I'm all for this info being on MacRumors, but the idea that the Samsung watch is a serious Apple Watch competitor is laughable

I see what you're saying. Mainly because if you're with an android device, you're using an android platform with their smart watch, just as if you're using iOS device, you're using an Apple Watch. But I still think it's interesting to see the smart watch competitors and what advancements they're making in comparison to each other.

Jony Ive just needs to iMessage this article to Tim Cook to get a raise.

One thing that I learned from following Apple and Tech news is that design is hard.

Sure is..

Wish Apple would make in-ear AirPods. Would buy them in a heartbeat.

Yup they look pretty good. Only thing I don't totally get is the 8gb of storage in them. In one sense it's great I'll assume it's for music which I guess is good for maybe weight training but unless they track distance for runs they fall a little short for exercise purposes. Might have been better they they just pair to a wearable and or smartphone and save the cost and space of adding the storage.

Everyone making fun of the pink I don't get it. I think they would look good on girls at least? Vs. AirPods you can only get in one colour or way over pay for aftermarket painted pair. I rather have a choice than no choice? Weird. Probably a bunch of people in here that would buy pink AirPods for themselves or partner if they existed but because Samsung did it first it's awful?

Yes it's simply awful ;-)

LMAO at people that say AirPods are ugly! Now you can appreciate the technology apple packs in such a slim light weight profile instead of these monstrosities! Haha!

Just two words: Butt Ugly.

I'm not sure I'd go all out and call airpods ugly but they certainly look strange in general. I mean they look like two electric toothbrush heads sticking out of your ears and don't look very good on a lot of people.

Can't say how good or bad the Samsung ones look without seeing them on someone but it looks a lot more normal to me (depending on how big they actually are). Though the mic design I would guess might work better on AirPods.

Looks like a cheap $20 watch to me. It also has nothing on Apple’s band switching mechanism.

It Actually makes me think of Pebbles round design. Looks similar to their prior design and the bands that they used. Almost slightly feminine looking.

Samsung today held an event at the IFA trade show in Berlin, where the company introduced two new smart watches and a second-generation version of its Gear IconX wireless earbuds. The two new watches come just weeks ahead of the prospective launch date of Apple's third-generation Apple Watch, which is expected to feature LTE as its main selling point.

The new Samsung Gear Sport is positioned as a fitness-focused smart watch with a round 1.2-inch 360 x 360 AMOLED display and a 20mm strap, making it one of Samsung's slimmest smart watches. It features an improved interface, "military-level durability," and comes in two colors - blue and black.

Inside, there's a 1.0GHz dual-core processor, 4GB storage space, 768MB RAM, a 300mAh battery, and the traditional sensors, including a heart rate monitor, accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, and more. It runs the Tizen operating system and is compatible with Android and iOS devices. Pricing for the Gear Sport has yet to be announced, and Samsung says it'll be available for purchase during the holiday season.

Samsung's Gear Fit2 Pro, available in red and black, is described by the company as an advanced GPS fitness band rather than a true smart watch. It includes GPS tracking functionality and a curved 1.5-inch 216 x 432 AMOLED touchscreen display. It also features a Dual Core 1.0GHz processor, 4GB storage, 512MB RAM, a 200mAh battery, and it comes in two sizes to fit different wrists.

The Gear Fit2 Pro, priced at $199.99, will be available for preorder starting on August 31 at 9:00 a.m from retailers like Amazon. Shipments will start arriving on September 15.

Both the Gear Sport and the Gear Fit2 Pro feature heart rate monitoring that Samsung says offers improved accuracy, water resistance and swim tracking in collaboration with Speedo, auto activity detection, and personalized wellness plans with fitness goals to reach.

Samsung's final new wearable is a second-generation version of its Gear IconX wire-free earbuds, which are Samsung's equivalent to Apple's AirPods. Samsung says the new IconX earbuds are lighter weight and more ergonomic, making them more secure and comfortable in the ear. They come in Black, Gray, and Pink, and support features like Bixby with gestures to activate the personal assistant.

The new Gear IconX features improved battery life (up to five hours of music streaming or seven hours of standalone playback), 4GB internal storage per earbud, and a charging case. The Gear IconX is set to be released this fall, but pricing has yet to be announced.

None of Samsung products can beat Apple product quality. Apple products are simply the best of the best in the planet.

The Gearfit Pro band is nice, great to see SOMEONE making smart bands...............

Meh I've got an Apple Watch anyway, but it's nice to see the band run in Android and iOS, the new watch looks dull and the EarPods things.. we'll see potty photos above^^^^^

look, we have activity bars on samsung now, circles and all.

That's exactly like my Apple Watch, so what's your point?

So one colour option you don't like makes it a bad product?

A camera bump!?!??! A hidden charging port!?!?! Apple is doomed!

Apple can make the ugliest and non logical products and they won't be doomed because right now Apple is cool. Also a lot of people don't like change and stick with Apple products because that's what they know how to use and are used to it.

Not saying Apple products aren't good but they sell no matter what because a lot of their customers will buy them because it's an Apple product. Not necessarily because it's the best device on the market.

Me likey.

Way more masculine design than Apple's girlie watch.

And I like the buds that do not look like Q-Tips coming out of my ears.

Still, I have no need for a smartwatch, since I'm quite a ways from fit at the present. :p

There are two photo's of really nice wireless headphones. They are form fitting, stay secure in your ear, almost mold to ear canal. Then you have two pictures of what a monstrosity really is!!!!! You got one pair that look kind of like Uhura's ear piece in Star trek, that sticks out of your ear and falls out. And you have Apples awful design of hard plastic. Even if it didnt have that stupid piece, it would be nice to have something that kind of form fit to my ear. You know, like every other in ear head set in existence!!!!! Im not saying they have to go with the crowd but there's a reason for certain designs. It just sucks that we dont know how long we have to wait until Apple admits this design sucks and chooses something that "just works"

I'll have to check out the Gear Sport.
I have the Gear S2 and like the size. Both S3 models are chunky and heavy.
Tizen is a hell of a lot better than Android Wear.

The Gear S2 iOS app is decent, but Apple limits it's ability to work properly with the iPhone.
There's no ability for 3rd party apps to send messages through iMessage or to perform most interactions beyond starting and stopping music, so you're stuck with basically a notification viewer on your wrist.
