and Activity app that is by far much better than Google Fit. While I do use a Nexus 6 as a daily driver, I won't disagree that the lion's share of apps on Android are not as good as on iOS.

At least for me this thread helped me realize some really nice functionality that other companies are doing. While I own Apple products, I have a lot bigger interest in them making the best possible products possible. I think a lot of Apple fans stick their head in the sand and trust Mother Apple to give them what they think is best.

I'd rather read this than some puff piece about how Apple is printing money or some high dollar fancy campus they are building.

Don't forget about the new watch band colors.

How many years has it been since this site strictly covered rumors about Macs, or even iOS devices? Actually, better question- was there ever a time that this site limited its coverage to only rumors? I imagine there was a time when rumors were the vast majority of content on this site, but times change...

Furthermore, Apple and Samsung have borrowed quite a bit from each other over the years. Samsung did some really awful and tasteless copying back around the days of the first Galaxy S phone, but I'd say things have been trending more towards equal exchange of ideas between the two companies. As such, there is relevance for iPhone owners in Samsung releasing new flagship smartphones, even if you have zero personal interest in Samsung devices.

Because frankly it's more interesting than the trash Apple has been putting out the last few years.

And yet here you are on an Apple forum? I can't say I've ever been enthusiastic enough about trash to talk about it with strangers on the internet. If I were you, I'd consider finding companies that don't make what I perceive to be trash.

What did they add? Expandable storage after taking it away? No 3-D Touch? No removable battery? If this is what blows people away, then they shouldn't be considering an iPhone.

Expandable storage the iPhone never had. A bigger battery than the iPhone ever had. And Samsung Pay which seems far superior to Apple Pay.

Sounds way more exciting than getting rid of the audio jack and a thinner device.

Come on Apple! Step it up! Make a 7 that is exciting for consumers as the 4 and the 6 were when they hit. (and if we are being honest, the 4 was the last model that blew the field away. The 6 was just great because it finally got with the times on screen size.

If you look at my posts over the years I have loved Apple for a long time. But the base model iPhone is essentially a useless phone since you can only shoot a few minutes of video before it's completely full. That's simply unacceptable. If more people didn't accept such garbage then maybe we wouldn't get stuck with it. 16GB was alright in 2011...but not 2016, especially not on a device that is supposedly 'premium'.

Hello, fanboy.

Hello! :)

Have to admit it. The idea of sliding in an SD card with data/music/ etc, freely is a temptation. SD prices have come down
the last year to where a 128 or 256 SD card is worth it. If Apple were smart, this is what they would do with the iPad. If it means upsetting Hollywood and the stranglehold on iTunes, then so be it. That would really increase sales within the iPad spectrum.
Looks like apple isn't smart at all.
