I give the screen size to Samsung for that. I seriously hope iPhone 6 will shut Samsung up with a bigger screen.

As for the S-Pen, I don't think anyone with their right mind will actually crop Lebron out and send a text or e-mail to someone sharing that moment. I'm sorry. Can you think of a better comparison with S-Pen instead?

No offence but does anyone actually use the stylus? I have never seen anyone that I know of who uses the stylus on their Galaxy Note.

Oh well Samsung, it's too late

People knows what's the best device for them. When I am sitting at my couch I don't need to run multiple apps on the screen at the same time. I don't have time to customize and waste lots of time. I need simplicity and better design. Samsung/Android still didn't get it. They will never understand what user wants. But users know what they need. That's why %94 of tablet users still choose and USE everyday iPad and Apple products. Apple creates stuff that makes sense for users. That helps people and save time in their life. Sorry Samsung, whatever you do it will be waste of money. It's too late for you. Because Apple got it all...

This succinctly encapsulates so much of what is posted regarding other individuals and companies attitudes toward Apple products.

In short...who cares.

Exactly. If you like the iPhone, use the iPhone, who cares if another company pokes fun at it? If you like Samsung, buy Samsung, who cares what Apple says about it. Freedom of choice, it's a wonderful concept.

I think your percentage is off a bit.

Have someone splain to you exactly what Jobs said about tablet size. THAT wasn't it.
.

“The reason we [won't] make a 7-inch tablet isn’t because we don’t want to hit [a lower] price point,” Jobs said. “It’s because we think the screen is too small to express the software. As a software driven company, we think about the software strategies first.”
Such tablets, Jobs said, would be useful only if they came with sandpaper to file down human fingers to a quarter of their size. There’s just a limit to how little physical area a screen element can be and still be able to be pinched and swiped.

So I presume you are going to now say yes he was right 7" is too small but 8" is perfect

Every time this comes up, the next response is, but the iPad Mini is not 7", it's 7.9".

Actually, those were pretty funny ads. At least what Samsung is saying in the ads is true: The iPhone screen is too small by today's standards (or at least there should be a choice of larger iPhones!), and the lack of true multitasking on the iPad is another fair point, though to be quite honest with only 1GB of RAM on the iPad Air it can barely handle ONE task... *cough*....Safari....*cough*

I'm pretty sure adult hands haven't grown since the launch of the first iPhone. The size is the main reason I went back to iPhone from an S3.

People kept saying Apple needs to go back to a plastic body cause the aluminum body scratches, or the rear glass breaks. They need to make a cheaper iPhone and they will make a killing. Apple fell for it with the 5C and none of those ppl bought what they claim Apple should make. It pretty much shows Apple was right to do what they feel is best and not listen to the moans of 'wise' consumers.

When a Samsung Tablet is in a drawer somewhere does anyone know its on

I don't know. I'll ask my iPad, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch, and 13" Macbook Pro. Never mind, I'll just Google it while simultaneously watching Netflix and attaching various files formats to an email I started.

Hello samgung!dont u get it? its not about what you can do! its how well u can do it!geez!!!

Exactly! Good thing that Samsung does multitasking on a tablet extremely well.

Narrator is grating.

I like how Samsung used the video to make the iPad Air's bezel look fatter than the Samsung's.

Kind of like how Amazon held the 8.9 Fire HDX closer to the camera to make it look like it was the same size as the Air.

I don't care if this was an Apple, Samsung, Microsoft, BMW, or whatever ad.. Bottom line is, that guys voice was irritating.

Ahhh..... therein lies the rub, doesn't it?? The implementation.
Samsung's tablets don't have horrible, not real multitasking at all, "choose from a VERY limited choice of apps to *ahem* multitask *ahem*" because their software engineers can't code.... quite to the contrary- their workforce is probably 80-90% as talented as Apple's! They are employing top-notch minds. The reason why their "multitasking" (sorry, I simply cannot use that term without quotes & keep a straight face, as what Samsung offers is clearly NOT true multitasking) is so incredibly shoddy is because true multitasking on a mobile OS is currently IMPOSSIBLE. I believe that what Samsung has done (& make no mistake... it sucks) is currently the absolute BEST that can be done. And THAT, in a nutshell friends, is why Apple is waiting.
Let's parse this out a moment & think about it. Many, many, many apps rely on the use of the gyroscope & accelerometer to respond to tilting the screen, shaking the device, etc as input, correct? So.. logic tells up that right off the bat, precisely ZERO of these apps can work well in a true multitasking environment. What are the chances that you'd want the same reaction in the two different apps at the exact same time? Ok... what about games? You KNOW that somebody would immediately want to Skype while playing the latest iteration of Infinity Blade or the like. So, obviously, to keep that from being a lagtastic horrible experience, any app that uses a high amount of resources would have to be nixed. Basically, any implementation that I can currently envision includes HUGE trade-offs. I think all they could do is a minimally handy implementation like Samsung's where you can only choose super lightweight apps like calendar, mail, YouTube, or web browser to sit side by side. Even that has HUGE caveats. For example, people claiming that they copied Samsung (which is indeed what it would be doing, were they to adopt this approach), also.. The control piece.. for how much Apple gets a bad rap for "controlling" the user experience & Android gets praised for the opposite.. it's odd that nobody finds Samsung's forcing of you to use their crappy tiny selection of pre-selected apps for "multitasking" draconian. I, for one, would NOT like to see this on iOS. What if Safari was one of the apps & I wanted to use Chrome? What if stock calculator was the only choice & I wanted to use HandyCalc? I, simply put, could not... I would be (like a Samsung Galaxy Tab owner) forced into dismally small selection of apps for my "multitask" experience. Sounds miserable. I seriously cannot fathom who is pushing for this.

Yeah, just like most iOS features that were on Android before iOS, Apple waits to get it right before implementing it. I'd guess that the split screen idea wouldn't work as it requires both apps to run with their full interface: would they scroll to fit? Or squish their UI...?

But maybe the solution eventually will be along the lines of what Apple did with its current background processes such as location, push notifications, background updating, etc: there will be a set of things that will be able to multi task, and apps will have to be adapted to that. So for example, there might be an API where video chat apps can stream video into a pre-defined rectangle on the screen, and Skype can use that rectangle to display video, and this could float over an app and be draggable so it doesn't interfere with stuff underneath.

But if Apple hasn't implemented it yet, I'm pretty sure that's because there's nothing at this time that would work well.

You know, I was thinking of a similar car analogy. For many years now, the standard for small sport sedans have been the BMW 3 series. Not necessarily the best (whatever that means) and not necessarily the best selling, but it has been the model that ever other sport sedan is compared to.

Imagine if Mercedes or Audi or Lexus spent all their advertising money on how their models have more horse power or more leg room or had better fuel economy than the BMW? They would be missing the essence of why people buy sport sedans. Its about the driving experience, not the numbers.

We don't have to imagine it, because they already do that. Not all of their money because that would be stupid. But yes, some of their advertising is pointedly targeted at BMW. Rightfully so. When BMW is the perceived king of a targeted segment, and you want to compete in that segment, you highlight what makes you better. Then you let the fanboys fight it out.

As an aside if you think the Apple vs Android war is crazy. Try peeking in a car forum. WE (yes, I am including myself) are absolutely demented. Mention a Camaro in my Mustang forum and prepare to be hunted down. Srsly, hunted down. Apple vs Android is a tame tea party by comparison.

Looks like Samsung got a new ad agency.

These ads are markedly better than the embarrassingly poor spots that normally define Samsung.

It's just pathetic. Samsung makes great products. They should really allow their stuff to speak for itself. Mud slinging like this wreaks on desperation.

battery life

haha i actually like these commercials, since they're telling the truth. I mean come on, its 2014 and on ipad you still cant have 2 apps on one screen at the same time.

How 'bout you dress up like Steve Ballmer but instead of "developers developers developers" and throwing chairs, you shout "battery life battery life battery life"

Once you have two apps running, you soon have them all. Apple knows that kills battery life and that's why they're moving quite slowly on this "multiple apps" thing. It's a tiny bit less restrictive than it was but the essence is still that, if your app isn't "frontmost" then you're not active, and therefore consuming no cycles (== battery).

So Samsung tries to make their product sound better by advertising a clunky old stylus. I remember using a stylus with my Palm Zire 71.

Also, the reason the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has more pixels is because it has a bigger screen. The Tab has 149 PPI while the iPad has 264 PPI, so I believe the iPad has the better screen.

haha

Haha, pretty funny phone commercials.

But I love my iPhone 5s. Got it on day one.

Matter o fact, it was my first iPhone.

Even better, I love it so much, I really think I would keep it rather than trading for a 6 or 6s in the future.

I couldn't say that about any Samsung product.
