Cause Mac VS PC commercial worked so well for apple! :D

PC isn't a company or a brand, it's a type of computer. Where Samsung is bashing Apple directly, Apple bashing PC computers is not specifically targeting any company. #logic

It was humiliating the people that used pcs

Amazing how much that orchard has grown, given apple's marketshare was 10% 10 years ago and 10% today... you can give all of the personal observations you want, but marketshare is closely tracked and it's obvious that in the laptop\desktop market, apple has been essentially stagnant at 10 points for years.

In the year of 2007, Apple sold less than 5 million Macs. Today, Apple sells that each quarter. Again, what were you saying? It is also an well known fact that Apple makes the vast majority of profits between PC OEMs. Extrapolate, dude.

Besides, Again, I don't care about such useless metric (by itself alone).

So the question: Are you going to stop being such a blatant liar? Or are you trolling?

Huh? PC and hybrid sales have gone up, so regardless, 10 percent market share is 10 percent market share. It's not trolling to point out fact. Speaking of fact, please point out where the Mac marketshare has skyrocketed since you state that it has.

You completely missed the point. They weren't playing two movies simultaneously on one tablet. They were sitting next to each other on a loveseat, playing the EXACT same movie on TWO different tablets.

Pretty much the stupidest scenario I have ever seen. Ever.

I was talking about the first video with father and daughter.

This says it all really...
(Points out common notice in corner of ad that screen images are simulated.)
There's no need to debate if the scenario is stupid or not (it is) because the advert is just an outright lie.

Everyone, including Apple, uses simulated screens in ads. That's why we rarely see flicker, screen glare, actual finger shadows, or reflections of the camera taking direct shots from behind the usually headless hands.

Side-by-side multitasking is limited at best. There are not many scenarios whereby it's convenient to run two apps on one screen at one time. Even on a PC.

Doesn't sound like you do much on a computer.

Running more than one app on the screen at a time is SO convenient, that a lot of us use multiple monitors to simultaneously display even more windows.

As for the iPad, heck, I'd settle on it just being able to let me use two tabs on Safari without reloading each time I flip between them.

Not stagnant... CONSISTANT!:)

In terms of videos, that is what iPod Touches were for. Adult gets the iPad and the kids get the iPod touch to watch videos. For multitasking, yeah it would be helpful.

HAHA Apple PR has a job for you. Most companies have a goal to grow marketshare, not remain the same, especially when they hold 10%. LOL.

The screen image in any digital device in an advertisement is almost always simulated. Have you ever tried to photograph or videotape a computer or tv or tablet screen? Looks like crap. This isn't shady, it's necessary and common practice among all advertisers with regards to screen images.

Good eye, I didnt even catch that the first time through.
The video clip we see (and supposedly shown on the iPad) is also different to the one shown on the Tab S. The man in the shadows has a darkened section over-layed onto the rest of the video. I've modified the brightness and contrast to show this better. You can see from the circled section that it shouldn't be dark not even on a low quality LCD screen let alone a display as good quality as an iPad Air.

Those at Samsung responsible for marketing should be upset. Calling potential customers names isn't smart. iPhone users are already smart phone users so you should be enticing them to switch instead of calling them wall huggers. Not smart. I was seriously considering switching until the iOS 8 announcement in conjunction with the news that we'll see larger screened iPhones in the fall. I was still going to look but I don't think I will now unless iOS 8 doesn't deliver. Not a smart move!

It's one thing to simulate your own screen (avoid lag, mis-touches, glare etc) but it's not on to fake someone else's screen in order to make yours look better in comparison. I'm aware the videos aren't really playing on the iPad/TabS but they aren't the same videos.

Apple's Mac division alone is the most profitable in the entire PC industry. Meanwhile, HP and Dell (the two largest in terms of marketshare, a metric that means most to you) have been flirting with bankruptcy for years. So tell me again why marketshare is important?

Also, what you don't seem to realize is that one can still grow and yet still keep a constant marketshare, if the size of the industry has also grown with it. (eg. 5 million units in a market of 500 million units and 20 million in a market 2 billion in size are both 10%)

What matters here is that by carving out a niche market at the high-end, Apple can remain very profitable while OEMs battle it out for marketshare at increasingly shrinking margins, which they try (and fail) to make up for with larger volume of sales.

The same goes for Android OEMs by the way. As premium devices get superseded by increasingly cheaper phones with high-end specs, we will see the same kind of decline among Android OEMs as they'll be forced to compete with one another over price. Even Samsung will feel the pinch when they're forced to sell premium hardware that once sold for $600-$900 for under $300.

But who is saying that marketshare has skyrocket? I'm just saying that Mac sales growth exploded on the developed world, and pointed evidence (Apple sells 4x more macs now than it did in 2007/2008).

And you know for a fact that the mac has outgrown PC for some long quarters in a row. What is your point? What do you want? I just said that you are a liar and pointed where you lied: You said Mac sales were the same in the last 10 years (liar x1), places in Europe were forgetting the iPhone and going Android (liar x2, they never were iPhone users in the first place, only now is Apple's sales going up (regardless what you consider Market Share. If you have the common sense to check mobile phone market share (instead of just smartphone), Apple's share is going up)), you said that Apple was declining, (liar x3, they are going flat or up on every metric, unlike every single big competitor)).

You are lying and spreading FUD, nothing more, nothing else. A company can have 99,99999% Market Share and it could be losing billions of dollars. It's an worthless metric by itself.

So yeah, a huge number of people have Macs now, especially between the creative/produtive people. That wasn't true few years ago (outside the US). It's actually amazing to watch. Everybody is getting an Apple product, be it an iPod Shuffle or a 30.000$ Mac Pro.

Someone like you must really live in a bubble to share such nonsense.

Not a single company has that in mind, actually. The goal is making money.

God, such ignorance. Blah blah "market share", blah blah. Oh, company X is closing doors tomorrow, how? They had so much market share!!! Me not compute. me not understand.

Is this post in jest? I assure you no company has board meetings where they say "we need to increase our marketshare, regardless of how much money we hemorrhage!!!"

Really hard to take you seriously when you post things like this.

If i'm the only company that sells flying squirrel heads and i make one sale i will have 100% marketshare. Trust me, if i dont sell another flying squirrel head again, i will go out of business...

I am giving you the benefit of the doubt and going to assume all your ramblings about marketshare are a joke, because they did make me chuckle.

HaHa.....arggg, an in the real world could you imagine sharing a tablet with a kid.

Multitasking is welcome, but not for sharing with kids...

Agree 100%. What a dumb and annoying ad. Why not show the real advantage of being able to multitask?

Still love iOS because I like the streamlined, fast interface, decent MIDI implementation, and the serious Apps that don't have meaningful Android equivalents.

It's the increasingly junky hardware that I dislike. I bet Samsung tablets don't crack from a 2" fall like the Air.

Oh, and I was a 2011 MBP purchaser. Those have been dropping like flies for a couple of years now. Mine died a few months back with the usual GPU failure. Obvious issue - no recall.

Expensive junk.

Apple doesn't live in the cheap market, which is what most of Android phones are, give some stats on high end vs high end. Does Mercedes sell more cars than Toyota?

Why should this surprise anyone.

Expect Apple profits have exploded in the last 10 years. And in that same time other companies like Dell have virtually disappeared. Market share by itself means nothing. But please do keep on embarrassing yourself with these types of posts.

The ad is an obvious logical disconnect since both the kit show and the sports show involves competing audio even if you do side-by side picture somehow.

As noted several times in this thread, it was not two videos. It was a football website and a video:

I suspect Samsung's target market was determined to not notice or care about facts.

First you have to get the right facts.

There's a lot of confusion of the term "multitasking". What you describe is not really multitasking. It is running two apps, side-by-side. Multitasking in its purest form as the ability to run and process another app in the background whilst using another.

Side-by-side multitasking is limited at best. There are not many scenarios whereby it's convenient to run two apps on one screen at one time. Even on a PC.

Tickers etc. are an exception. But that's why we have notifications.

I can see it being deployed on iOS but really don't see the value other than saying it can be done.

I agree. Useful but only in certain scenarios. I'd not much prefer my small 9.7 iPad Air showing two half screens, but in some cases useful. 5 Finger gesture to swipe to the next app is just as good. Allow multitasking settings to turn on full multitasking on a per app basis. Allow split screen as another option

All this banter/arguments over a feature, both devices are very good, and there are pros and cons with both. You cannot expect every tablet to have exactly the same specs and features, surely? We have all seen the feature arrive, say Siri, then copied, thats what happens, thats why all new cars all have auto transmission, electric windows, traction control. All products evolve from other before them.

Is any Apple user who prefers the package of the devices, OS, and ecosystem going to change all that over a feature? Very few. If Apple is often late with the features, thats changing under the new leadership.

that's so dumb because watching two videos would be the dumbest thing at the same time like that..... and that kid needs to be weened off that asap ha!
