Note Pro v. iPad Air

I own LTE versions of both tablets. While I have been a fan of Apple for years, I must confess I'm not using my Air nearly as much. The stylus on the Note Pro is much better than bluetooth 4.o stylus writing on the Air. I'n invested the Apple Ecosystem but serious I thing the Note Pro has become my go to device for productivity.

Uh, maybe because they don't "bully" anyone? Or that they make some of the top products in a number of categories? Sorry, but I'm not buying the "ugly corporation" bit. They're pretty much on par with a ton of others.

Top products in a number of categories? Possibly they are considered the top television, but my LGs have been great and comparing them in a store I just don't see how Samsung is so much better then LG, Sony, Sharp, etc. They are selling more on the "brand" then anything.

As far as major appliances go lately I have been most impressed with GE products. They have made a major investment in Appliance Park in Louisville KY and are bringing back most of their production to the USA giving people jobs. GE isn't a perfect conglomerate by any means, but it is nice they support US manufacturing.

All I am saying is that there are a lot of alternatives to Samsung and I feel that they sell more on the "brand" then actually being a superior product. Yes Apple sells on "brand" too, but unlike Samsung they actually have a superior product.

i have to admit, the only thing samsung has right is the pen, i have two kids in my math class taking notes, one on a samsung tab, one on a iPad. the notes on the samsung are much neater.

This is new... Samsung bashing the iPad..

Do you think their cheesed iff with all the fillings with lawsuits, so they fugue, "what other way can we get back here"

Then again...Microsoft is doing this too... ok, who else will there be...

Step up. Maybe cos no-one likes, or all this "basing" is due because other companies are only now just waking up from sleep, and realising "hey, Apple is popular... We gotta do something here"

Why do you think Apple's not "bashing" anyone ? Because they couldn't. Care less about these ads. Granted you could say "Mac vs Pc ads" but that was more comedy than anything else.. Besides, thats no longer the case anyway.

I'm sure its mire than just looking at the plastic, cos iPhone 5c is as well. Check mate. :)

~snip~ ...footage of people drinking coffee... ~snip~

Actually the winner for that gig is Amazon's video intro to the Kindle paperwhite. I had to watch it twice to have a clue about the device because the first time all I saw were all the foods and beverages lying around in assorted shots of people in bathing suits and other fitted clothing, ostensibly reading ebooks. It was before lunch and anyway I'm straight so I found myself drawn more to the food than the cleavage shots, and my brain didn't even take in anything from the voiceover or pics of the actual device. I'm trying to remember if there were any guys in that video. The foods overwhelmed me I guess. I was so hungry.

Weeks after having slogged through that video for the second time, I do think I'm going to get a paperwhite. Nothing wrong with having my Apple gear plus a side of Kindle. At least Amazon has been good about letting people read their Kindle books on Apple gear via Kindle apps for computers and touch devices. And if I get a Kindle then I can get in on the book-a-month borrowing that comes with Prime, so maybe I won't ditch my membership when they jack my fee in October.

I'm not holding my breath for Apple to turn out an app for iBooks on Kindle tablets. It's taken them until Mavericks just to relent and let us read our iBooks on our Macs. So before anyone thinks my dislike of Samsung's tablet ad is coming from sheer Apple fandom, it's not so. I have my pet peeves with Apple and it's sometime their overintegrated ecosystem. It works for them, maybe. Maybe not as wel as it used to.

But I'm not sold on Samsung's tablet, and a big part of it would be the Android part. iOS 7 has been off to a bit of a bumpy start but I still prefer the iOS environment for smart devices. When Apple will offer true multitasking, it will be because they feel they can do it without losing security or responsiveness. I'll wait for it.

What??? Your English makes no sense to me

The ad also forgot to mention iPad is really really terrible for consuming media/viewing videos.

- Samsung tablets are way ahead with support for most codecs that can play any media type. ipad just waste huge amount of time converting them to supported format.

- Samung tablets support UsbToGo (and usb file copy). Plug-in your portable disc directly and you can play videos off it (or easily copy files into tablet). Furthermore have additional 128Gb using external SD without paying cut throat price like the Ipad.

A bunch of objective reviews disagree with you.

That word "objective" is pretty critical right there...

I hate samsung they suck, stop bashing apple like that, apples a better company and has more money than them anyways!!!!! and all there products look like crap to with all that plastic!!!!!! Apples Better :apple: :apple:

Grammar problems aside, thank you for epitomizing an Apple fan boy.

Sorry to disappoint you but Apple is not going out of business anytime soon.

It appear you hit reply without reading the chain of comments that led up to this. Some terribly misguided company claimed that he would be surprised if Samsung would still be in around in a year. I—and the guy to whom you responded—pointed out that's about the most idiotic statement in this entire thread.

None of us are wishing Apple were out of business. But the point is that in a business context, a diversified portfolio of products tends to give a company a better shot at a long-term sustainable competitive advantage, whereas niche products lead to niche companies.

Samsung does make good quality-picture quality TV's, I agree. Oddly though, my 60 inch LED Samsung just died, seemingly for no reason. I also have a six year old LCD and it's still running strong though! I don't normally buy extended warranties, I think they are usually a scam, but I may get one when I pick up another TV later this year. I am waiting on the 2014 models to come out from Sony, Panasonic, and Samsung to decide first. Then I may just pick up a 2013 model if nothing's significantly different.

OMG!!! LET IT GO. So sick of people brining up the past from many years ago. Your point is null and void. Every Apple competitor has made their share of jabs but they refuse to stop. Apple stopped that stuff years ago and you need to let it go.

You're right, LET IT GO PEOPLE, it's not as if Apple made about 100 different ads over 3 or 4 years, translated them in to a multiple different languages shown in a dozen countries, plastered them all over the internet and included them in a bunch of WWDC's...oh wait a minute....

Stop! Your facts are going to make his head explode!

Do it!

Weeks after having slogged through that video for the second time, I do think I'm going to get a paperwhite. Nothing wrong with having my Apple gear plus a side of Kindle.

Do it man. You won't be disappointed. Much easier on the eyes than the iPhone or iPad.

Samsung has so many tablets out there that I don't know which one is which. Is this one the Samsung Galaxy 2 tablet pro note 8.41421??:confused:

Apple's ads aren't insulting (bar the Mac PC ads).

People have a short memory.

Remember the Apple Genius ads a couple of years ago, which pretty much insulted Apple's own customers as being too stupid to do anything without help?

"Apple has apparently removed videos of its series of three divisive "Genius" ads from both its website and its YouTube channel. The move, first noticed by MacRumors, suggests that Apple wasn't happy with the overall reaction to the ads, which was largely critical of the fact that the ads appeared to paint Mac users as "clueless." - Ars Technica

Back on topic...

If you pay attention to the Samsung ad, the Samsung users never really say anything.

In the ad, it's the Apple users who are making comments like "It can do that?".

Herein lies the problem. Hyperbole. They aren't hating on you. Clearly they've touched one of your nerves though.

Insulting them doesn't exactly raise the level of your discussion either.

Not really, because despite the fact that you keep going on and on and on about, this, it's utterly irrelevant that Samsung wasn't the target. The Apple ads were still comparative. The fact that no specific brand was mentioned has no bearing on, well, anything. It's just you attempting to rationalize your point of view because you apparently love Apple and hate anything that is anti-Apple. It's fine if that's your point of view, but that doesn't mean you need to worship Apple and denigrate Samsung. You've gone on and on about the build quality, and the apps, and calling us "Apple haters," and making your elitist suggestion that there should be an application to qualify people to post here. Clearly, objectivity is lacking.

The fact that, as you said, Apple "stopped that stuff" is similarly irrelevant. They only stopped once their ads had achieved their intended purpose—namely, cementing and clarifying the brand image.

Like I've said multiple times in this thread, I have a background in market research. That means I'm uniquely qualified and skilled to evaluate and comment on what works and doesn't. And the reality of the matter, proved via literally decades of market research, is that brand compare-contrast ads are often extremely effective when the other player in the marketplace is the dominant one. For Samsung's ads to not focus on Apple would be, well, asinine.

You're not being objective, and that's to your detriment—in this thread, and in life. I've never owned a non-Apple computer. I've never owned a non-Apple smartphone (other than my BlackBerry back in the mid 2000s). But the fact that I like the products doesn't blind me to reality.

Yep this. To think PPI is the end-all be all to displays is a joke and a lie.

A bit, but thus is marketing. If you want to see exaggeration in marketing, Apple's been as guilty of that as anyone over the years.

That's not to say it's "bad" (in my opinion, anyway). It's just the way marketing works.
