Oxymoron

"we trimmed it in gold to give it an aura of luxury"

Where'd they get that idea?

"Samsung + Aura Of Luxury" in the same quote is an oxymoron like "high quality Dell PC".

Oooooo…. nothing says fancy like a palm sized shiny brown object with a golden rim job.
ZunieTunes anybody?

I think today's reality is that everything that could be copied from iOS already has been and except for minor tweaks Apple is kind of stagnant these days so the android folks have moved on, and the android world is where real innovation is happening these days.

I can't understand why Apple can't just copy back and add all the great stuff that Android and even Windows have done?
"Not invented here" is an arrogant mindset which killed both Nokia and Blackberry.

Did you not see WWDC? A lot of the new introduced features of iOS 8 were basically "catch up" features that have been in Android for some while. that being said, it really doesn't matter who had what first. Borrowing features from other OSes just makes them all better. Consumers win. "Had it first" only counts with forum fanboys.

They're thinner and lighter than the iPads, have longer battery life (11+h); and they actually look good.

Only problem: Android.

Actually, two problems: it's 9 months too late. New iPads and iOS 8 are right around the corner.

Oh, and there's still a dearth of tablet-optimized apps for Android, so make that 3 problems.

Tab S pros:
- 3Gb RAM will run rings around the ipad with its pathetic 1Gb.
- Thinner and lighter
- Super AMOLED. IPS just can't beat this screen in vibrancy and contrast.
- Multi-users support
- Multi-window
- LTE version can make phone call. When the is ipad gonna support this?

The functionality was already on the Note 3 working with Samsung laptops. Unless they have a time machine, your theory doesn't quite hold water.

I just checked their site and they don't mention side sync at all for the note. Maybe because it was a feature that is really more like syncing your idevice but presented like the simulator that developers use to test the iPhone. It also required a Specific Samsung laptop to work. What they are proposing with 3.0 now will require you to download a program to your computer to make it work. What they are doing has been done since 2008 on jailbroken iPhones.
You are right they sold it has being like what Apple is doing but it doesn't come close. Continuity is nothing like running a simulator of your phone on your computer. Thank God!

Please don't tell me that you believe Samsung implemented this just one week after Apple announced it? They obviously must have been working on it for months. It's actually possible that Apple heard of this feature and decided to implement their own so they can compete on that feature.

Are you serious? Samsung can clone a human in 24 hours, never mind copy a feature! :D

On a serious note, I really do believe they got inspired by Apple's implementation of this. They still have time to work on it.

unmoving.. Umm... capacitive is the word Apple uses. And it looks to be the exact same one as on the S5 so if its anything like the S5 a lot of people will turn it off or just not use it because it takes some effort to use.

How hilarious is it that samsung has the S5 and apple has the 5S. I had to think about it to make sure you weren't saying it was the same one as on the 5S and therefore awesome. Death to slide to unlock for me. How do higher ups at samsung approve this stuff and not be like "this **** sucks, change it."

All companies, including apple release products that are a step or two behind their flagship, such as 5c which is a step down from 5, and the original iPad mini with its 2010 processor.

So this one is not too shabby presentations do happen

The 5c was not a step down from the 5! It had an improved FaceTime camera and a newer design (which I actually like better than the 5 except for the slightly thicker body).

-The iPad doesn't have two clunky OSs running on top of one another so it has always run faster than Samsung devices with more ram.
-Cheap flimsy plastic is always lighter, thin is good if its sturdy. See the former.
-Their screens are over boosted to make colors pop but it is unnatural and hides how horrible the pictures come out. Someone talked my EX into buying a note and the pictures of my son she sends looks like crap. They look fine on her phone but suck everywhere else.
-Multi-user, I don't really see the purpose, I can assure you that if people are really asking for it they will provide it after all devices move to finger print scanners. On the other hand, most people don't like sharing their Apple devices they are usually using them, while from usage stats Android users can share more because they really don't.
-Multi-window- I don't care about that at all. I prefer full screen apps on my mac so having two items open on a much smaller screen makes no sense to me. What strikes me as odd is the same people who say the current iPhone screen is too small to read actually want to have multiple windows open at once. So increase screen to even 6 inches then cut it in half and you have content the size of a 3 inch screen. Smaller that the original iPhone's 3.5 inches. Odd.

4 words, 4 different fonts. Really? :(

Not that it has the slightest bit to do with the product itself, but it perfectly sums up the chaos that Samsung's mobile devices line-up is.

I work for some people who love to do that. Make a logo with six words and use five different fonts. I guess they don't get that it's like hearing the words in five different voices.

Not a product problem, but looks ugly as hell. What's sad is "Samsung" isn't in the font used on all its devices, meaning they could drop another on you at any time.

Also, it's gonna get confused with being Galaxy Tabs. Did nobody ever drink that stuff from Coke and think the word "Tab" was ruined? C'mon, Korea!

although, as mentioned Samsungs fingerprint scanner is crap, Apple should be ashamed that they still dont have user logins for the iPad.

You have no idea what you talking about. Sidesync been around for sometime. It is not specific to any phone. It works on most galaxy phones. I have been using this for a while. You just install sidesync on any PC and your Galaxy phone. When your phone is on same wifi network as the PC, open the sidesync in your PC and you phone screen appears on the PC. You can interacted with your phone from your PC using mouse etc.

Continuity in iOS8 maybe different but how different is it? I doubt continuity can offer more than sidesync can.

I was wrong. Sidesync has been around since Note 2. They have made iterative advances to it, hence the 3.0; meaning 1.0 and 2.0 were already out there a while ago. You are going to move the goal post until you score. Continuity does nothing different from Sidesync. The implementations are different but the functionality are basically the same. How about I just say "okay you win" and we call it a day. Discourse with a fan is akin to talking to a wall. But it's all good. We just have differing opinions. No need to bring religion into the mix.

I just thought of something. I should introduce you to dumastudetto. You two would get along fabulously.

At the rate that Samsung releases devices who can keep it all straight?

Currently they have the following 8.0" - 8.4" tablets for sale on their website:

Tab S 8.4
Tab Pro 8.4
Tab 4 8.0
Tab 3 8.0
Note 8.0

While I applaud Samsung's efforts to try and meet different needs, they are really just confusing the average customer.

Yet people walk in the store and come out with their product of choice every day. Wonders never cease. Even if someone was confused, there's a handy sales person right there.

its funny I've been using samsung side sync 2 years ago with my note 1 ahahah and you dont need samsung laptop to make it work..
and there are plenty of software like that on android since 2012..

Oh, Samsung. Just had to be first, huh? It's like Apple has said many times (most notably Phil Schiller), "It's not about being first, but the first to do it right." So you have a fingerprint-reading tablet family? Great. Apple will as well in just a few months and it'll knock yours out of the park because it was done right instead of first.

I'm all for technological diversity and an arena filled with competitive products (see my profile tagline at bottom), but Samsung is a living joke. They're like children who can't accept losing at things so they become the bully or that weird kid who just sits in the corner and stares at other kids. It's just getting amusing at this point.

As much as I love samsung phones. Samsung really just needs to stop making tablets. They are crappy and subpar apps are available for them. They should stick to making phones.

Speak for yourself. I recently purchased a Galaxy Tab 4 and I really like it. Apps and games are not an issue and the screen is really nice even at 1280x800. It has a much better display and has better performance than my iPad mini.
