Do you wear your ignorance with pride due to Apple fanboyism or are you so much of a fanboy that facts don't matter?

1. There's only currently two forms of tv: OLED and LCD. Plasma sellers are abandoning ship (This also includes Samsung), and new technologies like SED and FED were abandoned years ago. So what 'new tech' are you babbling about?

2. Moving a record 13 million tablets in Q1 of 2014 doesn't look like Samsung is sinking:

http://www.sammobile.com/2014/04/29/samsung-posts-7-3-billion-net-profit-in-q1-2014/

What DOES look like it's sinking, is a certain tablet business by a certain company named Apple that's sales went down to 16.35m for Q2:

http://www.dailytech.com/iPad+Sales...ablets+Android+and+Microsoft/article34791.htm

If you are gonna be a fanboy, next time simply pick up the cheerleader outfit and go 'ra ra' for Apple instead of making blatantly wrong comments that somebody can easily pick off.

First of all, I was talking about phones and tablets, obviously. Stuff like IGZO, other technologies from Sharp, those are the things to take a look at. Not Samsung's AMOLED displays. Even archaic LCD technology can be better than the current best of the best AMOLED displays in a vast number of situations.

So, my point was pretty clear: Samsung's displays were simply worse displays until now. And even now, despite being great on some occasions (while losing in others), not a single OEM is interested in the technology, not even in flagship devices, as the Samsung Display CEO mentioned.

About the rest, don't be like that, man. That's a disgusting thing to do. As far as I know, Samsung could be selling a billion phones and tablets each day. Those are not high end devices, and their profits are sinking faster than you can type.

Apple is only going flat (which is higher than Samsung Eletronics ever was, and that includes Samsung mobile) or higher, as the last few quarters showed. Those 7.3 billion you mentioned were a huge yearly drop, just like the quarter before that, and this particular quarter. I'm sure you read the news. And I'm sure you knew that. So, since you were only trolling and insulting, I hope that you get banned.

2nd ad is totally rubbish. If the director of a movie doesn't want you to see someone in the screen, then he doesn't want you to see him the screen.
Boosting contrast just makes it unnatural and fatiguing.

Same with boosting highs and lows in audio.

It is nice for 10 minutes, but in the long run, you want something that is comfortable to look at and listen too.

Um, my interpretation of the scene is that you're supposed to see the guy hiding in the shadows, but due to the lousy iPad screen you can't see him. Samsung is saying that you're missing out on something with an iPad, not getting something extra with their screen.

Example looks faked to me in any case, as on the Samsung tablet you see the uncovered part of his shirt as a bright white area. Can't see how that much at least wouldn't show up on the iPad even if the darkest shadows were lost.

Korean advertising agency

This commercial in it self seems out of touch, lacking up-to-date marketing aesthetics and design. It must be a Korean market company applying their Korean market concept in the US and it just has a foreign feel. I bet it was in-house. The iPhone tethering to the wall ad, was more refined and well written.

Sorry Samsung. I was considering buying some of your products, but now I definitely wont. You've lost a potential customer for life and I know hundreds of millions of other Apple consumers feel the same.

But... I watched it ON an iPad; I see the bad guy!

I feel like this ad undoes itself for anyone who watches it on an iPad, since we can see the bad guy who is supposedly invisible on our inferior screen...

Jerk parent and confusing advertisement. Apple's ads are getting pretty awful in my opinion but they're still better than those two.

Of course it's fake. I could see the guy just fine on my iPad and iPhone. Everyone could.

I'm in video. You want someone to be in the shadows, but viewable? Well you certainly don't underexpose them. You color grade the image where they're dark and flat, but definitely visible on any screen.

Today the South Korean company is promoting its new Galaxy Tab S with two new anti-Apple advertisements, bashing the iPad's lack of multitasking and its screen.

In the first ad, Samsung features a crying baby and a dad fighting over an iPad that's unable to display two apps at once.
...
The second advertisement pits the display of the iPad against the display of the Galaxy Tab S.

Actually, there was no mention of Apple, nor were any iPads shown.

No Apple logo. No home button. No camera. Etc.

Can you share what this data point proves? Are you suggesting that sales is the measure of a great product and less sales proves an inferior product?

If so, I believe Lamborghini, Rolex, the OS X development team, and the Mac hardware team do not agree with you.

What can be considered from that datapoint is this - When comparing quality from a standpoint of sales: If the less expensive item is selling more, that's proof of the status quo. Everyone wants something for nothing, and more people will gladly have 'close enough' for cheaper. Nothing new here. HOWEVER, when the more expensive item sells better, despite it's higher price point, then there just Might be a compelling reason found in quality and features.

Multitasking is a great feature - love using it on my Windows tablet, and I really wish my iPad and my Lumia had it.

Although I'm not really a fan of AMOLED screens, with the burn-in and oversaturation issues. It does have great blacks, but I'm willing to sacrifice them to prevent burn-in issues.

There are/used to be a few:
  • Brightness issues: The screen of an AMOLED display is determined by how bright the pixels are, however OLEDs aren't particular efficient as of yet, meaning the brightness is limited. I'm actually not sure how well AMOLED has caught up as of yet.
  • Longevity issues: The main problem back when OLED were still experimental was the longevity of the blue (I think) OLEDs. While the red and green subpixels lasted sufficiently long, the blue ones lost brightness after a few months, causing display failure. I know the problem is still there, I'm just not so sure how bad it is.
  • Color accuracy: Color is a little problematic when it comes to OLED, as it's completely determined by the chemistry of the OLEDs. In LCD you have the light source, the liquid crystals and the pigments (which are well studied). This generally gives you more/easier control. This problem is solved, as far as I know.
So the main problem with AMOLED is that the OLEDs need to do the job that three seperate components do in LCDs do. That usually has consequences regarding longevity and control. The OLEDs must be bright, color accurate and long-lasting, often those properties compromise each other. But as I said, I'm pretty sure most of those problems are solved already. I'm really not sure why Apple still refuses to consider them.

I see, thank you :)

Apple has always been like this.
Never ever believe Apple chooses something simply because it's the best.

There is a lot of Personal Opinion in Apple products and dumb ideas.
Now Jobs has gone this bias may fade a bit and Apple gets better in offering things people may want rather than telling them what one guy things they should have.

Apple has nothing to sing and dance about re it's screens in comparison to others. First, they don't make screens, they just use others panels, The same way Dell and Apple use the same panel in monitors. And Apple can make them worse due to the way they use the panel.

I'm not even going to bother to google "Apple Yellow Screen"
Ok, I did.... lol... 124,000,000 items google found.

Lets hope it will get better :)

Sure, two different people watching two different video streams (who gets the audio?) is a totally realistic scenario.

This is pretty much the case with all of Samsung's "features", I had a Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) for about a week before I returned it. It was filled with crappy bloatware and gimmicky features that while may be cool for one to show off, either don't really work or are so slow that they are painful to actually use. I took it back and got an iPad mini, so happy I did - I've been an Android user for a while and I'll be the first to admit the tablet experience on iOS is much, much better.

This is something I've found too. I have an Android phone and am about to get the LG G3 on Thursday, but for me the iPad is the king of the tablets.

Because of an AD? Or What? Inferior products in some way? I would really like to know as I am undecided between iPad and Galaxy Tab S 10.5".

There's no dire need for audio on a football game, so yes that concept could be totally realistic.

However, that's not what was going on in the ad.

The child was watching a video, while the Dad was keeping track of the game on a web app:

Anybody else getting right click menu popups when they tap to play YouTube videos like these on their iPad (I have an iPad mini if it matters)? Didn't have this problem yesterday.

UPDATE: It seems the issue has been fixed - at least with the videos I have viewed today, including the ones in this article.

Still happening on my iPhone. Been a few days now.

Me too

Sorry Samsung. I was considering buying some of your products, but now I definitely wont. You've lost a potential customer for life and I know hundreds of millions of other Apple consumers feel the same.

All we need is a little "SF" logo on every device (Samsung-Free), and we can avoid all Samsung products, inside and out! Consumers deserve to know!

I remember when the Kindle Fire HDX cas compared to the iPad Air:

"Sharper, Lighter, For Less"

1 million more pixels... 20% lighter... only $379

Those figures seem like they would be more important than split-screen and contrast ratio.

Yet... the iPad outsold the Kindle Fire by a factor of 4

Maybe people aren't interested in a couple of line-item features and instead are looking for a more complete package.

I find it hilarious that a ton of people are pointing out that the iPad sells more as a way to endorse the iPad. When the shoe is on the other foot, though, it's because Apple products are "of higher quality" and "quality is better than quantity".

Samsung bashing apple makes me feel angry. That South Korean company should just mind its own business.

Companies always bash each other, it's how things work. Apple even did it at one point. :\

Edit: By the way, it is their business to make you think the iPad is inferior to their offering.
