When did Apple say they invented it?

They didn't. Silly fanboys accusing Samsung of copying apple again are.

----------

Yes, because of all of the enormous security breaches lately in ios affecting millions of people....

...what are you talking about? If anyone needs to be worried about security it's google with android.

I mean as apple is increasingly popular and with all the recent developments with the NSA and the constant threat of hackers targeting big companies, apple should have privacy and security as their top priority. Not because something has happened but because they don't ever want it to.

You're not very observant are you? Perhaps you should LOOK at the pictures of the tablet before commenting in future? Just a thought.........

Nope, if you look above the Samsung logo there is an earpiece grill. And I would literally laugh if I saw you using an 8" tablet as a phone for real.

I use 12.2 inch tablet phone lol! I mean, really I do use it as spare number with prepaid data plan. But I use it with bluetooth, obviously!

But this one I have a doubt if they dropped the telephone functionality. Yes, they may have 3G or LTE enabled for data, not sure if it allows direct phone calls. Meaning, Samsung getting smarter, trying to sell two devices to out smart those who combine, tablet, laptop, phone into a single device and save a ton of money!

If you're going to run a story about a competing product on MacRumors, at least give it some relevance. Otherwise it's just a promo for a non-Apple product.

That is, tell us why and how this is significant to Apple. How is the product better than Apple's etc.

What does it mean to Apple.

They post them to give us attack fodder.

Brown?

Having trouble getting past the brown color idea. Samsung does know it's 2014 and not the 1970's, right.

And trimmed with gold? Oi vey.

Companies seriously need to stop with this "world's thinnest" ********. Every company's latest keynote touts their newest product as the world's thinnest. Pretty soon this is all we'll have...

Introducing the Samsung GALAXY S Ultra Light PRO Tab Premium Rugged edition- it's so thin you won't even know it's there.

What's so great about a company like Samsung who copies and doesn't care. Why is Americans buying Samsung products when their own American company Apple is having it's products copied.

I'll never buy Samsung again and gave my Samsung TV away just to get Samsung name out of my house.

I have to laugh at you for being so stupid (are you 11, 12 or 13 years old?)

So, if items in your house have the word samsung on them and you can see this work printed you want it gone and out of your home.
But if the word Samsung is hidden from your immediate view, behind a thin sheet of plastic or aluminium then they are allowed to stay.

That's your rule yes?

:D

The 5c was not a step down from the 5! It had an improved FaceTime camera and a newer design (which I actually like better than the 5 except for the slightly thicker body).

For a company that's obssessed with its figure, yea, that was a step down

Samsung is not innovative.

They have plenty of developments and are key market player in many areas. Without Samsung Apple couldn't produce as many parts come from Samsung.

Keep in mind that most what Apple (or anybody for that matter) comes up isn't really new. Apps we have since the 90's. Fingerprint scanners are old technology, GPS is out for ages. Apple often is slow to adapt better technology, LTE is a good example.

And face it, without competition Apple would have gotten stuck with the iPhone 3.

It's awesome that they improved the display. But how useful is this display if the tablet simply won't charge. I had a samsung galaxy tablet 3 8" and 7". Using the original chargers that came with the tablets, it would take all day to charge them. I had to turn them off for the tablets to even recognize that they're plugged in.

My kids were very frustrated and upset. Samsung support is a joke - sent one of the tablets for service and got it back 3 weeks later, tablet had the same issues and no explanation was given.

Charging issues with samsung tablets and devices are documented on XDA dev forums if anyone wants to read more about the issues others are facing.

Needles to say my kids love their iPad minis now.
Note that I'm not ranting against android (which works with no issues on my Nexus 7).

I will never buy any samsung device again.

Samsung is a big company and is in many business lines. This particular line has a simple strategy: see what the idea leader in their market segment does, and then copy as fast as they can. Other areas of Samsung have different strategies.

See my previous post. One of the hallmarks of a "copycat" strategy is a very short development cycle, which requires many different teams to work in parallel. As a result, products tend to be a grab-back of features, not necessarily working together toward a coherent whole.

HAHA! I dont know why i laughed at the "Samsung GALAXY Tab S". These are not the actual fonts but why?? :D:D HAHA!

This being a Mac site, hate for this new Samsung device is to be expected.
I have owned both a rMini and previous gen of the 8" Tab and I prefer hands down the Tab over, IMO, the ugly iOS7/8.

you mean like icloud drive, third party keyboards, app integration into share screen and "hey siri" hotword are inspired/copied from android/google? ^^

and this is just for ios8.

iCloud drive is almost the same as iDisk, just an updated version and iDisk was out before google had made android and back when google was just a search engine.

these companies have been stealing ideas from one another from the start.

Yeah the same old ideas go around and around: No argument there.

But there's a big difference in the execution of those ideas. If you have to loudly proclaim that your product has "an aura" then you have no idea what an "aura" actually is.

That, or you're targeting very malleable customers. My apologies if that offends anyone here.

I can't say I've ever actually seen someone buy an iPad. But then, why would you? Unless you hang around the tills of various high street electrical stores...

But I agree, Apple's simple model line-up makes it very easy to choose. Other makers have so many it's very confusing to know the differences.

What I should of said is I've ever heard/seen someone that wanted to get one. People clamor for iPads not samsung tablets

At the rate that Samsung releases devices who can keep it all straight?

Currently they have the following 8.0" - 8.4" tablets for sale on their website:

Tab S 8.4
Tab Pro 8.4
Tab 4 8.0
Tab 3 8.0
Note 8.0

While I applaud Samsung's efforts to try and meet different needs, they are really just confusing the average customer.

They confuse me and I wouldn't consider myself the average consumer! I wanted to try a Samdung tablet and had a difficult time deciding which one to go with. The specs/differences weren't that clear when at a Best Buy store looking.

In the end I just ended up with a rMini which is fine, but Samdung needs to condense their tablets and phones a little. We don't need THAT many different choices...
