Samsung commercials show people waiting in line for an iPhone.

Samsung commercials show people charging their iPhone.

iPhone, iPhone, iPhone

I wonder if there is a way for Samsung to make a commercial that DOESN'T give Apple any screentime?

I understand the point Samsung is trying to make here... but all I see is tons of people using iPhones.

And then Apple's commercials show WHY people love using iPhones. :D

To be honest, cell phone battery technology all around is terrible. I'm surprised we haven't developed something better by now, but I'm not entirely sure what else we could do

I can tell you right now that the average user is never going to swap out their battery. That kind of thing serves a niche within the tech savvy market, who are already going to know which devices have a replaceable battery and which do not.

well for sure the average Apple user won't be!

I dont know how good or bad battery life is on a Galaxy, but on my iPhone 4s I get 3 hours of usage (since upgrading to 7.1.1 and 7.1.2). I'm not impressed.

I must be the minority, but i normally charge my 5s three times a day. Almost all power-consuming features have been disabled too. The G2 i had were much better in this regard

Three times? I charge mine overnight, every night and it usually lasts me all day. I won't be in the red until I'm at home, in the evenings. For example, it's now 8PM and I've got 58% battery on my 5s. I haven't charged all day. I think the iPhone does need battery life improvements but the issue isn't as bad as Samsung are making out.

I really enjoyed that, well done Samsung. Those features of the S5 really do batter the iPhone.

Swappable battery is incredibly useful. Travelling on a flight with my iPhone means I need to try find power at the airport to make it last (imagine if you have a connecting flight). If I could bring 2 or even 3 batteries with me, then it'd be a lot less stressful.

A battery saver mode for iOS would be handy. Perhaps if my battery drops into the red zone (20%), an extra option appears in Control Centre, offering me the option to turn on battery saver mode that'll limit background app activity and down-clock but at least let the battery last perhaps the remainder of the evening for that user.

Does anyone know if the S5 includes an internal battery with just enough juice so you can hot swap the batteries without having to power off/on?

Its not the same thing...but I carry a 12000mAH battery pack and I can charge my iPhone and iPad while traveling. Battery saver mode would be helpful, on the iPhone I just throw it into airplane mode.

To be expected with old hardware running an OS it can barely handle. Upgrade.

I haven't had any good experience with any Samsung phones. Touchwiz is a battery hog. Waiting to see if the iPhone 6 will have any improvements. Going to get the LG G3 regardless though.

Instead of buying a spare battery and carrying it around, buy a Mophie Juice case and carry it on your phone.

Worthless ad.

Much like political advertising, this speaks to the Android faithful... and no one else.

"There they are. Clustered around power outlets, near the recycling bins, stained carpeting, and bathrooms. Tethered to the wall. Denied the freedom to enjoy even the most basic things, like grabbing a drink, or sharing a laugh with your co-workers. Or sitting with someone you know. You're stuck here until your battery says so."

More likely scenario: Plug in to and from the job, whatever that might be. If it's in a building, then plugged into an outlet at a desk, not near the stained carpeting and bathrooms.

I, for more than one, will never buy a Samsung product. Ads such as this solidify my resolution.

Why doesn't Samsung promote a longer battery life - IF that is the case - by comparing the actual usage time on a charge with that of its competitors.

And I do not own an iPhone.

One word:

xiaomi-10400mah-power-bank-external-backup-battery-miui-charger-lenovo2008-1405-30-lenovo2008@2.jpg

This battery can charge the iPhone 5S for 6 to 7 times.

Or can charge the Samsung S5 for 3 to 4 times.

Battery life could be better, but its not terrible. Far from a wall hugger.

I have got to say I can't remember the last time I saw ANYBODY sitting near an awkwardly placed outlet trying to charge their iPhone. In fact, I think I've only seen one person charging their phone in public in the last like 6 months.

I actually agree with Samsung on this. Apple's intense focus on minimal thickness, volume, and mass has always caused them to declare an 8 hour workday battery life "sufficient". People are imperfect and I run out of battery so often I have often posted here I suggest Apple offer an increased battery option. They have not, will not do that. I want 2 day battery life. It is the single feature that would cost next to nothing to implement that I would cheerfully pay extra for.

Can you hear me yet Apple?

Say what you want about Samsung, but this ad is genius!

They probably know from internal sources that Apple won't significantly increase the battery life of the new iPhone, and even if that is not the case, they are pretty much forcing apple to do something against this accusation.

But yeah, some kind of energy-saving mode would be nice.

Exactly my thoughts. I think the charger cases are things like the Juice Box are far more attractive than a spare battery or carrying your charger around. I'd buy one if I had experienced bad battery life with my 5s...which I'm yet to experience.

Give me a slightly thicker iphone with a bigger/longer lasting battery. This race to be the thinnest is getting boring.

Bigger phones mean bigger internal batteries. I have an LG G Flex and it lasts me almost 3 days of constant use. Kudos to Apple though for getting the most out of the smaller battery in the iPhone. I certainly hope with bigger screens in the upcoming iPhone 6 they can put in a bigger battery despite the fact it will be even thinner.

I routinely use my iPhone heavily all day and it's still got juice by the end.

While I'm always in favor of more battery life, the iPhone has been good enough for a few generations now. Frankly Apple has always been a leader on this, and they keep running WWDC sessions on writing energy efficient code so that not only does iOS run efficiently, but all your apps can too.

Ok, someone explain to me how black-and-white screen even makes a difference. The pixels are exactly the same, regardless of what color they're showing, it's not like it's switching to e-Ink.

It just seems like a placebo to make Samsung users think that they are saving battery because everything is grayscale. The only way I can see it actually working is if the black pixels actually turn off?

Wow, they really went after the perception of Apple product owners as entitled, selfish people with the woman saying, "Really?" to the person who plugged in the vacuum cleaner to do their job.

while Galaxy S5 users eschew battery charging with Samsung's power saving mode and the Galaxy S5's replaceable battery.

If I worked for Samsung I'd probably make this ad too. It identifies a distinguishing characteristic.

But what's the difference between carrying an extra battery and a little back-up power device? And with all the caveats (no wi-fi, no BT, limited app access etc) I'd think the power saving mode, while clever, might be more disappointing that satisfying. Your opinion may differ. :)

I must be the minority, but i normally charge my 5s three times a day. Almost all power-consuming features have been disabled too. [QUOTE/]

Based on my experience that makes no sense. I'm a heavy user but i get thru the day. I'll also sometimes plug it in if i'm at my desk working at my computer (how hard is that to do!?) or if I'm driving (ditto). I'm using an Olloclip case that facilitates use of the company's add-on lenses. But if I weren't I'd use a Mophie, they've been wholly satisfying for me in the past.

But yes, I think apple overdoes the make-it-thin routine. I'd rather have a phone 30 percent thicker with that much or more battery life. Your opinion, again, may differ. :)

Genius? And who's minds are they going to change, exactly? This ad makes their fan base feel good, nothing more.
