They're even uglier in person. I'd pay money NOT to wear it, I'd be embarrassed to have that on my wrist in public.

That along with its inflated price tag, terrible battery life, required cell phone and it's inevitable irrelevancy after 12 months when the new one comes out and the old one can't get updates.

USELESS. And more of a headache than anything. It doesn't solve any problems especially since I've already got a cell phone on me at all times.

The only thing emberrasing here is you lol. Usually the ones that bit*ch about the apple watch are the same people that can't "afford" an apple watch. I've had mine for a couple months now and I can't leave anywhere with out it... Public emberrasment? Yeah right.. People gawk at the watch because they want one. No one gives a crap a shamsung and never will. They are on the road to nothing. No wonder they have lost 44 billion in value this year alone. Tragic

In the smart watch world, round seems far too impractical and limiting. Yes, the :apple:Watch icons are round, but the face and apps aren't.

Having used both round and square smartwatches, neither hinder performance and it solely comes down to aesthetics. The apple watch is the only square one of the market that looks good IMO. The new moto 360 and this watch (in renders) look really nice.

Especially since you need a second plan and number, while you've already got a phone (most people).

Yes. I do carry 2 smartphones. One for works. One for private. But to have one as a 3g watch still makes no sense.
I still cannot imagine the real use case.
Actually, one 3g watch's use case I could imagine is for someone who doesn't text at all, use no app, and happy to take a call on speaker phone with his/her watch. Not to mention unpractical small screen.

Why would you stick with rectangular content when your usable area is circular? Text and content can be justified to match any surface shape.

There is another front page post on here with a video that shows apps using a circular UI rather nicely: https://www.macrumors.com/2015/08/31/android-wear-iphone-now-compatible/
He reminds me of a kindergarten kid learning to put shapes into a box through shaped holes.

Except, he keeps jamming the square into the circle hole and when it doesn't work, instead of switching shapes, he just proclaims "CIRCLES ARE STUPID!"

Yes, putting a square UI into a Circle is stupid. Thats why, if you want to use a circular shape, you change the UI and how information is displayed to take advantage of the round. But he doesn't seem to get that. Because obviously, Apple did a square UI, so that means its the best UI and it would obviously never work in a circle.

He should listen to his own signature

i wish the apple watch was round too.

De gustibus non est disputandum. "Square" is more efficient than "round" as a digital user interface; but if you just prefer something that resembles a 19th century mechanical technology forebear, there's no arguing with that. Personally, I don't think of this thing as a "watch", as "telling time" is the least interesting of its functions. Its only resemblance to a chronometer is that it happens to occupy the same real estate.

I think the macrumors you were looking for is long since dead and gone.
I think the Apple he or she were looking for is long since dead and gone. Maybe Apple went astray in his or her mind already with the introduction of the iMac, or the iPod, or the iPhone.

square vs. circle haha. Do we have to claim one better than the other for ANYTHING or can we just say it's user preference?

We all have round avatars - uh-oh, pretty soon the url will be samsungrumors.com.

At first glance, I like the LOOK of the round interface, but I think these are to bezel-y.

My biggest issue with any smartwatch is the thickness.

If apple had a round watch (done apple-like), I think my preference would still be the square one.

I'm unashamedly apple-only, but not one that thinks apple can do no wrong.

Ok, so look.

Out of interest what other non Apple manufacturer device launches does MacRumors actually cover on the front page on this site?
I can't remember so was wondering how the click bait goes with this site?
I see so many other stories' including Apple ones around the web, yet MacRumors always posts the Samsung ones....

For instance, unsurprisingly no mention of how Motorola has won an appeal against Apple in the German over the slide to unlock patent:
http://pocketnow.com/2015/08/26/apples-swipe-to-unlock-patent

Or the story about Samsung being found guilty of stealing trade secrets from TMSC for the migration to the 14nm/16nm FinFET process, a process that Samsung uses to make Apple's A9 processor.
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Court-rules-that-Samsung-stole-trade-secrets-from-TSMC_id73055

As for Samsungs new watches, I have to laugh as they run Tizen yet today it was officially announced that Android Wear will support iOS...
Seems short sighted to me.

Did you even read the original article? You posted a click bait headline and used it as Samsung stealing and being sued.

Samsung is not even involved in this case and tsmc is not suing Samsung, they are in court with an x employee.

It's sad how tsmc dosnt even have a 14nm chip out yet and Samsung mass produced one almost a year ago but its somehow a copy of a non existent 14nm tsmc chip.

This guy left in 2010 and started at Samsung in 2011 and do you really think Samsung was even dreaming of 14nm then? No way in hell did tsmc have anything close to being top secret for 14nm 5 years ago.

Heck they don't even have a 14nm chip out today in q3 2015 lmfao

What will they say when Samsung releases 10nm to mass market? You do know they already built and tested a working sample of 10nm right?

Oh hold up tsmc can't compete with Samsung and there snapdragon 810 was a complete meltdown volcano and they got but hurt Samsung ditched them for there own ice cold copied 14nm that tsmc don't even have yet lol

PS Samsung spent 10 billion dollars on making 14nm a reality

I don't even think tsmc as a whole company is worth that

Wow. The seventh model? Dare I say it, Apple Watch is better yet it's a FIRST generation model?!? The only thing better is the 3G capability but that'll come with Apple Watch 2 hopefully.
you need to have to phone numbers one for your phone one for the wrist lol, thats seems a waste of money

The Chinese only steal ideas and copy so anything they produce will also be dull and boring.

If a=b and b=c then a=c.

Name one Chinese design that wasn't heavily "inspired" by other non-Chinese tech companies. There's just no originally there, only commodity rip-off electronics.

They're certainly "inspired" by other designs but if they keep doing things with taste and Apple doesn't then they're winners here.

Look at Xiaomi Mi 3 phone. It clearly borrowed design from one of the previous iPods but compare it to iPhone 6 which looks ugly. What stopped Apple from making iPhone 6 nice and using its own good design ideas if they can't come up with better ones?

I guess this is progress but i really think Samsung should stick with android wear. I understand why they want to use there own os to stand out but in this case i think its counter productive.

(…)Not sure why they didn't just outright copy the digital crown concept.(…)
well, not quite sure, if the "round slider control" isn't such a bad idea – when it works smooth and precisely, why not?

That round screen is going to be brilliant for App designers.

Talk about super great compatibility with all the other Smart Watch screens out there!

this forum have more android fan boys than apple LOL

These people are just like Samsung...trying to scream loudly to fight for relevance. You know why I don't care? Samsung is insignificant to me...I will never spend a dime on any of their products. And they're insignificant to Apple. Apple won the war.
